Keep in mind internal linking doesn't bring much value these days, generating backlinks for those keywords would be much more valuable. Or you can try to rank for these different keywords using different landing pages, on-page optimized for those keywords.

Unfortunately, in Google Analytics, there is no way to see these old speed reports before you did all the changes. (Unless you saved them to your computer or something.)

In my experience this is going to wildly vary. I've seen things all over the map. There's a lot of variables like if there's any custom design involved, who is going to handle the redirects etc with more attention to detail. So unfortunately I do not know of any standard cost per page etc. I would honestly choose the company based upon prior work record - get some references and/or example work. I do find that many times the more expensive option is the "cheapest" in the long run cause they'll do it right the first time, but vet that by talking to some past customers.

Only thing I think really needs adding would be image meta. Those pictures look blank to me when browsing as Googlebot so the real googlebot probably has no idea what's there.

Can this override the automatic authorship system where every page on a domain has been approved as by an author??

Just following up on this one. I've just gone through this process - http://youtubecreator.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/using-google-page-identity-on-youtube.html for Distilled, and It does work. It's not perfectly elegant, but will do the job.

The fact that they're shtml files instead of html files has nothing to do with it. You're definitely not preventing your site from being indexed. Google reads html and shtml files the same way. In fact, if you "view source"  you won't even be able to tell it's shtml. If you want your site to appear in the address bar of your browser as cushingco.com without the index.shtml showing up, all you need is a simple redirect. This will be good for users and for Google. RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} index.shtml RewriteRule .* http://www.cushingco.com/? [R=301,L] Put that code in your .htaccess file, and you're good to go.

I think this is directly related to account ownership - it is a long story but one of our staff members created the profile and associated it with her personal gmail account originally. This required making our company a manager of the Google + page (as opposed to an owner.) We are now waiting to be able to transfer the ownership of the page. I THINK this will eliminate this issue.   If it does, I will be back on here to update. I am still open to any suggestions!
