      HI everyone,
I'm quite new to SEOmoz and to the SEO industry.
I like to think that I have a basic knowledge of SEO now after a few weeks of reading article, books, watching videos etc. but I'm struggling with the practical application.

Not to long ago to found out that "keyword" weren't reference to meta keywords as some of these articles had said, this turned my understanding upside down for some time until I did more research on keywords. Iv also found that some parts of the SEOmoz "beginner's guide" are outdated, which Iv read from cover to cover.

But this got me a little concerned, how do I know any of the information iv spent my time learning is correct and not outdated?

So I was hoping does anyone know of any recent up to date resources/guides/case studies/ practical application case studies I can have a look at?

      Thank you in advance

Overall, just focus on the whiteboard fridays, this blog, webmasterworld  and anything from Matt Cutts.  There are a ton more, but IMHO these are the best resources.

Totally agree. The thing is you have to just keep up with it. Blogs, forums, twitter, and mozinars are the best way to do it. Daily.

Yes and more than anything, learn from your successes and mistakes but don't get caught up in "well this worked for that client so it will work for this one" things change, different techniques seem to have different levels of effectiveness depending on the client and their market etc...  Nothing will teach you like experience will.

              lol...  great answer.

The best and most up-to-date resource can be obtained by posting a question to SEOmoz Q&A..... because the people here will tell you what they think TODAY.    🙂

Agree with all of the above, it's probably best if you ask some specific questions of the community and we will likely give you the answer you are after and point you in the direction of an article or two that are still correct you will be able to find further information on.

The constant change will either drive you crazy or become one of the things you love about SEO 🙂

Thanks guys I try to keep up on the followings on a few forum sites along with some youtube subscriptions, I been using them to teach myself what I can.

I'm actually more of a web developer than a SEO but my boss is wanting me to do a more on the SEO side.  I enjoy both side to my job and I'm not intending on giving up on either any-time soon unless they have no need for an apprentice anymore.

I'm having more of an issue with practical application at the minute, I get time during the week to do my research but I also have to attempt to improve some sites I'v created, I like to think I'm doing a good job on them (I'm probably not haha) but I'm starting to struggle with things like how to do effective link analysis which isn't something I feel like I can read about and then know what I'm doing. I learn best by watching and doing which I'm finding hard within the smoke and mirrors that is SEO haha.
