Why would Google read different pages to rank for a keyword?
Do I understand that you have multiple pages that rank for your keywords? This happens because apperently your keywords appears on multiple pages and google can't decide on what page is the best match to that search term. It might be wise to first have a good look at what pages are ranking for what keywords. Then decide what keyword you are actually targeting with those pages. Try to target only 1 or 2 keywords per page. By siloing your keywords you make your site easier to understand for both search engines and users.

6 year old Corporate domain lost all rankings on EMD day.
No, the 6000 come from foreign websites, many of them are Chinese (.tw). I think that Google should know better, a company that has been running a website for 6 years in not going to build links that way so quickly. It just seems that anyone could do that to their competitors.

Ranking drops over weekend
I can confirm that 70 of our sites were hit over the weekend. It started happening about Thursday of last week. Some of the sites were number 1 for keywords and now they're off the chart. But honestly, the sites were of low quality and we have been advising the client for some time about over optimisation so this comes as no surprise. Other sites we deal with who also have EMD have been unaffected. There's a lot of pissed people out there after this one. They could've at least named it after another back & white animal!

URL is starting to appear capitalized in Google Search Results. How come?
Hi Margaret, It's showing in lowercase for me here in the UK when searching for either your keyphrases or the domain name directly.

Is there a utility that can tell me what keywords my site already ranks high for?
Searchmetrics will do that

Google Multiple Results
I wouldn't bank on that in the future. Google has been tweaking the "domain diversity" settings a lot lately. Their goal seems to be to increase domain diversity on any given SERP, so I would still assume you'll only get one result on page 1. Anything extra is gravy.

Considering the Panda algorithm updates, would you recommend reducing high amounts of inbound links from a single website?
I would say it's all about motive. We've become link-phobic now. As others have mentioned, it's Penguin that is concerned with inbound links and not Panda. With that being said, however, Penguin is meant to penalize websites that have grossly abused anchor text. So, if you got a pile of inbound links from a bunch of different websites all containing your money keyword as anchor text then this can set off the Penguin filter. But, one sitebound link (even if it results in thousands of links from that site) is not likely to do that. If this were the case I could easily take down my competitor by pointing a single sitebound link at their site! (Agh...don't start negative SEO debating now though.)

Backlink profile
You definitely seem to understand what you type of links you need. Also understand, link building is difficult and you get what you pay for. Choose a company that doesn't BS you. Don't look for guaranteed # of links or things like that. Ask them what techniques and ideas they have. Go from there. There are no result guarantees in this field, but you can guarantee honest hard work and the creation of a good plan. Sometimes, one good link can be better than a ton of low-quality ones. Not to mention bad links can actually get you in trouble.

Benefits of "other" search engines
If your site targeting audience in China & Russia then Yandex & Baidu can help. There is no chance of gaining good traffic by targeting Bing & Yahoo than google.

Is Google now ignoring title tags?
A change to the way Google displays the title doesn't necessarily mean Google has changed the way it reads title tags and uses them to establish relevancy.

Why do in-site search result pages rank better than my product pages?
Thanks Keri. That gives me some ideas for my next steps. I won't go against Google's guidelines but if I can generate a few pre-generated search pages that would be helpful to my visitors then I may get a win-win.

Why has my homepage been replaced in Google by my Facebook page?
wait you treated a Facebook page has a homepage? So you did point your TNS to your Facebook account? this is the problem and you should really never want to promote your Facebook account over your soul site. All of these traffic is going simply to 8 site you do not have ownership of however you do have of course your profile there and you may have advertising regardless you want both your website and your Facebook site up at the same time on with twitter and all the other fun stuff. Please explain to me the process in which you created the Facebook page secondly it could be that you have a down server or page and went you Google it you're getting the cash result and that is leading you to the only page with a viable Live link on it your Facebook page. Please private message me if you feel more comfortable doing that or send it via the message board just your URL of the great and I would build that whole you everything wrong. (Hopefully) all the best, Tom

Not sure whether to update existing page or create a new one
Robert gives you a very good answer; a page with low ranking is ideal for being improved through optimizing the on-page factors and gaining links to your pages. If you have a blog linking to these pages is a very good idea to bring them to visitors attention again. Just to reinforce this point - Thankfully page ranking doesn't carry over otherwise there would be a lot of us in this industry struggling! In relation to internal linking I would look at where these pages sit in your site architecture in terms of links to them - are they prominently linked to in your navigation or are they buried deep in your site. If they are buried deep would you be able to include them closer to the top of the site navigation (in terms of including them higher up the navigation levels, such as only taking one click to get to your low ranking pages from the homepage) with approrpriate keyword anchor text linking to them? Depending on your site this is not always appropriate but it is a concept worth considering as it will make a difference in my experience.

Physical locationof the server vs customer base vs SEO penality?
Hi Everyone I am maybe going to throw a spanner in the works here, but here goes. I have read what you are all considering. I have been in the position whereby I have been asked on occasions to look at an ecommerce website that was not performing too well. I might find it has been registered for a number of years and it sat on a .co.uk domain had a few decent backlinks yet just wasn't cutting it with Google.co.uk Investigation on these occasions showed the site to be hosted on a server in the USA, but my .co.uk ecommerce client really wanted to see some decent traffic from the UK. I have then gone through the process of moving the domain onto a UK based server and after a short time boomph the website improved its performance on all round. Now had I done this only once you might say that was a fluke, but I have carried out this exercise on many occasions now where in most cases i was faced with the above scenario. I had a client site for example that had some really good links some coming from one of our top television websites that had great pagerank, but it was not along with other good links rubbing of on this clients site. I oved the site domain from Germany back into the UK and again BOOMPH the website performance improved. And in some cases where I was then faced with having to achieve the opposite i.e. have my UK client site reach say an audience in Germany, I would then use the Google products available to me for GEO targetting and also would create a page on www.clientdomain.com/german rather than doing as some suggest which is http://german.clientdomain.com I agree with eyepac that conten links and good old fashioned optimisation are key factors for pages to do well and I would go as far as saying that my recipe for a bit of formality in how you prioritise your header code and then your approach to on-the-page content layout is still important. And a wee visit every now and then to remind ourselves of the Google Guide Line document that is available to us is always worth revising. Look forward to anyone's feedback

Website evaluation questions-what to ask a client
Some questions that can be on the list: How dose he (the client) measures success out of SEO? What are the SEO KPIs and targets ? ( with those you can really get a very good feeling on what type of client you have or you will have). You can also elaborate based on the answers and drill down to understand better their view. Leave room for your proposals and other better KPIs that you can propose. What keywords he would like to target ? (in order to have a good starting point for your keyword research session) In his view, what are the main competitors and why ? (starting not only with rankings but also with content, UX and social exposure) What SEO efforts have been done on the website so far ? (really important one - you will probably need a list and dates for changes in order to have a clear assessment of the project) Dose he track and monitor the site ? if yes, with what tools ? (GA, WMT, SeoMoz etc). Ask for access if possibile (sign and nda if needed) Ask more about the current tracking: dose the client have goals and tracking events setup in Google analytics. Dose he review the feedback from those tools and what decision did the client take so far based on this feedback. Dose he uses event tracking - when, why. Separate chapter about Domain Authority - Link building. Any activities done so far ? Try to see if he knows the trends with link building as you can provide a lot of support about the topic - it's a dangerous topic and you need to be in the driver seat. If not clear, ask about the monetization channels of the website. What is the website income: sales, Saas, adsense, baners, partnerships - it's only for branding etc. At the end of the day you will need to help him reach those targets: income, visibility , exposure etc. Just a few random ones - Hope it helps

Why does Google Alerts call my website a blog?
"Sometimes it shows up in both," to me, makes me think you've (probably) nothing to worry about. You're getting crawled as a Blog, which helps you in blog specific searches like Icerocket or Google Blog Search, etc., and you're also appearing as a website. It certainly doesn't seem like it will hurt your rankings.

One SERP Result, Two Different Link Destinations?
I was only using the same example! I don't even know what green Nalgene is! (Sounds like a cleaning product to me!) The only thing you can do is be aware of google's actions and do what you can to make the best of it! Good luck!
