Should my domain name be an exact match of my brand name?
Related to this question: i have a client who has a short brand name as the domain name (www.onli.be). They ask me if they should register a new domain name that describes their core business better. I.e. www.anchortext.be instead of the present url containing their brand name. Basically, their brand name is not that recognised although it is a short and catchy name. Should I let them keep the old domain name and focus on the on-site optimisation rather? I should optimise the pages still, as right now it does contain the brand name 'Only' too many times. We will also expand to other countries afterwards, so that's why i posted my question in this topic! Thank you

Excessive internal links. Should I remove the footer links?
Hi Pravin, I wouldn't consider 120 to be overly excessive for an ecommerce site. However there's a danger that the footer links could be perceived as spammy (especially if the anchor text is keyword stuffed). I agree with Bryan - check to see if the links are getting clicks, and if they're not, streamline or cut them. Good luck!

Are duplicate item titles harmful to my ecommerce site?
In my opinion, you still run a small risk of having items filtered out due to being too similar. If you feel the balance of unique content compared to duplicate is much more on the unique side - you may be ok. You may have less risk of being "penalized" compared to just filtered. Meaning your domain as a whole may not face penalty, but some of those pages still might have difficulty showing up due to being too similar for a given search. A decent way to explore this is to do searches for phrases that might be exclusive to those pages that have similar content. Do they all show up? Then you are probably ok. How about an exact phrase match using quotes around the search query. Do some testing and see if you are hitting a filter or not.

Not sure whether to update existing page or create a new one
Robert gives you a very good answer; a page with low ranking is ideal for being improved through optimizing the on-page factors and gaining links to your pages. If you have a blog linking to these pages is a very good idea to bring them to visitors attention again. Just to reinforce this point - Thankfully page ranking doesn't carry over otherwise there would be a lot of us in this industry struggling! In relation to internal linking I would look at where these pages sit in your site architecture in terms of links to them - are they prominently linked to in your navigation or are they buried deep in your site. If they are buried deep would you be able to include them closer to the top of the site navigation (in terms of including them higher up the navigation levels, such as only taking one click to get to your low ranking pages from the homepage) with approrpriate keyword anchor text linking to them? Depending on your site this is not always appropriate but it is a concept worth considering as it will make a difference in my experience.

Can I have the same item description on Amazon, eBay and my website?
Depending on the authority of your website depends how quickly it gets indexed/ranked For example: I have seen stuff on Quora get indexed by Google in about 15 minutes If you have a new site, it could take a couple of weeks Personally if I'm planning on launching a new product I'd post in the info on my site a couple of weeks before it's ready to launch with a coming soon banner. This is good for two (2) resons: You are generating buzz You are making sure Google knows your site published the content before anyone else. Is duplicate content an problem? Yes. If you get indexed first, is it your problem? I'd say no
