I was checking external links to a site:  scte-brasilien.de/  and was wondering why there are so many links pointing from another domain (reisen-nach-brasilien.com/) although it redirects to scte-brasilien.de/?

So when checking the redirecting domain OSE knows its redirecting...

Many people say PR does not matter, but for me its an indicator that links from a domain with higher PR may rank better.

My client has a about 4 different travel-sites of very different kinds of travelling. His sites are not ranking bad but all sites have just a PR 0-2 although the content is unique. I made the experience that even sites with few content will have at least a PR of 3 after some years with no SEO effort.

One reason is may some part of duplicate content (4 Tours begin in Manaus, so the description for Manaus is on all the 4 Tour pages the same) but another is that the pages have few external links but many of other sites he is owning... like: also check out this -> link to another own site.

Question: If I take all these links away (they even don't cause many referrals at all)  - will this have a positive effect on rankings? Means trying to have always more external links from not self owned sites is a good start?

... of course it wasn't too difficult to solve this problem. In Foundation I could assign the right classes... so there is no need to work with visibility classes in this case.. and produce dublicated div's.

As I understood its fine if I put the following link to link on my homepage-index:

http://inlinear.com/     <--- without anything...

As well when I link to the products page:

http://inlinear.com/products/ <--- again without anything (index.php)

But in case of a specific page for example in the products-folder:

http://inlinear.com/products/my-product-1.php     <--- how can I live without extension?

I googled and found this .htaccess code. Seems it takes away .php and ads a "/"... is this the best practice?:

301 Redirects Do Not Pass Full PageRank & Link Value. Thats what I know. Also http://seomoz.org/ was redirected to http://moz.com and just has a PR of 2.

My questions are:

A) When linking from a page to my frontpage (home) the best practice is?: "http://domain.com/" the best _and NOT: "http://domain.com/index.php_"

B) When linking to the index of a subfolder "http://domain.com/products/index.php" I should link also to: "http://domain.com/products/" and not put also the index.php..., right?

C) When I define the canonical ULR, should I also define it just: "http://domain.com/products/" or in this case I should link to the definite file: "http://domain.com/products**/index.php**"

Is A) B) the best practice? and C) ?

Checking Keyword-density is just to primitive... what is your recommendation for the subject WDFPIDF?
The SEO-Tool onpage.org (german) offers an interesting tool to analyse your text. But there are differences between languages and factors like proximities, synonyms etc. What are your experiences?

Right now I'm experimenting with the foundation framework where the visibility class solved my problem quickly but from a SEO-point of view I got a new problem. So I must study more on this...

I have text in the right column of my responsive layout which will show up below the the principal content on small devices.

To do this I use visibility classes for DIVs. So I have a DIV with with a unique style text that is visible only on large screen sizes. I copied the same text into another div which shows only up only on small devices while the other div will be hidden in this moment. Technically I have the same text twice on my page. So this might be duplicate content detected as SPAM?

I'm concerned because hidden text on page via expand-collapsable textblocks will be read by bots and in my case they will detect it twice?Does anybody have experiences on this issue?bestHolger

I want to track a "rootdomain" that has two languages on it, the english version is in a subfolder /en/

1. http://website.de
2. http://website.de/en/

I want to manage and track each language-version isolated. So I will setup:
1. http://website.de as campaign DE - german
= as Root Domain
But as there are links to the /en/ Subfolder these data will also be included in all reports. And there is still no option in SEOmoz PRO to exclude folders or even urls.?! This will be bad when wanting a clear report of just one Language Version.

2. http://website.de/en as campaing EN - english
To track as "Subfolder" will not work beacause this option will only consider exactly this subfolder...

So is there a way to see data just only for one language Version?

I think you can test this issue best with a "Text-Only-Browser" to see how search engines see your page.

now I realized that my client is offering 4 tours in the amazon. He is just mixing the attractions and length of the items to create different tours. So there is a lot of duplicate content which may result in his bad pagerank (although his pages are ranking). On the one hand its good to see different combinations of itineraries but I think the concept of such a site should be different.

Each attraction with unique content should have its own page to be able to focus on different keywords. Then he should propose possible combinations of these attractions without repeating always the same content.

This will be the only way to make the site better... right?

my client has a travel website where he is offering 4 different tours in the amazon. The itinerary is basically different for each tour. BUT all the tours start in Manaus, so there are 20-30 lines of text talking about Manaus and what they will visit there...

Its just a small part of the pages with the same content about Manaus... so  a redirect does not work as well as a canonical tag does not work here.

the google AdWords Keyword Tool shows e.g.:

monthly global search for: "Satéré-Mawê Tribe" = 0
but for "Satere-Mawe Tribe" = 320 (at least)

But doing a search with or without using special characters,seems not to make a difference? as Google shows "the right" results even when people are making mistakes in spelling.

On an english website I wantto use in the Title "Hunting, fishing and living with the Satéré-Mawê Tribe" using the correct Portuguese spelling.

As Google Keyword tool tells me english speaking persons don't like using special characters... should I also leave them out in general or just don't mind?

I have read about people saying that using the rel next and prev tags did not take any positive effect on their sites...

In my case I do not have a typical pagination 1,2,3 but a site about tours in the amazon where each tour-description is divided into a page with

1. an overview,
2. itinerary,
3. Dates & Prices

so instead of Site 1,2,3 Buttons I have the Btns: Tour Overview, Itinerary, Prices

So as all the of pages belong together I thought the rel=next & prev tags will be useful.
Also I want to avoid duplicate content when the page title of the three is pretty similar. Right now the Title is like this:
Amazon Tour XXX YYYY
Amazon Tour XXX - itinerary
Amazon Tour XXX - prices

The description text is more different...

Is this the best practice in my case?

I am working on travel-pages and there are 4 tours that all start their itinerary in "Manaus", so I have 4 pages containing all a passage of the same text about Manaus.

How will Google interpret this? Just pick one of the four pages in relation to Manaus Keywords and index, or index none of them?

What should I do, because there is no canonical tag for parts of pages?
