Do random listings effect Google Local Rankings?
Hi Jonathan, While this should not be affecting you locally, yes, there is some chance that this could be affecting organic results if these searches for this person are popular. So, on a local front, no don't worry about this. On an organic front, this is one of those weird things where there are similarities or even synonyms from which Google is drawing incorrect intent.

Domain Authority Just Wont Budge
Although EGLO is right! The DA and PA has nothing to do with your website rankings and I literally seen examples where a website with more DA and PA are ranking lower than the one with less DA and PA. But if you want theory why your DA is stuck to one place or has gone down so the easiest answer to this will be because of the Moz.com’s index update. Hope this helps!

Can someone help with Canonical?
Thanks for the heads up. Didn't realize that would make much of a difference but I corrected the problem. Also, without me doing anything, the Canonical Error is fixed...

Checking in on Local
Hi Jonathan, The best way to start looking for duplicates is to go to Google Maps and type in current phone numbers and any past phone numbers to see if more than one listing surfaces for them. It sounds like you are making major right steps in many areas. Bringing us back to the concept that these things take time. Once all potential negatives can be resolved, then there is only going forward with positives including content development, review acquisition, social outreach, link earning, etc. Your original thread from October dates the start of your cleanup to about 2 months ago. While everything is dependent on the competitiveness of a business' local market, you should begin to see positive outcomes at some point, but when that will be can't really be estimated. So basically, your path to success will look like this: Resolve negatives Build on-going postives See results once Google catches onto the fact that there are no negatives and that a positive effort is being made on an on-going basis that is superior to the efforts of local competitors. Pretty much all Local SEO campaigns follow this general pattern and, from your description of your efforts, it sounds like you are on the right track and just need to give things time. *I will make one proviso to this. Let's say 6 months go by and you are still not seeing the client become a chief player in the results for their local market. If this was happening to me, I'd try to find someone more expert than myself to audit the site in case I've overlooked something I'm not trained to spot. Hope this helps, and good luck!

Can someone help me understand Structured Data?
schema is a method that all 3 takes search engines Google Yahoo and Bing use to better understand the content in your site. & make your data "machine readable" to search engines. HTML 5 incorporates schema into the code natively so it is something that Google and every other search engine is using as part of their algorithm so is important that it is implemented correctly. There are different types of schema For instance I can use schema to easily tell a search engine that I am a local business and where they can find me this would result in the site that had the correct local schema on it coming up in universal search results for whatever keywords my site was relevant to. I could use a tool like this Below its website is great as well with a lot of information on schema that's easy to understand. http://www.feedthebot.com/tools/address/ An excellent place to get information about schema and a company that builds the fantastic WordPress plug-in http://schema-creator.org/ another excellent places the Google FAQ page https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/1211158 want to use rel=author download Yoast WordPress SEO plug-in then followed the instructions given here you can use these instructions to do this on other similar plug-ins as well. http://yoast.com/push-rel-author-head/ & read http://yoast.com/wordpress-rel-author-rel-me/ If you're authorship is set up correctly and the Google Structured Data test shows it working correctly it should work. However one quick thing you should check is to make sure there is a checkmark next to your home pages URL on your Google + page there could be a number of reasons why a just not showing up I would check the instructions above and make sure that everything is done correctly. I hope this is not of hope to you sincerely, Thomas FgFb6Y-UJUI

Google Local landing pages
Hi Jonathan, In regards to the business title on the +Local page, nothing has changed. Think of it this way: McDonald's is just McDonald's over their infinite number of locations. You should do the same. This is not the same as your custom URL, to which Google will append the city name in some cases. So, leave the titles the same.

Is there an option that's more precise over Open Site Explorer?
Hey Jonathan, Thanks for the question. You'll want to keep in mind that OSE doesn't know what your official Facebook or Google+ pages are. So when OSE reports those numbers it's URL specific. For example: Moz has 135,040 likes on our Facebook page, but in OSE it only sees 2,162 because that's how many people liked the url moz.com as opposed to our FB page. I hope that makes sense. You can try adding your social networks to a campaign to get more in depth social metrics. Cheers, Joel.

What is the absolute strongest way to increase domain authority?
Your DA fluctuates over time and you may have gotten hit by Google's "Hummingbird" search engine update. For links, I'd recommend 1. Posting on forums with your website in the signature line and legitimately respond to questions with good answers, as opposed to spam responses 2. Post new website content to social media with links 3. Take a look at where your competitors are getting links and trying getting a link from the same source 4. Write content for other websites via being a guest host and put a link to your website on the article

What is the best way to target two keywords with one website?
AWC I was following up with Jonathan on another question and I realized I had told you something that was incorrect. I am going to PM you something to look at (I know you will protect my client) that shows how we use PHP in the footer to change the address to the one for the sub directory. I will try to get to you today. Best

Domain Authority vs. Page Authority?
One cost effective benefit of using the root domain (no W's) is in setting up a MOZ campaign. If you set it up as a sub domain - www.sales.com - MOZ will track that version only. If you happen to have sub domains connected to that site - the performance of those keywords will not be tracked. Setting up your campaign with the root domain, sales.com -- auto.sales.com, homes.sales.com, insurance.sales.com, ad nauseam, will be all tracked within a single campaign slot.

Why are my Local Results so terrible. Seriously any help!
Id like to open this discussion back up. About a month ago, I made some changes to the Google+ profile and the client has agreed to change the address away from the PakMail in hopes of better results. The Google Plus Local and Google Places accounts have merged yet still when searching Maps for austin wedding photographer she is on page 9. https://maps.google.com/maps?q=austin+wedding+photographer&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&channel=np&ie=UTF-8&ei=u0cuUtzePJKO2gW494DwBA&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAg Anyone see anything else really wrong with the profile? https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/114370561649922317296/114370561649922317296/posts

Why is this interior page outranking my front page?
I completely agree with you Dana. You said yourself the pages hold keyword heave images in a slider. This could also be one of the problems. If your URL in combination with page title, and page content is too heavy one keywords you could notice negative effects. In this case enormous drops in rankings. Like Dana suggested, go step by step and isolate the exact problem. Otherwise everything you do can make things even worse in stead of better. And like Dana suggested, I've had a website that was rankings no. 3 for a very competitive keyword, from one day to another, dropped over 50 positions, in the next couple of days rankings restored. Did I panick, Yes. Did I analyse if there was a problem, Yes, Did I change anything major to the site? NO. Keep it simple and work in logical steps and you should be fine.

Why did my site drop 6 pages over night?
Well I wish Google would get on it and hurry up and merge them because the listing is hard to find on Google Maps and never comes up in the front page map.

O.S.E. vs Webmaster Tools
Hi there, Top place "/" will be your homepage. "Not mentioned" or "not provided" or "not set" are increasingly prevalent and based on users being logged in to a Google account when searching.
