Defining Canonical First and Later No Indexing
Happy Monday to you! I agree with Mike - you need to use the 301 redirect to point from the old pages to the new pages. If you are reworking the site, and have to use parameters, consider dropping the parameters in a hash - this hides them to the bots and you get full SEO benefit for links Credit Rand for this excellent walk through - http://moz.com/blog/whiteboard-friday-using-the-hash There are other ways to deal with parameters and re-sorts of a result page, but it depends on your situation. Bottom line, if you are going through the effort of a site restructure, don't set yourself up to end up with the same problem you have now. Figure out what your "Golden URLs" are for categories and products around key words and then find a way to "hide" all the other versions of those same pages (in this example you want to hide all the re-sorted and search result pages) from Google. This is why I would often use a "no follow, no index" meta tag on a page vs a canonical. Do not waste GoogleBot's time crawling a bunch of pages that you are not wanting to rank anyway. Setup the structure so the crawl is clear and focused on the pages that are the most important. Cheers!

Rank Tracker displaying grossly wrong ranking
Hi! Thanks for the question. It looks like the problem you're running into is coming from how you're running the search in the Rank Tracker tool. If you run a search with the exact URL, we'll only search for keyword rankings based on that URL. If you choose the entire subdomain, then we'll search for rankings from the entire site. Here's a screenshot that shows you what I mean: http://screencast.com/t/6528Yl8ka Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks and have a great day! Best, Sam Moz Helpster

How to create backlink to prominent sites which competition has
Going after competitor backlinks is always a crapshoot, but you can start by trying to figure out how your competitors got their links up. Failing that, really try to learn more about the site and who's responsible for updating the site. Think of ways that your site could add value to their readers, then ask the website owner if they can add the link. As with any interaction, try to provide value first before asking for it. Another tactic that may work is broken link building. Find links on their site that are broken, and create content that was similar to what was being linked to before, and see if they'll replace the link.

Rel Canonical and Rel No Index, Follow
Do those pages help the user ? Are they being used/browsed by your users ? Or are they just like an Archive. Are they limited to 10 pages ? If I were you, I'd also look at other areas, both on-page and off-page and do a competitive analysis to see what is it that your competition is doing that you are not that is outranking you.

Authorship Photo Not showing in for last 6 months now
Hi Gagan, thanks for the clarification. Chris is correct about why Google is striking through some terms in the SERPs. But we digress ... back to Authorship! As I noted earlier in this thread, I'd work on increasing engagement with your site content, as well as boosting the authority of your Google+ profile. This may result in Authorship displaying more often, for more queries. I would also definitely work on increasing the quality of your blog posts. The content of many of your posts is very similar to product descriptions and reviews on other sites. This should help your rankings, too (not to mention drastically reduce the changes of your site being penalized for duplicate content.) Hope that helps!

Is submitting site map advisable after 1.5 yrs
Depending on your sites hierarchy and structure, the sitemap may make the whole crawling process easier for Google rather than making the crawler dig through your menus and links to find pages within your site. So in that case, it wont limit Google. Sitemaps can also include instructions on how often a page changes to determine how often Google should revisit that page. If your pages that have already been crawled are fairly static and do not change often, set the crawl frequency rate to low so you dont have to worry about taking up too much of your crawling bandwidth on already indexed pages. Here is a good blog post about setting your sitemap page priority levels: http://www.seoboy.com/does-setting-priority-and-frequency-in-your-sitemap-help-increase-rankings/

Is a separate title tags and description reqquired
Hello Gagan, please note my suggestion is to use "noindex, follow", not "noindex, nofollow". Your links will still be followed, it's just that your paginated pages will not be indexed which should eliminate problems with duplicate content. You might even be more interested in using rel="next" and rel="prev" as described here.

Is 301 redirect suggested on pagination pages
For paginated pages, I recommend using the rel=next and rel=prev tags. Here is more info: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2012/03/video-about-pagination-with-relnext-and.html

How to remove hundreds of duplicate pages
Okay, I took a look at the plugin Ben recommended, and took another look at the SH404SEF one. The free one Ben recommended (http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/site-management/sef/1063) looks like it can help out with some duplicate content - but what I recommend doing is getting the SH404SEF here http://anything-digital.com/sh404sef/features.html because it allows for setting up canonical tags and also gives you the option to add the rel=next feature to your paginated pages, which is one of your problem areas. One thing I noticed though is that it specifically states it "automatically adds canonical tags to non-html pages" - so that means it will apply it automatically to Joomla's defaul pdf view, etc. While this is helpful, it may not solve the full issue of your duplicate pages with the undefined and "/%5C%22/" issue. It does however state that it "removes duplicate URLs" - how it identifies and removes these, I am not sure. You may want to try it out because it is useful for other optimization tasks - or contact the owner for more information. If the tool doesn't recognize and remove the duplicate pages caused by /undefined/ and "/%5C%22/" then you should disallow crawling of these in your robots.txt file. While you are in your robots.txt file you should remove the /images/ because you want those to be crawled - Joomla adds that in by default. Because a lot of these pages have already been crawled, you should do a 301 on the duplicate pages to their matching page. This sounds like it will be a long process - this may be aided by the sh404sef plugin - not sure. I just want to also add that I am in no way affiliated with any of these plugins.

File permissions save. any suggestions
Not sure I understand the question? filezilla does not hold the permissions, the user in question does. Permissions for a linux bases system can be activated with ACL, and would be saved at the OS level (so if you took an image, it would take the file permissions. I am not sure of a tool, that would do this other than just basic linux tools, and in windows it is saved locally with the user, unless group policy is in control which Active Directory and Registry of host machine would hold the user permissions. Maybe I misunderstoofd the question though.. Shane

Press Release in 3 PR6 Sites against yahoo submission
Gagan, Yeah, duplicate content can diminish link benefits. Check out this video from Wil Reynolds about #RCS: http://www.seerinteractive.com/blog/seomoz-meetup-rapid-fire-link-building-strategies As for the Yahoo Directory, in my experience I haven't seen any boost in rankings for websites that had this link. Vice versa... I haven't seen a drop off in rankings when the link was taken down. Focus on QUALITY, not quantity and you'll win in the SERPS. Brodie nMADOLcArUs

Can the experts out here can review our site for improved performance and suggestions
I think your best off starting with an SEOmoz crawl on your site. Then if you need any help with specific errors we can help you with that. Your asking for a site audit which can take a lot more time than if you were to do a crawl and link with your Google analytics account.

Can changing dynamic url of over 2000 pages site after a year will change its ranking
Building on what LankaHQ said: - if i hire an agency to change over dynamic url to static url of these 2000 pages - will it also change all Search engine ranking positions of existing urls Yes, but probably not much. 95-99% should stay the same. - Will all the seo effort and backlinks build over 15 months will still hold valid or this will just back to square one due to change of urls Since you will implement the 301's the link juice should pass to the new page (although typically not 100% of it). - is it advisable to get the url changed from dynamic to static one - especially when site is receiving over 75,000 visitors every month The static urls will probably get a higher ctr than the dynamic. Also, could get you ranked higher based on the new url string and how it matches to a query.
