Domain authority

Will a link from a website with a high domain authority but a low page authority help my site build authority and rank?
The reason I ask is I have the opportunity to get a .edu link however its on a sub-page with no page rank or authority.

According to SEOmoz, ‘Domain Authority measures the predictive ranking strength of entire domains or subdomains, Page Authority measures the strength of individual page.’
Whenever a new page has been created, the PA of that page should be none and then with the time people stated link to it and PA grows with time…
Usually .EDU links are promising links (no matter from a sub page) so I think you should go for it because with time the PA will increase… and this link is surly going to help you in many ways…

Yup - it should help. If you have influence over the domain, try to make sure that the page will get linked to from another page on the domain that has page authority already. There could be a danger that the page you get a link on is not naturally crawlable on that domain, and thus wouldn't naturally picked up as spiders crawl that domain. You could also try linking to it from an external source to make sure the link would pick up page authority eventually.
