Is it a good practice to submit a page linking to my site to expedite google finding the link or is it better to wait for the google spider to find it?
Thanks,
Ron!
I've heard that fresh content helps boost your position in the serps. If i wrote all new unique content on some of my pages that havent been changed in several years, would i see a boost in the rank? If so, how many positions?
i've been told that it is possible that google discounts the weight or page rank passed in footer links of websites and my website has the navigation to many of my pages in the footer of each page. My whole website is about 20 pages so each page has links to the 5 most popular pages at the top and the rest of the links are in the footer of each page. Am i losing page rank by having these links in the footer? Should i make my navigation different?
I have lots of articles on my site so i thought it might be not only helpful to my readers but give my pages an seo boost if i placed in context links in the body of my articles to other pages of my site. Does this sound like a good idea?

My business address is a residential listing as I run an onsite service business and don't have an office other than my home office. how does Google differentiate legitimate home offices like mine and fake residential listings from spammers? am I in danger of being banned because I have a home office?
are the related searches at the bottom of google highly searched keyword phrases and hence good to optimize other pages for on your website?
Ron
They would be residential addresses. It sounds like a bad idea if i am risking being banned.
My competitors have been listing the general addresses of office buildings in different cities without listing an office number. I know for a fact these are bogus listings and they don't actually have an office in these office buildings. Can i report them via a SPAM report to Google?
THanks for the help Ryan! Another question, I have some of my workers living in some of the cities where my services are performed and was wondering if i could list their address in those cities as my business address in those cities for a google local listing. They would be able to answer any letters that google sent those addresses to verify them. I could then use moz local for the citations in those cities using the landing page on my site specifically for those cities. This way, i'll have local listings coming up in the cities that i service helping customers to find me. I see my competitors doing this a lot and it works wonders for them. Is this a good idea or bad idea?
If I put my address on my website, does it help that page to rank for local searches? especially if it's the same address that i am using for moz local and all my citations?
I want my other pages to rank in different cities as well as i have a service that travels to all cities in my state. Will that address of my home town on my home page make google think that i don't service other cities?
Thanks,
Ron
Also, can i use a deep page on my website instead of the home page. We provide services all over Texas but there is a deep page on my site dedicated to the city location of my business that would be better to list on the local search results.
I used your "check my isting" and i see a lot of my listings that have the name of my business wrong. When i use Moz local, will it correct all those listings for me?
Will it help my pages to rank for local queries better?
Why does it say in the q and a that it is only for businesses in multiple locations?
I am currently showing up in local results for my business but when i run a Moz local test, it shows that i only have a current score of 29% and by using Moz Local it says i could get to a score of 86%. Will enrolling in Moz local help my pages to rank higher in the search engines for different queries, or does it just help my site show up in the local results at the top of the serps? I only have one business in one city so it might not be worth it for me. My business is a service though and i travel to many different cities. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

I have two websites that are extremely similar and want to consolidate them into one website by pointing both domain names at one website. is this going to cause any duplicate content penalties by having two different domain names pointing at the same site? Both domains get traffic so i don't want to just discontinue one of the domains.
Does anyone foresee any future guest blogging penalties coming from google if the guest blogs are high quality blogs? I'm wondering if a future google update is going to hit even more sites that have used guest blogging as guest blogging continues to grow. I like guest blogging to drive traffic to my site but am scared to used it for fear of future updates in the algorithm.

do three way links still help in moderation? Have some friends with websites in the same genre as mine and was told three way links were better than reciprocal links.
Thanks mozzers!
i was going use that domain to start a new website in the same genre as the previous site and hopefully get a jump start on link building and get some traffic due to the links that were already in place to that domain. I wasn't planning on doing a 301 to my other sites but i was planning on linking to my other sites which are in the same genre as well. Does this sound like a good idea?
What exactly do i use archive.org for?
Thanks for your input!
do links in footers or side bars count less than links in the center of the web page? How much less if so?
I have some articles on my site. Would i get more of a boost in rankings to pages of my site by placing links in the text of my articles on my site to other pages on my site?
Thanks mozzers!
when buying used domains, how do i see the links pointing to that domain? Sometimes the open site explorer doesn't show any links to the domain, especially if the domain is parked.
Obviously a domain for sale with 1000 domains linking to it has lots of SEO Value right?
Thanks mozzers!
all the page titles in my site have hyphens between the words like this: http://texas.com/texas-plumbers.html
I have seen tests where hyphenated domain names ranked lower than non hyphenated domain names. Does this mean my pages are being penalized for hyphens or is this only in the domain that it is penalized?
If I create new pages should I not use hyphens in the page titles when there are two or more words in the title?
If I changed all my page titles to eliminate the hyphens, I would lose all my rankings correct? My site is 12 years old and if I changed all these titles I'm guessing that each page would be thrown in the google sandbox for several months, is this true?
Thanks mozzers!
Awesome, thanks so much for the advice. I did the search on the band and that's exactly the kind of places that i was looking for to list in and am already listed on some of these sites that came up. My band is more pop rock and I'm a lead vocalist and lead guitarist.
Thanks again for input!
