• Have you checked if the article links are follow links as some article sites dont give follow links until you reach a threshold eg 10 articles accepted
• Have you submitted your site to (good)directories as these can help. Try www.getlisted.org which simplifies submission for yelp, qype etc

Hi although you may be a little reluctant to make changes to a site which is performing well I would take some direction from the error report. It will help. You may find that you start ranking better for main keywords and also start picking up some other keywords also. Too many links; this is not always straightforward if you are an ecommerce site, though if your links are in footer and for seo purposes it may be worth deciding which are important. 302 redirect. Google prefer 301 permanent redirects Title tag too long. This may be a good exercise in that perhaps your title tags are not as well optimised as they might be, not only for SEO purposes but also for human consumption because this is what is bolded inorganic results. A good title tag will increase click through, therefore it could be the case that lower ranking competitors with better title tags are actually getting more visits from organic. Meta description. The same advice here. You should have a unique meta description for all your important pages. This is what will appear in the organic results snippet and again better meta descriptions achieve more traffic. Sean

Getting the location of a searcher from their IP would not really be accurate enough for this. The place Google 'thinks' I am when searching is usually some distance away from my actual location, and unless I bother to go in and change it manually or I'm searching from my phone with the benefits of GPS, it's incorrect. Google Insights for Search (http://www.google.com/insights/search) at least lets you specify 'England' as a sub-region of the UK, however.

This will take a little time, perhaps a few months. In my experience it is not necessarily linked to SEO, more to traffic. Therefore if there is decent traffic without good serps you should achieve sitelinks shortly.

Personally I would make it the first post in the thread. When searching and arriving on forums, people are generally looking for a specific  bit of information which is answered in that thread. Often the first post is a question, so if you can get that question to appear in the meta description in the SERPS, the user is immediately going tho think "hey, that person has asked the same question I did" and click through.

Also I would suggest you mine your adwords account for keywords which actually convert and bring you revenue.If you don't have an adwords account then it will be worth creating one if only just for the purpose of keyword research. You may find that keywords of medium competiveness and relatively easy to rank for  are higher converting than keywords of high competitiveness as by their very nature lots of companies are competing for a slice of that pie.

We are doing some inventory improvements eg new photographs from various angles, etc. We are also writing descriptions for each product.. As one of our suppliers has perfect desriptions on their site what is the theory on how duplicate content will affect our ranking for these products if we copy and paste? Also if we change the descriptions, just how different do they need to be? Thanks

Keep the page up, but 301 redirect it to the page a customer is going to find most useful. That page may be the equivalent deal for the new season, or a page listing the current new-season deals for that destination. That way, any sites who had linked to old offers will pass their link juice to the new offer.

This way, most of the link juice is preserved and the customer is less likely to bounce.

On every occasion that we receive a thank you email, we explain how valuable to our business an online review is, and give a link to enable customer to do so. This strategy has worked very well so far..

Its all coming back to me. My SEO brain is a bit rusty unlike my alter ego who sometimes posts here..

We are lucky on this occasion as the manufacturer site has great B2C descriptions which sell the product well. Also, none of our main competitors are taking the descriptions indeed nor have they taken time to write their own.

I believe that this practice is at best a little old hat and at worst has a negative effect on the client's site. On a homepage there will be links to deeper pages eg brands, categories, etc. It is through the homepage that juice will flow to these pages. If there are unnecessary outbound links on the homepage then this juice will be diluted, if only by a little. As the objective of an SEO is to optimise the clients page they really shouldn't post footer links. If they insist? then they should be no follow.

Google clearly understands this deal was primarily designed to bypass their policy and views these directories as paid links. Use of these sites can lead to penalties.

This may be an often asked question, however here goes; If Google penalises sites for paid links, paid directories, etc  what is there to stop competitors buying links to a site to get you penalised. How can Google tell the difference? Or is more likely that they will stop any linkjuice passing from these sites which is not quite the same as a penalty. You would still have the linkjuice of your legitimate links**. Indeed as effect from these paid directories is little in any case, loss of their linkjuice might have little or no effect.**
