I would have to agree. If you keep to a single domain, you don't have to spread your budget and effort out between other domains. Any piece of content you create can then, possibly, influence your entire domain.

RE: Installing WordPress on a site OR just adding a blog page on the site - Which one is better and why ?
Hi Vikas_Rana
This will depend on who is going to be managing the site. Installing Wordpress throughout your domain is ideal because everything is there already. All the tools and plugins are available in a heart beat.
Some admins prefer to use pure HTML websites because they can customize it according to how they want it, but it does require a little more effort and development ability.

RE: Are on-page optimization tools becoming outdated?
I'm referring to on-page checkers that our clients are using to check for themselves (including SEOmoz's one), and it gets very difficult to explain to them why the tool isn't the most accurate. In the end it looks like we're not doing our job.

Are on-page optimization tools becoming outdated?
So from what I've noticed, Google is using a lot of semantics in their algorithm. When it comes to using a tool to determine on-page, keyword/phrase factors, most on-page optimization tools check exact matches and give you a rating and suggestion based on that. What about synonyms and "natural", related terms?
My question is, are these tools becoming more inaccurate by not using semantic/synonym checks?

RE: CDN Servers
Thanks for your reply. That makes a lot of sense. Had various people telling me conflicting things.

CDN Servers
Will using CDN servers, where your website is synced (cached?) across multiple servers, have an effect on the SEO of your domain?

RE: A backlinks question
The anchor text from your link profile, will never penalize you. It might not be as great as a keyword based anchor text but it doesn't have a negative impact. On the other side, if you have 80% of your link's anchor text saying "blue 1980 aged cheese", Google will see that something's not right and you will not get the value that you would from a natural link profile.
If the links are genuine and are inbound from genuine websites and not link farms or spam sites, you should be fine. Penguin is about penalizing black hat tactics, for example, buying links from link farms.

RE: Duplicate Website.. Please Help!
If the new products are going live, on the duplicate site, as soon as you upload them, then you might have someone who has access your product database or has hacked into it. I cannot see any other reason as to how this is happening.

RE: Duplicate Website.. Please Help!
It could take up to a few months. Google need to manually moderate the links. I'm sure there are plenty people who are doing the same thing.

RE: Tactics to Influence Keywords in Google's "Search Suggest" / Autocomplete in Instant?
There was a very clever Adwords campaign by Converse. Used Adwords very intelligently.

RE: Duplicate Website.. Please Help!
The best way to go about it, is to contact Google and let them know that your site has been duplicated. Google usually chooses the website that has been indexed first but I'm not 100% sure about that. They also take into consideration which website is more active and updates content more often.
If you are concerned about the links that are coming in, you should try to contact the webmasters of those domains and request link removals or no-follow attributes added to links. If they do not reply or refuse to remove the links, you can use the Disavow Tool. But this should only be done as a last resort.

RE: The ideal page title
Location based keywords will be used for Local Results in the SERP. Well ideally that's the goal of it. So if your Google Places listing is optimized, then it will locate your Place listing within the area.
My geography isn't that good but if Essex is basically right next to London then you could use "Wedding photographer in Essex, London". Hopefully Google will tell that you are talking about a single place. Either way, it doesn't look like there is too much competition for that location based key phrase.
-
RE: The ideal page title
Google's algorithms are very clever, they can detect synonyms and similar phrases. So you would be safe to target a phrase such as "Wedding photography in London" and they would associate it with "Photographer".
Remember to think about what your potential visitors would like to see because your title tag will be the first phrase they see in Google's SERP. You never know, maybe people would react better to "The Best Wedding Photographer in London"

RE: Does creating a Facebook App help your social SEO factors?
Social Signals are a factor in SEO but I believe it would be more beneficial for you to focus on creating the best possible usability for your app which in turn will get you the natural likes and shares you need.
Social Signals are very helpful for trending topics. We did an experiment with Social Signals and found that they do push up your rankings but only for a short period of time.

RE: Account access
Unfortunately it doesn't seem like there is that option

Just keep in mind SEOmoz's terms of services in case you're thinking along these lines:
"Your login may only be used by one person – a single login shared by multiple people is not permitted."

RE: Merging two websites to one...
That makes sense. Good luck!

RE: Merging two websites to one...
This can be a tricky move. You are correct in saying that you should create 2 separate folders for each branch but try to make sure you keep your localized keywords for each branch.
If you are going to be using the domain of your stronger branch, you will most probably be moving the current content to new pages and folders (From website.com/ to website.com/branch1) so you will most likely see a drop in ranking until the new pages start gaining authority. You are basically starting over except your domain will still have some of it's authority.
301 redirecting a page/domain won't transfer any authority.
-
RE: Should we consider redirecting a high ranking subdomain page to our homepage?
Redirecting your studio to your home page wouldn't help your home page at all. The authority is on the actual studio.html page and if you are redirected from it, no one (including Google's crawler) can see it anyway.
The other problem you are going to have is how are your visitors going to use the studio if they are being redirected from it each time?
Remember there is no way to "trick" Google into believing one page is better than it actually is. You need to concentrate on keeping a great usability throughout your website, especially with the latest panda updates.

RE: Long URL Warning
Long URL's aren't always a bad thing. It's generally bad only because users are turned off by long URL's.
-
RE: Homepage not showing for searches
You definitely have a point. Deeper page content is much better than home page content.
