RE: Is this a good practice to include website logo in H1?
Hi Maksim,
I would avoid using an image in any H-tag. In my experience and in my reading there just isn't any benefit to placing an image in it. Plus, it really is intended to denote the text heading of the page's content.
Basically, I'm not aware of any benefit at all from placing an image in h1, but I am aware of benefits of putting text in h1 (it provides a headline which can be good for user experience, and there's an admittedly tiny benefit to SEO). So I'd just stick to text. You can still use the image, just outside the h1 tag.

RE: Linkpage spam score
Hi there!
I just want to add this post to Umar's recommendation of that Whiteboard Friday.

Also, if your site has a very high spam score, you may want to look into the other potential factors, beyond just the large number of external links. You should be able to see them in Spam Analysis.

RE: I want my website to rank on the first page for a very competitive keyword
Hi Donald!
EGOL is spot-on. I just also want to share a couple resources you have access to from Moz that could help.
Apologies if you've seen these elsewhere in Q&A; I recommend them all the time. The first is Cyrus Shepard's "Keywords to Concepts" blog post. It'll give you a really good sense of how to approach your keyword targeting from a topical perspective, rather that scrambling to rank for specific keywords.
The second is the Full SERP Analysis report, which is part of the Keyword Difficulty Tool. You can run it on the keyword you're trying to rank for and see what factors are most likely leading the first-page sites to rank. There's a video on it here.
I hope that helps!

RE: Sites still rank who don't seem like they should. Why?
Hi Radi!
It looks like you're a Pro member, so one thing I'd suggest is to run a Full SERP Report on the keywords you're concerned with using the Keyword Difficulty tool. It can give you a better sense of what's going on.

Cyrus made a great video on the report here.
I hope that helps!

Hi J.P.! Did you ever get it working?

RE: Recommended 3rd party Moz compatible dashboard
Hi Charles, (EDIT: I mean Louisa! Saw the screen name, but not the signature.)
Great question! At the moment, though, the really aren't any third party dashboard platforms that can import Moz campaign data because our API is limited to the Mozscape index. So, while there are a handful of platforms that use Moz link data—Raven, for example—there aren't any that'd allow you to import anything else.

RE: Accessibility / display none
Hi there!
Just a heads-up, you may get more of a response if you can provide a bit more detail about what it is you're seeing. What problems are you having? What's the context?
The more info you can provide, the better.

RE: Page Authority vs Domain Authority for Inbound Links
Hi there!
Not to sound flippant, but the answer is "both." Keep in mind that Domain Authority and Page Authority actually look at the same metrics. The difference is that Page Authority only looks at the link profile of a particular page, and Domain Authority looks at the link profile of the entire domain. Either/both will tell you whether a given page/domain is likely to be considered legitimate and trustworthy.
If you haven't, I'd recommend reading the Beginner's Guide to Link Building to get a solid understanding of what to look for.

RE: Spam score 9/17 and redirect Question
Hi onlinegusto,
I endorsed Jordan's answer because I felt that it was a succinct answer to the question. I dounderstand how and why the response wasn't satisfying to you, though, so I'll attempt to address your question in its entirety.
**Does the Spam Score generally take long to drop? **That depends. As Jordan and I have both noted, Spam Score updates along with the rest of our link metrics with each new index. When your Spam Score updates will depending on when, and even if, the latest crawl indexed your site. I recommend reading this Help Hub page on Mozscape updates to get an understanding of how that works.
I also recommend reading Rand's post from the launch of Spam Score, which goes into those 17 factors. That could give you an idea of the sort of things that could be giving your site that score of 9/17, which in turn could give you an idea of what you'll need to do to bring it down.
**Should I try and stop the permanent redirect and direct my .com to the .net domain? **Hard to say. Though TLD is considered in Spam Score, it only considers TLDs highly associated with spam to be problematic. That's not the case for either .com or .net, so the simple fact of your TLD isn't a factor in your site's 9/17. If one or the other has a lower score, feel free to use that one, but be mindful of the other SEO issues that could arise.
Are there experts who can lower my score? Also hard to say. There certainly aren't any experts I'm aware of who focus specifically on lowering Spam Score. There are experts who focus on penalty recovery, but I see no indications that your site has been penalized. I can't speak for the entire community, as members contribute to these discussions on their own time and without compensation. There isn't any directory of community members and their specialties.
It's worth pointing out exactly what Spam Score measures. The 17 factors are correlations, not in and of themselves indicators of spam. I'll let Rand take it, from the blog post I linked:
The overall Spam Score is currently an aggregate of 17 different "flags." You can think of each flag a potential "warning sign" that signals that a site may be spammy. The overall likelihood of spam increases as a site accumulates more and more flags, so that the total number of flags is a strong predictor of spam. Accordingly, the flags are designed to be used together—no single flag, or even a few flags, is cause for concern (and indeed most sites will trigger at least a few flags).
To lower your score, the best thing you can do is focus on the particular flags that you'll find in the Open Site Explorer report. And, of course, to build high-quality links.
**Should I look for non spammy niche directories in its niche and submit my site to them to increase link authority and nofollow links? **I would never recommend any link directories as a means for building your link profile. They're very unlikely to help in that regard. They _may _help by driving a certain amount of traffic to your site, but that will do very little to help with Spam Score or authority.
So, to summarize:
1. Spam Score updates along with the Mozscape index, so it could take some time to see a change.
2. As—at least partially—a link metric, Spam Score can be improved by building a quality link profile. That could include disavowing your own spammy links, but please be careful if you decide to do so.
3. Making positive changes on your site will lower your Spam Score over time.
Please be empathetic to Jordan and me and understand why we both felt that his response provided an effective, boiled-down answer to your question. Good luck, though! I know how frustrating it is to see a metric like that with no apparent way to improve.

RE: Keyword reserch 'blends' to much. How to decide on focused landing pages?
This is a pretty general answer, but just try to think of what would be the most helpful to your customers, in the absence of the search engines. Does "leather book binding" need it's own page to best communicate to your customers? Is that the most natural term, the one you'd use if you were talking about book binding with leather? Then go for it.
If "book binding service" is different enough from "print and binding" to warrant different content, then go ahead and give them each their own page. If not, then don't worry about it. The search engines are advanced enough to pick up on intent and synonyms to a reasonable degree.
I recommend it all the time—like, I think I recommended it to someone less than 5 minutes ago—but I love Cyrus Shepard's "Keywords to Concepts" for how well it explains the concept of topical keyword research. If you haven't read it, it may clear some things up for you.

RE: SEO optimization for popular long-tail content
I would add that you may find Cyrus Shepard's Keywords to Concepts a useful read. You may find you don't need to optimize for every long tail term you want to catch.

RE: Where/when can we find the Mozcon 2015 videos?
Hi Mike!
MozCon 2015 videos aren't available quite yet. There's a lot of post-production work that goes into them that we need to get just right.

They _are _coming very soon, though! We're getting into the last stages. I promise, you'll know when they're ready. We'll most definitely be promoting them.

RE: 301 redirects- how long to keep and how many are too many?
Just wanted to chime in that I've also never heard of too many 301s being a thing.

EDIT: ...unless you mean you have too many redirects in a row, but that's not what it sounds like. Is that what you mean, Laura?

RE: Why this site is not hit by google penguin only experts answer please
My friend, there likely is no answer to this issue, and the responses you've received pretty well cover the possibilities. They've come from folks known to be experts, as well. To get more specific would require testing against the site in question, and for that you'll need to hire a consultant.
Please be courteous and respect the community members who have generously given of their time and knowledge to answer your question.
