1. Yes we do sell internationally, however, most of our customers are in the UK. We sell a lot internationally on Amazon. On our current website it is mostly UK customers. We are trying to expand into the international market, however.

2. We have been on the current domain since Dec 2009.

Hi guys,

I have an ecommerce site selling eco-friendly items online. I ran some on-page optimisation reports from SEOMoz PRO and discovered that I have at least 120 internal links per page.

32 of these are in the footer, designed in part to aid user navigation but perhaps also to have a positive impact on SERPs and SEO in general for the ecommerce site.

Will removing these links be beneficial to my search engine rankings, as I will have less than 100 internal links per page?

Or is it a major change which may be dangerous for my site rankings?

Please help as I'm not sure about this! I've attached an image of the footer links below. I won't be removing the Facebook/Twitter links, just the 3 columns on the left.

Yes the whole copy and customer reviews are unique. The only thing that's duplicated is MOST of the title, img ALTs, img URLs, URL, H1 tag and link text throughout the site. I say most because these attributes would vary only in colour.

I meant item titles as in what I name the products in the ecommerce platform, NOT the meta titles which are unique for all my products.

If the item titles (and hence URLs, image ALTs, H1 tags etc as they are automatically set by the ecommerce platform) are duplicated (and NOT the meta titles) would it still make a difference and am I at risk of getting downranked / penalised?

Hello everyone,

I have an online shopping site selling, amongst other items, candles. We have lots of different categories within the LED candles category.

One route a customer can take is homepage > LED candles > Tealights.

Within the tealights category we have 7 different products which vary only in colour. It is necessary to create separate products for each colour since we have fantastic images for each colour.

To target different keywords, at present we have different titles (hence different link texts, different URLs and different H1 tags) for each colour, for example "Battery operated LED candles, amber", "Flameless candles, red" and "LED tealights, blue".

I was wondering if different titles to target different keywords is a good idea. Or, is it just confusing to the customer and should I just stick with a generic item title which just varies by colour (eg. "LED battery candles, colour")?

If I do the latter, am I at risk of getting downranked by Google since I am duplicating the product titles/link texts/URLs/H1 tags/img ALTs? (the description and photos for each colour are unique).

Sorry if this is a little complicated - please ask and I can clarify anything...because I really want to give the best customer experience but still preserve my Google ranking.

So far I have found this Q&A to be very helpful.

I have a couple of product pages on my website which rank very low in the search results. This was because in the past they were not at all optimized in terms of title, description, etc.

I would like to now optimize these pages, get some inbound links to them, etc.

I'm not sure whether to do this with the existing product pages or create new ones.

I'm afraid that if I optimize the current pages, the low ranking from before will carry over. Would it be better to start fresh?

Hi guys,

After looking on the Internet and reading the Learn SEO section on this site, I've realised that Google doesn't like duplicate content and penalises it, whether that's duplication on your own site or of another site's content.

We are an online retailer currently selling on different platforms including Amazon, eBay and our own ecommerce webstore.

Is it okay to have the same item description (i.e. main page copy) on each of these sites, or will our search rankings get negatively impacted?

Thank you in advance, I have researched on this issue also but I couldn't find a concrete answer.
