      Hi Everybody,

Which URL structure is much better?

      Type 01.

      http://www.domain.com/category-a/
      http://www.domain.com/category-a/subcategory-a-1/
      http://www.domain.com/category-a/subcategory-a-2/
      http://www.domain.com/category-b/
      http://www.domain.com/category-b/subcategory-b-1/
      http://www.domain.com/category-b/subcategory-b-2/

      Type 02.

      http://www.domain.com/category-a/
      http://www.domain.com/subcategory-a-1/
      http://www.domain.com/subcategory-a-2/
      http://www.domain.com/category-b/
      http://www.domain.com/subcategory-b-1/
      http://www.domain.com/subcategory-b-2/

How these 2 types can affect for Ranking, Site Links in Google and passing PR from root to other pages?

      Thanks

      Prasad

Probably depends on how much stock you put into siloing in site structure.

One factor to consider is the length of category and sub-category names. If they are quite long your URLs can get long and ugly and you may be better off with the second option.

          Hi David,

Thanks for your reply. The site I am going to build has about 500 subcategories under around 15 main categories. Length of categories and sub categories are tiny. And about 50,000 product pages. So in this case which way is better? 1st or 2nd?

And why you said "If they are quite long your URLs can get long and ugly and you may be better off with the second option"? Is that means the 1st option have something better than 2nd?

          Thanks

          Prasad
