I have a few keywords in there. What led me down this path was an insane drop off rate that I noticed for that page. We have an 89.2% drop off from that page as a landing page when I'm looking at our behavior flow report. I decided to check the SERP's to see if anything stood out, to me, the description that google has used when you search "SQL Sentry Plan Explorer" seems misleading. It looks like you are going to get to a blog post from one of our MVP's and you would in fact be going to a product sales page. I was wondering if that could account for the drop off.

RE: Google is not honoring my descriptions
I do not believe it is pulling it from a rich snippet. I do however see a different result depending on how I search for the keywords for that page. That is really strange. Doesn't seem like there is much I can do about this one.

Google is not honoring my descriptions
I finally got our title tags honored and now Google is just making the descriptions whatever it wants. This is happening on pretty much every one of our pages. An example: http://www.sqlsentry.com/products/plan-explorer/sql-server-query-view
SERPS = SQL Server MVP Aaron Bertrand shares a demo kit for Plan Explorer to give you better insight into the advantages of the tool, and to help you share its virtues ...
Description tag = SQL Sentry Plan Explorer is a free query plan analysis tool that will allow you to find the most expensive operators by CPU, I/O, or both.
I can see the description tag when I view source so I know that it is pulling it from the table correctly. What can I do to fix this?

RE: Is your MOZbar still working?
Mine is working just fine. All items are reporting as usual. Maybe you can uninstall and re-install?

RE: Getting client to spend the time writing article of authority
I would at least try to get him to review it and say you want his name on it. If he won't or cannot review it then put it out there with his name on it anyway

Can spiders crawl javascript navigation now?
I was reading Danny Dover's book and decided to try some websites and so far everyone I have looked at has had navigation that does not work with disabled javascript. Is this still as important as it was at the time of publish (2011)? Thanks!

RE: Keyword rich domain name and page title
Google changed some of our page titles and they were actually longer than the accepted pixel width. I'm not sure if this is the case for you but may be worth a try. You can find more information about that here: http://moz.com/blog/new-title-tag-guidelines-preview-tool.

There is no change of address pending for your site
Hi everyone. Google has recently started using our old .net instead of .com in the SERPS. I went to do a change of address for the old http://www.sqlsentry.net and it gives me the "There is no change of address pending for your site." I've tried for both www and non-www and still get the same result. All pages seem to be redirecting to the new site with no issues. Is there anything else I can do to change this? Or is there a step I'm missing? Thanks!

RE: Is this site structure going to kill link juice?
Interestingly if I search it without quotes it comes right up just fine.

RE: Is this site structure going to kill link juice?
Thanks. That has been a big concern for me. We consolidated quite a few pages into one long page but our organic traffic has gone up so I guess so far so good? We are in the process of re-vamping our keywords and re-adjusting our content to match. I'm not sure if I should bring this up or not.

Is this site structure going to kill link juice?
This is a parallax type page and the navigation basically points you to the homepage every time. The sub-menu on the secondary pages only ushers you down the page to various topics. This design has concerned me for some time but I'd like another opinion.

RE: Has anyone added Structured Data Markup Server Side?
Hey David thanks for your response. We are not using wordpress or joomla. We use currently IIS, ASP.net and MVC. This will be going on a software company website.

Has anyone added Structured Data Markup Server Side?
I want to add some structured data to our companies website via microdata through schema.org. I have been asked to gather all of the requirements so that it can be done server side and automated when things change. I honestly don't know where to begin as there are many areas where it can be added. Has anyone done this server side before?

What is the best way to track our rank vs competitors?
I have 181 keywords that I have been asked to track rank on. So first I will track against our url then our competitors. With a 250 word limit will that count for every url I want to track? Is there any other way to do this than using rank tracker?

How accurate is Googles Keyword Planner?
I did some keyword research for our company. Some of the terms we got 100,000 search volume for in 2011 now have only 90 monthly searches. I am doing exact match for both US and Global and neither are any where near those high of numbers. Now I can't say how the old report on this was done but we are all a little skeptical of these numbers. Is there any other tool out there for search volume on Google? The Moz tool while it lists Google as an option only does Bing. Thank you!

PDF or HTML Page?
One of our sales team members has created a 25 page word document as a topical page. The plan was to make this into an html page with a table of contents. My thoughts were why not make it a pdf? Is there any con to using a PDF vs an html page? If the PDF was properly optimized would it perform just as well? The goal is to have folks click back to our products and hopefully by after reading about how they work.

Why are my page titles not being honored?
If you view source you will see my actual title tag http://www.sqlsentry.com/products/performance-advisor/sql-server-performance
The google results are showing a completely different title tag that we do not want used. This was working properly and I'm not understanding how it got changed. Thanks!

UTMZ not provided keywords
Hi everyone. We have implemented the new google ad tracking code and realized that on paid keywords we get the keyword in our UTMZ tracking cookie. However, if someone just searches a term we are not paying for we get "not provided" in the cookie. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue so we can track our keywords?
-
RE: What do you do with .net after a .com migration?
Well we had to leave the urchin code as we cannot figure out how to get the new UTMZ cookie into our code. We did however put back the new UA that we need so results did start to appear again. Thanks for all the help. If anyone has info on the UTMZ cookie please let me know.
