Is this appropriate?
Hi Igor, If you're getting HTML or CSS errors, correct those errors ESPECIALLY your HTML errors... I don't want this post to point you in the wrong direction so it's important to note the following: Don't customize your website for search engines, customize it to provide the best user experience on all used browsers Search Engine spiders work mainly in this direction: Google spider -> Make pages primarily for users, not for search engines. Don't deceive your users which is commonly referred to as "cloaking." Avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings. A good rule of thumb is whether you'd feel comfortable explaining what you've done to a website that competes with you. Another useful test is to ask, "Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn't exist?" If these errors are related to layout, you will not be affected since most crawlers look at your site as plain text without trying to render them. Some SEO's would tell you that CSS doesn't really matter, I say we cannot be 100% sure so to be on the safe side try to fix any non-layout related errors. Regards, Jean

Indexing non-indexed content and Google crawlers
Wow! Nice detective work! I could see how that one would slip under the radar. Congrats on finding a needle in a haystack! You should buy yourself the adult beverage of your choice and have a little toast! Cheers!

Best Practice for Inter-Linking to CCTLD brand domains
Hi Thomas, I think that what you're doing right now is fine - "...linking from each content page to each other language domain, providing a link to the equivalent content in a separate language on a different CCTLD domain." Seems sensible from a user perspective - I think the only potential downside is if you're implementing this using lots of anchor text - this could potentially be problematic. Equally utilising javascript allow users to select language and location seems fine to me. I hope this helps, Hannah

Add Videos Above or Below the Fold?
It's true that Google can't read the actual content of a video - but they are getting there slowly but surely. First they'll be able to match audio wave forms, then pick out frames as essentially a selection of image sequences. What Google can do however, is work out when there is a video on page, what size the frame is, how long the content is and how it's encoded/embedded. For additional information - like you say, transcripts, Schema and video sitemaps can be used. Therefore, to a certain extent, you can get away with putting duplicate video content across your site and showing different meta elements in the video sitemap - but only if you don't host with YouTube. Google can work out, using the aforementioned methods, whether or not YouTube videos are direct duplicates and prevent you from uploading them. Nonetheless - videos are always "good" content, by virtue of being a rich media type.

Which URL structure is much better?
Hi David, Thanks for your reply. The site I am going to build has about 500 subcategories under around 15 main categories. Length of categories and sub categories are tiny. And about 50,000 product pages. So in this case which way is better? 1st or 2nd? And why you said "If they are quite long your URLs can get long and ugly and you may be better off with the second option"? Is that means the 1st option have something better than 2nd? Thanks Prasad

List of Best SEO forums
Warrior Forum has some interesting discussions, and you'll certainly get a different point of view than you will at SEOmoz. Many of the tactics and offers you see there are frowned on in these forums. As with all advice, use your own common sense and do a little research on your own.

Google penguin penalty(s), please help
Probably a Panda problem. The site has thin content: Lots of the pages have close to zero content. The site has duplicate content: Content was stolen by your client or others stole it from him. Look here. ============== The title tags need work: <title>woody-coloring-pages-002 - Coloring Pages ABC Kids Fun Pagetitle> ============== The site has a huge intellectual property problem. There may be DMCA's against the site. Rankings could be reduced by the Emanuel Update. ============== Potential Penguin problems: The site solicits "link exchange" and "link partners". ============== My advice to client would be to abandon this site unless he has rights to the images. <title>woody-coloring-pages-002 - Coloring Pages ABC Kids Fun Pagetitle>

How to get around Google Removal tool not removing redirected and 404 pages? Or if you don't know the anchor text?
K thanks for clarifying. I think I have a better understanding now of what's going on. I'm assuming you are finding the links that are pointing to your site through Webmaster Tools. It can take weeks after google has recrawled the page for your updated link profile to be reflected in GWT. But if you are going to theses websites with 404 pages and your link is no longer there then you should have nothing to worry about. I would suggest thoroughly reviewing the links on all the pages that are said to be linking to you and and view the source code for no display tags with links to your site. Unless you own or have permission from the website with the 404 pages, the Removal Tool won't allow you to remove the page from their index. Have you checked on any link explorers to see if they are displaying the same links? Maybe it will provide you with a more refreshed link profile.

Removed Duplicate Domains, What Should I Expect?
Hi Irving, No we had 0 PR outreach pointing to these other domains. Each site had VERY minimal external links that were very outdated. Good to know about the rankings. I was really hoping that I would see a boost but just glad we fixed the problem.
