Which Content Causes Duplicate Content Errors
Thanks for your feedback. I think this situation is a little different because we built our site using Masterpages in ASP.net so many of the pages have the same wrapper and each page has unique content. Many of those branding pages use an image to show branding guidelines and the social media page just has a few links to social media sites. You are right. We should try to build out the content a little more but we are also considering using ajax to drive the mega menus because we're guessing that is contributing to the issue.

Does **tag on a product description help?**
Great question, but the short answer is “No”. Back in 1996 it may have been a small contributing factor but not today. But… The strong tag does have another propose. So lets say we have an article that’s quite wordy. We all know the average web user isn’t going to read it all so this is where the strong tag can be of used. Emphasising keywords or sentences using the bold tag is a great way of getting the message across and noticed

Site lost in Google
Seems like some of the pages of your website are now returning 404 server side response code- http://selfdirectedira.org/blog/search/pensco+trust http://selfdirectedira.org/blog/about/ Suggest fixing them. Suggest blocking the test pages like this - http://selfdirectedira.org/shortcodes/tabs-accordion/ Your Google Plus Profile lack image - https://plus.google.com/118416969633262389449 .

Tons of 404 errors - wordpress permalink structure
Download Screaming Frog spider and crawl your website. That should help you find if/where you reference 404 pages. Cheers

Ecommerce & Responsive design
That would be craziest think from me if I would put such kind of statement about responsive design. I newer told that responsive design is dangerous! I told that any technique to hide something that is not visible for humans and is visible for search engines 'could' be read wrongly by Google if not now then some day! I wouldn't risk with my personal business with this. Any possibility for me that could lead to been blacklisted/penalized etc. is strict no no. For me, to hide something in my website is bad and to show two different versions according to 'responsive design' is something completely different and it is good. For example: One day SEO/BH people will start to utilize this responsive CSS design/technique to manipulate their results in Mobile search. I can guess personally what will happen - Google will tell that they are not longer favor this design or they will 'ask' to tweak and twist it. Or, they can tell that they will favor something else. What will happen with my business!? - I will be forced to redo all my work and change design, coding etc. If I will have heavily developed platform at that time I will be forced to implement huge amount of work which will cost me thousands and thousands. I would follow only proven values and not follow some trends that are not stable in this field even if that is obvious for now. That was what I meant and that is what I'm saying now. Best, Jungles

After a website redesign, what is the impact and is it a good practice to use /v2/ naming convention?
Yes, it is quite simple to fix. I think I will follow your recommandation. It'll reduce the levels of redirections ( there is still the redirection to the appropriate language that I don't want to remove ) and make the urls cleaner. Thanks for your answers.

Are there any good websites to submit articles to?
Article submission is not giving much link juice but yes its not a bad way. Its indeed a good way but make sure you submit unique article to each site.. If you submit one article to more than one website then it will harm your website, also dont spun the article... Also use best sites only. Below are some good article submission list : 1 http://www.newsvine.com 2 http://ezinearticles.com 3 http://www.articlesbase.com 4 http://www.articlealley.com 5 http://www.articlesnatch.com 6 http://www.articletrader.com 7 http://ideamarketers.com 8 http://www.articlebiz.com 9 http://www.basearticles.com 10 http://www.articlerich.com

How to Minimize HTTP Requests?
For CSS/JS, I do it manually. Just combine the code from each of the files into 1 file. I also ran a search and found some possible tools they can assist you - http://code.google.com/p/scrinker/ For images, you will want to combine then via css sprites. Use a free CSS sprite generator (like this one) to help you generate the right code.

Is Anybody using any of those Shopping Cart? Do you recommand them?
I have been using Big Commerce for about 3 months and have been satisfied. It's very user friendly and has a lot of features included in the base monthly fee. I looked at Shopify (and to be honest, their website templates look better), but couldn't get around them wanting to charge a percentage of my sales. My website is www.onlygrainmills.com if you want to see it/give feedback.

Joomla ( title page override not working properly ) any techy guys out there
The extra categories, menus, etc do not cause any issues. They make it more difficult to work with the site and find the root issue. Imagine you set up a stereo that uses 10 wires for power, sound, etc. If you can cleanly view the 10 wires, it is very easy to diagnose any issues that may arise. Now imagine the same scenario but there were 50 wires, 40 of them which don't actually do anything but are there nevertheless. You wind up wasting time checking each of those wires to eliminate the possibility they are causing problems. With the above stated, your question boils down to you are not able to properly set the Title tags on your Joomshopping product pages. You should ask the Joomshopping publisher for assistance.

Redirect based on location best practice clarification?
Have a script to detect if Googlebot is present. If it is, have the main site, without geo-location personalization. If it's not, redirect using 302, and canonicalize just like Groupon. This is NOT a violation of Google's TOS, because you are doing it to provide personalized results for site visitors, and not doing it to trick Google. Geo-redirection is a perfectly valid user experience concept under those circumstances. As for Groupon leaving the URL at the root, they're just populating the content behind the scenes (at the code level) for those users. Again, it's for a high value user experience, not to trick search engines.

SEO and Modal Windows
What content is included in the modal windows? It sounds like it's just maybe short snippets and some form fields to login or signup? If that is the case you don't have anything to worry about. Depending on your site structure you should have plenty of other content on your pages to differentiate "page" content from "misc" content.

How Does Google differentiate a keyword you are optimizing for and a non-keyword?
Optimizing pages for individual keywords/ phrases ad utilizing interior linking strategies and anchor text. Especially because of the highly competitive phrases.

Using content from other sites without duplicate content penalties?
You are very welcome Boris.

Should I nofollow my blog "read more" links?
"read more" just makes sense to me. That's what you want people to do isn't it? If it makes sense for your users AND search engines "get' it....then by all means yes, do it. Ciao bluekite! Dana

.htaccess on wordpress multisites
Try the following BEGIN WordPress RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)([^/])$ http://%{HTTP_HOST}/$1$2/ [L,R=301] RewriteBase / RewriteRule ^index.php$ - [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /index.php [L] END WordPress If that doesn't work strip it right back save your original htaccess and try just this: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)([^/])$ http://%{HTTP_HOST}/$1$2/ [L,R=301] If that doesn't work your mod_rewrite module might not be working check server config..

Hey, So I know wordpress is built with a user capability, but what about databasing custom user data?
Hey Tyler Check out Cubepoints: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/cubepoints/ This is a user based points management system where users can earn points for specific interactions with the site such as posting blog comments, logging in etc. It is modular and easily extendible so even if it does not everything you want it is likely 90% there so with some gentle hacking it could be easily extended to do just about anything from a user points perspective. You could always build something from scratch as a wordpress plugin but I would certainly take a look at this as a starting point as why reinvent the wheel! Hope that helps buddy! Marcus
