Weird 404 Error URL's - Where to redirect?
For some reason, I end up with a bunch of weird 404 error URLs like these.
- /KRVWZ/SVfSZ/
- /wp-content/upl
- /MKWTZ/RKYQZ/
- /wp-content/upload
What should I do with them? Should I redirect them or is there a better way to do something with them. I do use Yoast Premium if that makes a difference.
Thanks in advance.

Redirecting an Entire Site to a Page on Another Site?
So I have a site that I want to shut down http://vowrenewalsmaui.com and redirect to a dedicated Vow Renewals page I am making on this site here: https://simplemauiwedding.net.
My main question is: I don't want to lose all the authority of the pages and if I just redirect the site using my domain registrar's 301 redirect it will only redirect the main URL not all of the supporting pages, to my knowledge.
How do I not lose all the authority of the supporting pages and still shut down the site and close down my site builder?
I know if I leave the site up I can redirect all of the individual pages to corresponding pages on the other site, but I want to be done with it.
Just trying to figure out if there is a better way than I know of. The domain is hosted through GoDaddy.

Ranking at 2 and 3 for a Desired Keyword - But Missing #1
I have a keyword I usually rank #1 for "Maui Beach Wedding" that I am now ranking 2 and 3 for with two separate pages below:
My home page: https://simplemauiwedding.net
and the below internal page I am linking from my home page that I really want that term to rank for.
https://simplemauiwedding.net/beach-wedding-packages
What is the best way to pass the authority from one to another for this particular keyword. I want this URL https://simplemauiwedding.net/beach-wedding-packages to rank for the term, not my home page which has a link pointing to this page from my home page which I was hoping would point the authority to it for the term.
What are some other ways to signal which page I prefer Google to pick up for the keyword I want to rank for?
Thanks

RE: Lost ranking after domain switch
How long has the drop in traffic been happening for?
I have switched names of a few branded domains to shorter URLs like it looks like you are doing and I saw a significant drop in traffic for a while, around 3 months. I was sweating it hard, but it did eventually pop back up.
Just try to build some new quality links to the new URL using your brand name as the anchor text and also the naked URL as the anchor text so Google can see that it is emerging as the new preferred domain. A blog post also helps to announce the domain change and once created spread it far and wide on social media.

RE: Wordpress Tag Organization Tips
Thanks for the helpful tips Donna. We recently moved over to Wordpress from another platform with a subdomain on http, so we have quite a bit of content to transfer over to the new blog and redirect it from the old. Available time and resources are definitely a huge challenge right now.
I'm just trying to make sure I am going forward doing the best I can of categorizing the information (specific tags) and making them visibly available because our staff uses it regularly to direct clients to show what they will get for certain locations and shoot types etc.
Wordpress is our blogging back end and our front-end site isn't as easy to work with from a categorization standpoint, but works extremely well from a design standpoint so I am trying to make the most of what I have to work with.
I guess I am really looking at some good design ideas of how to organize the tags from a visibility and usability standpoint.
I'm definitely in the house cleaning stage of the whole process.

Wordpress Tag Organization Tips
Curious if anyone has some good examples of ways to organize your WordPress tags without making your sidebar a football field long and hard to navigate. My blog is https://karmahill.com/blog and I could use some ideas.
We have main categories of photo shoot types, for example, "Couples", located on the sidebar.
We want to add tags to go with those main categories for further categorization and user experience example:
-
Couples
-
Engagement
-
Proposals
-
Honeymoon
-
Maternity
My question is, do I need to make "tag" pages for those posts to reside on or is their another way to get it done with less work, that is much faster? I don't want to have to make 30 tag pages or is that just what you have to do?

Local Ranking with No Physical Address in New Service Area - How to Rank?
OK,
SO, I am a wedding company in Maui, Hawaii and have an established business on one island with a physical address. http://simplemauiwedding.net
We have started a new team in Oahu, Hawaii http://simpleoahuwedding.com and we provide service there and have a full team in place. How can I rank for Local Search on that Island with no physical address?
I would love to hear some proven strategies.
Thank you

RE: Please Help (Newbie)
What have you done for link building? A spider web with only one thread catches few flies.
You need to start putting some content together about you business, how can you help your target customer? Then you need to start spreading it with links back to whatever page you are trying to rank for with occasional anchor text or long tail keywords.
Making sure you have company profiles on all the major outlets is a start: Twitter, Facebook, linked in, G+. Then make sure you post your newly created content there so it can get found. I noticed you haven't even filled out your Moz profile with a link back to your site...... all these little things add up to a lot.
Then get your business going on Moz local, this will create links and keyword rich descriptions that will be linked back to your business. Even if the links are no follow it helps Google know contextually what your site is about.
Make sure you have a blog. Make posts that can contribute to your target keyword (audience) and have them point to the target page.
Don't get discouraged it takes months and months depending on your keyword difficulty.
Good luck

Rss Directories Worth the time? If so Which ones?
All I could find was a bunch of ancient posts on RSS directories. Just getting a new site set up and I want it distributing content as far as possible all white hat.
Are Rss directories even worth my time these days. I was thinking of submitting to the top 10. We blog about 2-10 posts per week.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

Updating Local Listings that Moz Local Won't Update completely?
I use Moz local and have for over a year, so my profiles should all be spot on by now. How can you update some inconsistent info that Moz does't provide or is not updating. I have tried to go in and claim some of the listings that the information isn't filled in properly or the ones that don't have the categories filled out that I know Moz Local won't do, but it is saying it is managed by Moz and won't let me claim it.
What can I do.

RE: Schema or Microdata Formatting Creator
Thanks Logan. That is exactly what I wanted. James is right it is for Local SEO. Bummer it doesn't have small business listing.

Schema or Microdata Formatting Creator
Does anyone know of a Schema or Microdata Formatting Creator that you can just put your data into and your Schema or Microdata code will pop out? I am not a coder at all.
I want to use it form my local search data so I can just add in all the info and the code will be created.
Thanks for the help.

CNAME record for WWW to Non-WWW Vs. 301?
I was just chatting with the person who set up our site on our domain hosting and they said they added in a CNAME record to transfer the www version of my site to the Non-www version.
Shouldn't this be set up as a 301 redirect? I have hundreds of links built to the www version and only a few to the non-www version.
Or
Could I just add in a 301 in addition to the CNAME record?
This is not my wheelhouse and need a little advice.
Thanks in Advance.

RE: Company name in Site Meta description?
Thanks for the info guys. I didn't think it mattered, great to get some validation.

Company name in Site Meta description?
Ok. So I know that you should have your company name in the site title, but is it all that important in the site description?
The reason I ask is because I am competing with another company for the #1 position (I was number 1, now #2) that has an 8 character name and mine is 22 taking away from a great deal of real estate in my 150-160 character site description in which I could provide additional information describing my company.
Should I remove my name in the site description enabling me to use more descriptive keywords and actionable text such as (Find, research, contact, professional, info) etc.
Thanks,
