Wordpress in a subdirectory?
Thanks for your reply Marcus, and also for the details for moving to root. That may come in handy, and anyone else who stumbles across this thread too. It's good to know there appear to be no issues for SEO in Wordpress residing in a subdirectory, yet I am appreciating more and more the need to keep things as simple and straight forward as possible. Website Design Structure
Responsive. But... I prefer a server AND client approach. Pure media query techniques result in really heavy pages that make too many design compromises. I use server side client capabilities tables to narrow the range of stuff different clients get. However they all use the same URL.

Best way to add Google Analytics to a Joomla!
I've never heard of displaying javascript analytics code via CSS. You need to either edit header.php, index.php, or footer.php and paste the code directly into one of those template files. I recommend header but I've seen it at the beginning or end of index.php and I've seen it in the footer.

Question on Breadcrumb and Canonical
You are spot on on the question. I was thinking along the same line as your answer. So now you just confirmed it. Thank you very much!

Internationalization and Translation via il8n
Some people do subdomains (like you've outlined above), and some do directories, i.e. mysite.com/en/, mysite.com/de/, mysite.com/fr/. It used to be recommended that you do directories, as they keep your domain authority pooled better, since subdomains each have their own concept of domain authority. That seems to be less true today, so I'd do whatever is easier for you to set up. All else equal, I'd opt for the directory structure.

AJAX & JQuery Tabs: Indexation & Navigation
hello Philip, robots.txt file allows you to tell the web bots that crawl your site what is a link and what is not a link that you want to show to the world and to Google Most search engines will analyze and follow a link only if it contains three query string parameters or fewer. many parameters in the link shown you have 5 parameters they are what come after the1st / as shown below you have 5. You can block off certain parameters with robots.txt /en/residential/help/loesung/entfernen-sie-sim-lock http://www.swisscom.ch/en/residential/help/loesung/entfernen-sie-sim-lock.htm for some reason whenever I go to your link you have posted I get this error The requested URL /system/sling/cqform/defaultlogin.html was not found on this server. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff723936(v=expression.40).aspx http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1235687 please links above regarding URL parameters and Microsoft and Google agree that too many parameters and they will not search the link. I hope this is been helpful sincerely, Thomas

Is it worth upgrading php to accomodate new WP version?
his developers say this: The developers are skeptical about the possibility to update PHP on our server as this could seriously damage the entire RV site functionality i have no clue why his site would be in jeopardy - he said he took care of any security issues by moving the blog to a subdomain from revisitors.com/blog to blog.revisitors.com i also have no idea whether or not that makes his blog more secure but i need some in-depth professional advice here

I need help with international SEO for two sites?
Hey, Why use a separate domain for US? Presumably you've already built up authority in the root domain so why waste that effort on a completely new domain like companyusa.com? I would set-up sub-folders all around: UK - company.com/en-gb/ USA - company.com/en-us/ Germany - company.com/de/ Also gives you scope to optimize for Latin America too if you ever wanted, like so - company.com/es-mx/ To ensure the correct version of the site ranks in the correct Google CC, setup each site as it's own entity in webmaster tools and set geo-location correctly per site. Also you could implement href-lang meta tag on each page to tell Google which version of the translated content should be indexed in the country specific Google, google.de, google.co.uk etc. Hope that helps, Woody

Should the primary navigation use keyword rich menu items?
I agree with Irving. Over optimization of sitewide anchor text links is a big no no and there is definitive documentation about the penguin update. Here is a great article on the topic: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/recovering-from-the-penguin-update-a-true-story Does your client actually think that visitors to the site won't understand that About Us actually means About the Blue Widget Company? Perhaps a quote from Google Webmaster Guidelines is in order: "Webmasters who spend their energies upholding the spirit of the basic principles will provide a much better user experience and subsequently enjoy better ranking than those who spend their time looking for loopholes they can exploit." http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=35769&topic=2370419&ctx=topic

Redirect From .aspx to .html if already indexed - Website Redesign
changing .asp to .html won't help your SEO so i would just leave it alone. if you were going to deal with extensions i would lose the .asp and not have any extension.

Best way to handle Spanish/English WEBSITE
Hola Chucho! I took a look at your site, and I absolutely understand your issue. Do NOT use the Google translate tool, as Google will see this as poor content and might mark you as spam. My suggestion is that you invest in a translation which shouldn't be too hard since there are many native English speakers who also know Spanish (look for someone who is English first to ensure that the final product will be high quality). You don't have to do the whole site at once...you could do home page and top 20 linking pages first, and then over time, keep doing the rest. Obviously that is not ideal because it is going to cost money, but think of it as an operational cost. My company usually works English to Spanish so I can't offer my services, but if you need help selecting a contractor I'll be glad to help.

Intuit Website Hosting - Stand-Alone Webite?
Hey man, thanks for the answer! If I may, I'd like to get a better understanding of your input: When you say SEO is easier with Wordpress, do you mean there are specific tweaks/actions I will be able to do that I will not have access to with my other host? Or can the same things be done, but it will be a little more challenging to accomplish them? I hope I am making sense. I've already invested alot of time into my site with Intuit, and it will be difficult to start over from scratch with a new host so I am hoping to be able to keep what I have. I'm willing to put up with a system that's less efficient as long as at the end of the day I have the same control over the optimizing process. (Either way i will be using a "drag & drop" editor because i am not proficient in HTML. I'm seeking to develop SEo-type skills without necessarily learning full website HTML building abilities, if that's possible.) Your feedback is appreciated!
