Would this be legal to do?
I'm not a lawyer nor do I play one on the Internet. But I am a former TV and publishing executive who dealt with these sorts of issues all the time. And I can tell you that your proposed use of copyrighted material for your own commercial benefit raises every possible alarm bell. My advice: don't even bother consulting a lawyer. You will just waste a lot of money for a statement of these obvious alternatives: Forget the whole idea Negotiate with with the copyright holder to license the material (with little chance of success, even if you are willing to pay a hefty fee) If you use the material without licensing it, you will almost certainly be served with a takedown notice. The matter will likely end if you take down the material. If you don't take down the material, you will likely be sued and incur substantial legal fees on the way to a settlement.

Is this appropriate?
Hi Igor, If you're getting HTML or CSS errors, correct those errors ESPECIALLY your HTML errors... I don't want this post to point you in the wrong direction so it's important to note the following: Don't customize your website for search engines, customize it to provide the best user experience on all used browsers Search Engine spiders work mainly in this direction: Google spider -> Make pages primarily for users, not for search engines. Don't deceive your users which is commonly referred to as "cloaking." Avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings. A good rule of thumb is whether you'd feel comfortable explaining what you've done to a website that competes with you. Another useful test is to ask, "Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn't exist?" If these errors are related to layout, you will not be affected since most crawlers look at your site as plain text without trying to render them. Some SEO's would tell you that CSS doesn't really matter, I say we cannot be 100% sure so to be on the safe side try to fix any non-layout related errors. Regards, Jean

Can I get your expert opinion?
"If I did that for every question that I answered here at SEOmoz, I am willing to bet that people wouldn't like it." I think that most approaches would get treated as spam if you over-do them. Probably a good reminder that any technique/tactic that you use that includes the word "every" would probably be better turned down a notch or two!

Is it a good idea to use sub-domains?
In terms of SEO, subfolders are almost always the better option. If your brand pages are in a subfolder, they will receive more of a boost in rankings because they are considered part of the main site by search engines. More of the link authority and trust will be passed to pages in a subfolder. Subdomains are considered as a separate site by search engines - for example the blogs like sitename.blogspot.com or sitename.wordpress.com and receive little trust and authority from the rest of the site.

Keyword Research, Feels like my head is about to explode in 1.2...
I might of answered my own question. Dan Price suggested using HubSpot Videos to learn a little bit about marketing in this post, I've bookmarked it but haven't had a chance to go through it... So in my own search I started going through all my notes, books, videos, and bookmarks. Take a look at this video from hubspot which gives a pretty good example on keyword strategy. I think it cleared everything up for me.

Keyword help for a beginner
Hello Rufus, Thanks for taking your time to help me out. However I'm still not 100$ clear on how I should proceed. For question 1: Would it be ok to combine keywords/phrases in the title tag like this "IBM, DELL, HP. Servers, Workstations, Storage" (would the search engine use the best combination of any of the following or would it rate it differently if I were to use something like this: "IBM Servers, DELL Servers, HP Servers, IBM Workstations, etc..." ? For Question 2: Do you recommend to use a combination of CMS & Ecommerce for a single site, would that be of any benefit? For Question 3: You recommend to create a seperate page for each keyword phrase and write some good content using the targeted keyword(s) and then have a link on the home page to that page, correct? So for the homepage would you recommend using keywords that target our brand OR a few of the product keywords that we think would bring the most traffic in from search engines? Just to confirm, the home page (index.html) wouldn't necessarily have a higher ranking vs let's say (dell-servers.html) just based on its hierarchy or being the home page. (obviously excluding the SEO work)? Thanks again!
