How do you avoid duplicate content when you sell products that are produced by other manufacturers?
Copy and pasted what, exactly? If it's specifications, that's perfectly fine. If you are really worried about it (I would not be, I have clients that post specifications like this), you could always include the specifications in a PDF and offer a link to that. That's less helpful to visitors though, and they are really who you should be targeting first. If it's a product description, then yes, that's definitely no good. Write your own description. Include a staff review. This paired with the ability for users to review/comment on the product will give you enough unique content to shine. Look at big e-retailers if you want to see how others are doing content. Cabelas has a Q & A section, for example. Show widgets like Amazon does ('Customers Who Bought This Also Bought..) and provide short descriptions for each product tile. Include video content if you can, or relevant how-tos. MidwayUSA does a good job of having supporting content. Use microtags for everything you possibly can. That should be enough work to last you a year! Cheers.

302 Redirects & WordPress
Hi Corey- Thanks for the response. No, there wasn't any malicious code found on the site. Yes, I agree about the trackbacks not a high priority. I just don't like seeing those errors. Best, Lisa

Google Places email question
Hello Llsa, Thank you for coming to Q&A with your question. I'm the Local SEO Associate here in the forum, and will do my best to give you helpful answers. 1. Email addresses Yes, it is ideal to claim/create a client's Google Place Page with a domain-based email address, but if this just isn't possible, you'll have to settle for doing it with a gmail address or other address. As WrightIMC has stated, you should not experience any actual penalty for this, but I believe that it's best to do it with the domain-base address whenever possible because of its ability to send a stronger trust signal to Google that you are the owner (or that the client is the owner). 2. Radius It's vital to understand that Google will always view the actual physical address of the business as its key signal of relevance. Yes, for go-to-client business models (like carpet cleaners, landscapers, etc.) this isn't ideal because they may serve in a wide area. But, if the carpet cleaner is in San Francisco, Google views him as most relevant to San Francisco. His competitor in Oakland will be viewed as most relevant to Oakland. When I work with clients like this, I develop a strategy with them for getting high organic rankings for their service area, while the main local results must surround their actual city of location. That's just the way Local works. Exceptions to this: if you have a client in either a rural area where there are few businesses, or you have a client with an unusual business model creating a situation of low competition, the client may well show up in results outside of his city of location because he is one of the only providers of what he does. This does happen...but not in metropolitan locations, busy suburbs or industries with heavy competition. 3. Tips Study exactly what the competition is doing. Duplicate their strategy. And then go one better! Hope this helps! Miriam

SEO Plugins for WordPress
I currently use All in One SEO and haven't had problems. Now I'm seeing reviews for the Yoast plugin over All in One SEO. I downloaded the Yoast Wordpress SEO but it seems to have far less features and settings unless Yoasts plugin is doing everything on auto-pilot I think fixing what isn't broke for me isn't an option unless someone can compare the two side by side and demonstrate why I should switch and how I could benefit. In regard to updates, I get fairly frequent version updates from All In One SEO. Here is a link that may help you - User's Guide for All In One SEO Pack

Thanks, Malachi! I think the issue came about when we moved the site to the cloud. It looks like the old site was inadvertently moved too. Best, Lisa

Panda Update - Challenge!
Mmm... yeah hard to guess without looking at the site then, on my own experience / research, these are some of the issues I found in many of the sites affected by Panda: •Intrusive advertising, excessive use of Adsense, sites created only for Adsense or to solely promote a product•High amounts of duplicate content / scraped content•Bad user interface / “ugly” design•Usage data - low click-through-rate, low time-on-site, 100% bounce rate•Content analysis - not usable/readable/easily-consumable content•Excessive internal linking to one or two pages only And I don't mean your site to be spammy, but some cases, like news sites with advertising, sometimes they get articles out with just a couple paragraphs of content, so that single page becomes more advertising than content. Consider posting your site, it would be nice to take a look and there is also the last reason: your site is innocent and just got hit by mistake, it happens.
