All redirects should be a 301 in order to pass link benifits of the legacy page. You will still lose some link juice through a 301 but a 302 shall not pass benefits heres another thread on this topic.

RE: Second rebranding, what's the best approach?
Option 2, redirect chains should always be avoided and should go straight to the final destination URL.

RE: A case of negative SEO?
agree with wesley, if there is no associated links your probably ok, although from a brand image point of view you may wish to contact the webmaster and request the post is removed. You can normally find contact detail for genuine sites with WhoIs.
Within the SEO community there is a continuing debate as to whether negative SEO actually exisits. With this one mention your almost certainly fine, but i personally am of the opinion this very much a reality of the SEO world having experienced this first hand on multiple occasions now. But in these cases we are talking about many thousands of links built in just a few days, so again i return to my point that if this is isolated you are fine, and even then the inpact of any negaitive SEO attack will be dependant on the size of your link profile,
If you were interested to know a little more on the debate however a few useful articles to start on can be found here (From Search engine round table) and here (A whiteboard friday by Rand). Another good example to look up is when Rand issued a challange to damage his blog from negative SEO,
Anyway, off topic a little, sure you should be fine.

RE: How on earth does this rank?
WhoIs tells me it appears to have been registered on the 8th May, it could just be benifiting from its 'Google holiday' and you will see it drop down the rankings over the next days weeks. Agree its a low quality site however

RE: Webmaster Tools and Domain registration
Webmaster tools will only be interested in the domain that actually hosts the site, others you own but do not actually have associated pages, would not need to be registered.

RE: Do backlinks which contain parameters pass value
In addition to Lynns point it would be worth discounting these URL parameters in Google webmaster tools and bing in order to avoid any possible duplicate content issues, rather than leaving it to them to work out which will also avoid the case Lynn mentions for organic search (A case we also expoerienced with a client!)

RE: Should I use a Google Plus page or Google Plus for my business?
Are you posting the articles on your site? if so i believe you can probably do both here, the Business account can be linked to the website and you can also promote the posts through here, and you could use Rel author to associate the article to your personal account in order to build a reputatuion as an authority. If you will have multiple writers contributing that may move on then maybe using rel publisher and focusing on building the brand reputation may be better.

RE: Paying for a Link
Agree with David, if the sites relevent and having your site there will actually add value for the user, a single paid link will not really have any negative impact.

RE: Advertising on Bing...
We use bing and see the same as Stephen and Branden report, however for our market segment (Financial) we also find this chanel to be better risk with lower bad rates. Evidently not sure how this would correlate to other segments but an interesting behaviour for us.

RE: Website 'stolen', no contact details
We had exactly the same issue with a client. They had simply re-hosted their site under at least 10 other domain names they owned in the misguided perception that this would improve their SEO.
They were all hosted on the same server as your latest response seems to state, and we tracked them all down by doing a reverse IP lookup using this tool.
We then had to ammend the clients DNS records for the duplicate sites and 301 them to the true site. The same site later recieved a link penalty and we then parked those domains ratyher than redirected.

RE: 302 redirect (temporary redirect)
Do you control the domain these 302's are coming from?

RE: Correct Implementation Of Canonical Tags
You can canoncical to the same page yes, i saw a video or blog from Matt Cutts just the other week confirming this but cant for the life of me find it again now. Will pop the link on here if i find it unless anyone else in the community can provide confirmation before hand.

RE: Retail Store Detail Page and Local SEO Best Practices
The general approach we take on our sites is to have the URL in the following format:
root-domain.co.uk/county(state)/city/district
I would not worry overly at having the full address in the URL as that’s very specific, so long as you’re hitting the local area your users will be searching for that will be sufficient for local targeting. It will also keep the URL shorter and cleaner, and in my opinion more user friendly. The user will be able to find the specific address on the store page.
This whiteboard Friday doesnt focus on your specific query but you may find it of use.
Hope this helps.

RE: Why isn't google indexing our site?
Without seeing the specific pages i cant check for things such as noindex tags or robot text blocking access, i would suggest you double check these aspects. The pages will need to be accesible to Search engines when they crawl your site, so if there are no links to those pages Google will be unable to access them.
How long have they been live since the site re-launch as it may just be that they have not been crawled yet, particuarly if they are deeper pages within your site hierarchy.
Heres a link to Googles resources on crawling and indexing sites incase you have not been able to check through them yet.

RE: Can any one recommend some good up to date resources?
Agree with all of the above, it's probably best if you ask some specific questions of the community and we will likely give you the answer you are after and point you in the direction of an article or two that are still correct you will be able to find further information on.
The constant change will either drive you crazy or become one of the things you love about SEO

RE: Mention on a website
I would certainly ask for the link, nothing to lose, particurly if you can provide them with a usefull content page to link to that they may feel adds value.

RE: Duplicate titles reported with canonical
Hi Karl,
A similar question was asked the other day on this chain, and the SEOMoz staff left a very helpfull answer. I'd suggest having a look through this to see if you can fiqure out your specific case.
Hope this helps.

RE: Is commenting on other peoples blogs / articles good for seo?
When a site links to another it passes that site some of its authority and SEO benefit. Only links that are 'follow' will do this, a nofollow link will not. These values are set by the site owner, often on blogs etc all links are set to nofollow to avoid comment spam where people are trying to get links to their site.
If your comments and links are relevant and add value to an article by all means comment and drop a link, you will be able to check if they are no follow or not to. This post by Rand, although not written to answer this specific question, is useful to illustrate the difference between these links and their relationship in passing link juice.
A higher domain authority site as a rule of thumb is generally better yes, but there are other important factors involved that Google will take into account, then there are considerations about having a link in the comments section as opposed to elsewhere on a page. Again i recommend a read through this post by Rand, Not all links are created equal.
The two articles above should help familiarise yourself with the nuances of link building and the more advanced issues, but if you would like a simple yes no answer then yes, leaving a link in the comments section of a article that is a follow link, can help your SEO. But use this tactic as one part of a balanced link building strategy.

RE: Why do websites use different URLS for mobile and desktop
Its often a case of logistics in updating a site to be responsive design, the only way the same URL can serve dynamic content to mobile and desktop devices. Previously many sites have had to create alternate mobile sites.
So while responsive is now the recomended approach, many sites still use subdomains or directorys. This useful post also casts light on when these multiple methods are most suitable. When Responsive Design is not an option.
Hope this helps.

RE: How do I remove a Canonical URL Tag?
Ok, well you can set canonical tags in Yoast. Without seeing you site set up or the offending pages i am hesitant to give more detailed advice. Best of luck.
