If its not related to your blog I wouldn't put it under the blog URL, however since you're hoping to get links to your site from this plugin in hopes that it will increase your PA, DA, PR then I would not recommend putting into a subdomain as thats where all the link juice will end up. if you will leave it on your main domain then that's where the link juice will go...
Probably best way would be: www.mydomain.com/plugin

Never heard of it. However the best method to find out if it works is to actually implement it and try it. Once you have implemented it you can view your site in a SEO browser like lynx, basically it kind of gives you an idea what the crawler sees when they crawl your site or page... Now keep in mind these SEO browsers are not as advanced as Google's crawlers but it can give you a general idea...

Looks like a copy cat of bit.ly (except it doesn't pay you or show ads)
In case you don't know what bit.ly is it basically takes your full URL which sometimes is very long and converts it into a much smaller version something like bit.ly/asdf12 which many internet users like to use and share on their social networks as its much cleaner and shorter...
adf.ly seems to have the same concept except that they will show an AD before taking you to your destination.
Now the question is.
1. Does someone use their service to share a link to your site? That should be ok, as you want people to share your content and there is nothing wrong with using a link shortener...
or
2. Your site actually appears as an AD on the adf.ly site? Then it might look spammy. However in this scenario your site probably belongs to some ad content sharing service which spreads ads across sites like these and displays these useless ads to visitors.

If the link itself is embedded inside a swf or flv file than it is very unlikely that any crawler will be able to see and follow that link. However even though its a flash site it still contains HTML code that calls the flash files, and if they put a link within that HTML code that calls all other flash files than that link will get crawled.

These days, most of the sites are ran on some sort of CMS or ecommerce platform and/or created using a PHP or ASP instead of static HTML and the pages that you're looking at is a dynamically created output page, the code itself resides on a totally different page that you(the regular visitor) can not view, you can only view the end result. If it was just a regular static HTML page then it would be possible.
Judging by the prices on these sites, they do more of a quick turnaround then quality work. I don't think they would spend their time on optimizing any code, their job is to make a quick buck... I always refer to a saying "what you pay is what you get!"
I think this is what matters:
Your images, are they optimized for the web and don't have any visible distortion, are they small in size?
Your CSS, is it clean? Is it 5000 lines long and 80% of it never used?
Wordpress SEO plugin: either Yoast or All in one SEO
Compression on the server
Minimize javascript
Avoid Flash
Good, Reliable & fast hosting

Are you using a CMS? It might be that somehow you or someone else removed all of your content. Please send more details on what happened prior to this...
WOW $1000 a link from a PR3 site is quite expensive, you can buy a few blog sites with PR3 for that amount or a PR4/5 domain name. The best links that you can get are the natural links by writing great, useful and interesting content. It will take longer of course to get the natural links vs the paid links but in my opinion they are far more valuable. Also with that $1000 I would invest into infographics, if you have someone create an interesting inforgraphic with useful data/information related to your business it could spread like wildfire and get you a good amount of natural links...
To be honest with you, I'm not sure if you can check if a site has been hit or not by the penguin, maybe someone here with more experience can answer that question.
I did a little investigation on the http://www.interiorarcade.com/
Here is what I found, the domain age is 3 years old.
Google PR score is 3 (on the home page)
almost 14000 links from 140 root domains...
Digging deeper into OSE I saw that they quite a few links from a bunch of directories and link farms.
and VERY FEW links from related sites.
So I think there is a very good chance that they were hit by the PENGUIN. take a look at Majestic SEO they keep a history. I've never used it so I can say if PR is being tracked or not but if it is you can see if their PR dropped when penguin was released.

I'm not an expert in SEO yet, so please don't shoot me if I'm wrong. Unless you have a 1 page website or your home page is mainly concentrated on "iphone repair" then it is better to link to a page like www.mysite.com/iphone-repair
In google search results a URL is displayed, and I believe that people often times notice that and would prefer to click on something that would take them directly to the page that seems like  what they're looking for instead of a homepage.

First off, you need to know what the ALT tag is for. The ALT Tag is used to describe an image (a:) for the user in case the image does not load in a browser, instead of displaying just a red X, it will also show your ALT tag which tells the user what the image is about or supposed to be. (b:) for search engine spiders to understand what this image is (since search engine spiders are not really good at  understanding images.
Google wants you to create the best user experience, so in your situation I would use the following ALT Tag:
View / See / Browse all "event name" tickets
or
View / See more "event name" tickets
etc...
If your CMS allows for such function to have a different ALT Tag for the same image on different pages, otherwise you can also create an individual button for each event (however that will probably be a nightmare...)
Create something that will make it a better user experience instead of forcing keywords.
Search engine spiders are pretty smart and will figure out, so having an ALT Tag that is related to the content on the page and does not appear to be stuffed with keywords (meaning looks natural) is the best way to go instead of the generic same old ALT tag for all events.

Do you have separate websites for your businesses? Do you have separate email accounts for your businesses? Do you keep your raw meat separate from your vegetables in the fridge? Do you mix vodka and beer (OK that one is actually not bad) etc...
You definitely need separate accounts for each type of business. When you start following a blog, facebook page, twitter user, etc... let's say about cars and all of a sudden you start seeing information about baby products you start to wonder what's going on?
A. maybe a mistake was made ( if its a 1 time thing)
B. the author has gone mad and trying to solicit non related products
C. the author looses authority and trust on the subject and you start loosing followers and possibly gain negative reactions
I know its hard and extra work but unless you have related businesses like cars and tires or parts you need to separate them and have an individual account for each type of business.

Yes, that is always the toughest thing to accomplish. What you need to explain to them is focusing on amazing content that will be beneficial to your customers is far more important than concentrating on getting links that are of no value and can get you in trouble with Google...
Getting a link to your site from a self made EWD domain with a blog that doesn't have any PR, PA, & DA is absolutely a waste of time and most likely will get you penalized...

Try elance.com <- bunch of elancers that will do it much cheaper. I've never used them for infographics but I did use them for a lot of the other stuff. Just make sure you read their reviews and negotiate all terms upfront.

Like you I'm also struggling to find keywords for my site that are not too competitive or too difficult to try to get a piece of that pie. Google does penalize for duplicate content... I assume you want to do some A/B testing, is that why you have 2 home pages (indexa.php and indexb.php), correct? If so I would remove the 2nd duplicate home page until you have another unique home page to the A/B testing. (I'm not 100% sure as I've never done A/B testing myself, but I think you need to set it up in your GWT account so that Google is aware that you're doing A/B testing, I might be incorrect on this)
Also use the SEOMoz Open Site Explorer:Â http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/Â See if you have any bad/negative links that might of reduced your rankings.
