News articles
Please take a look at this site in OSE: www.ehealthinsurance.com.
If you sort by highest ranking domain with do-follow and outside pages only you can see that they have a lot of news sites, like cnn and msn money, with high domain authority to write a bunch of barely useful articles with many links in them. I was interested to see if anyone know how to get these sites to link to you as a resource?
I cant seem to find a contact person nor can I find a way to submit the articles yourself. any help is appreciated thanks.

RE: Does anybody know about a Penguin recovery for a small business website?
If it was panda its algorithmic, wait till Google re-crawls your site. Also keep in mind if you are removing links that you will need to not only remove them but replace them to regain rankings.

RE: Google.com
not enough details it could be a variety of things you gotta be more specific

RE: Checking for content originality in a site
You can use this website to check for duplicate content.
I wouldnt worry about duplicate content too much if it is only a couple of places ripping your content. Keep it on your sites for your audience. I think Google only cares if hundreds or thousands of sites have the same content and only devalue pages with it not penalize. But i could be wrong.

RE: Does directory submissions help to increase the SERP rank(paid)
Directories still work. They may have been devalued and not as effective as they were before but they are still a cheap way to get started. Will you get to the top with directory submissions only, probably not but that doesnt mean they are a waste of money (especially since people think they dont work any more). I use them as a cheap way to supplement my link building.
To answer your question the only difference between the paid and the non paid for 95% of directories is the rate at which they admit your site to the directory. non paid is usually 3-6 months and paid is usually 1-3 days. Its up to you. other than that there is no difference.

RE: How do I get other pages to show in SERPs

Domain authority
Will a link from a website with a high domain authority but a low page authority help my site build authority and rank?
The reason I ask is I have the opportunity to get a .edu link however its on a sub-page with no page rank or authority.

RE: Pro/Cons of JUST using Google Analytics
cause i check impressions and my link list with WMT and the GA for visits, time on site, and goal conversion.
If only they had 1 place to check all 5 lol....
but I'm sure if you wanted more macro data then the other features are useful.

RE: Domain & Page Authority of brand new site?
I have a site that is about 4-5 months old. I don't know how accurate seomoz tool bar is at updating and determiningactual authority (i think theirs is an algorithmic guess) but I out rank plenty of people with higher domain authorities and page authority than mine.
If its brand brand new I'd guess DA around 10 but again I dont think Google takes this into a account as a huge ranking factor.

RE: Pro/Cons of JUST using Google Analytics
Why would you not use Google Web Master tools as well? I personal opinion is that Google info is as good as it gets. While it may not show everything I feel it gives you a good idea of what Google feels is important and looks at on a frequent basis.
the only stats i really look at is time on site, visits, and goal conversion. maybe cause my site is till new but I dont really need any other fancy tools.
I personally also only use WMT and Analytics. Nothing seems to index as fast as Google... obviously

RE: Am I on the right track -- still not seeing results in rank, traffic, etc.
I would start here SEOmoz beginners guide It will give you a basic understanding of what you should be doing.

RE: Am I on the right track -- still not seeing results in rank, traffic, etc.
Of course. SEO is basically about 2 things:
1. On site optimization
2. Off site optimization (link building)once you have optimized your site with good content and a great site structure, you should start promoting and marketing your website. I don't know if you have done it or not but I would make an site map and robot.txt file for the webstie. Once you finish the onsite, move on the marketing it and thats when youll start to see ranking improvements. While good content will drive links being built it doesnt hurt (well it can) to give your website a kick start. If you are ready to move on to the off site optimization I would start learning about link building which is the hard part.

RE: Google + 1
thanks guys the reason i ask is after i convert traffic im having my new clients give the website a +1. i just wanted to know if this was worth the effort since i only knew it effected their search results and not the true organic serps.
-
RE: Google + 1
i know a plus one effects your serps and people in your google cicles but do you think that it has any bearing on regular serp rankings?
-
Google + 1
1. does anyone know if these have a huge seo impact and if it is worth the effort to get these.
2. if you had to choose only one to focus on would you pick fb, twitter, or +1.
