The Disavow file is basically telling Google to turn the links into no follows or in other words you don't want to be associated with the sites. Removing the file could do one of two things give you a penalty if you were proactively removing bad sites it may give you a boost in search if you had some random urls in there. You want to ask your self why you put the links in there in the first place.
I assume its to stop it getting spammed like most neat things

author rank is still a thing though so still worth using your G+

its a tag that sits on your webpage i'm sure you can get a plugin for Wordpress to do it, Yoast might do it. worst case web dev guy can do it pretty easy.

I think they are fine, the reason why is as follows:
They are in the same related niche (I'm going off your examples) and they have been there for a while and if they've not hurt him yet and there are not thousands of them you may just cause more harm removing them and then have to explain why he has dropped in rankings.
What you could look into if it bothers you is remove them but attempt to replace the link value so there is no drop. However as i said earlier they are in the same niche and seems to be okay, you can always work on other links/areas so it diluted the above links in their profile
It's great to be proactive but don't be too scared of the Google and as long as the following is true you will be fine:
Make your site (and links) for the user
A user may go to - http://www.becomeabetterhunter.com and then want to buy some hunting equipment and so the link is in fact normal and fine.

Hiya,I wouldn't look at it as a link juice argument as its really aimed at telling the search engine which concepts the original (which can be helpful if e.g you have multiple products etc.). What it can do is help build you up as an authority. Regards to auther credit it depends if they used the rel="author" tag (telling Google who the auther is).
Look at it another way you would use the tags for duplicate content, do you think a search engine would highly rank duplicate content? It would link one copy of the relevant result and you can use the tag to tell it "this is the original content" (i.e the most relevant).

I agree with most of your points but I would disagree with HTTP as a good example its very difficult to find much proof that HTTP really does give a boost, its so tiny you can't even measure it nearly. Bing does do somethings better than Google but really its neither here nor there.
If someone ever asked me to rank them in Bing I'm sure I would be far more lost than I should be but there are a few examples I found after a scoot about

It's risky only you know whats in the disavow file you can always go through it and see if there are any links in there that maybe don't need to be in there just may want to be careful not to seem like you're trying to manipulate Google but overall it's a bit like changing lots of no follow links to follow.
If you want to try it you can try it on the safe site and analyze whats in there and over time see how taking a few links out at a time see if you get an impact its a bit more controlled as well as if something goes wrong you can see what links caused it.
Google has said its good to be proactive and remove bad links before they are a problem and its perfectly normal however I've seen people overreact a bit to this advice and remove links that where natural etc. so whats best for return on your time removing disavow or working on getting more links.

Not sure what you need but if you need to delete a website from your webmaster tools you select the tick box and then go to delete(top) simple as.

Agree, it doesn't matter.
My only point is it is worth keeping a nice case sensitive meta if possible through the whole site NO ONE LIKES TO READ ALL IN CAPS! However that's not relevant to your question.

I did write a lovely answer which unfortunately got lost so I'll summaries a bit below-
1. I wouldn't recommend telling Google as you might not have a penalty now but you might be temping Googles wrath
2. As you've not been marked as malware and you've removed it you should be fine but you can always try if you want to sleep better
3.Disavow proactively is a great idea Google like this approach too, It also means rather than hoping Google might ignore the links its will defiantly ignore them with the disavow list.. Further to this I've got two more options for you. you can block wildcard/dynamic pages in your Robots which will help stop Google even getting to them to find out you've got some bad links assuming you don't need the pages for your site. If you check your referring domains weekly and update the disavow list as well if you're still "under attack".
Just a quick heads up after disavowing the link you may drop down in rankings as you're removing the links however there is also a chance you can go up if you're under a algo penalty.

If we look at what SEO is - its about optimizing your site for search engines and unfortunately search engines still use links as a large factor in determining whats worth ranking but whilst they may be the bigger factor its not the only one. Many people would argue that if you make a site for users. Make it so great that they want to share it and that its the best it can be. Creating thousands of links won't work any more (and if it does its only temporary) so be careful on your SEO strategy. If you're unsure you can always ask to see previous work and you can shop around but your right there is more to SEO than just links. .

Google likes to see you try, its a good idea to attempt contact with the website asking them to remove the links, if you don't try don't expect Google to try either, I recommend send an email to them (try postmaster or webmaster @ )
No response then you can use the disavow tool then when you request your site to be reconsidered you have proof that you've tried.

I would agree with Dean just to explain that the reason www.domain.es/en is better than en.domain.es is because the /en keeps the authority in your site rather than separating to a sub domain which sort of helps you a bit.

If you don't have a message from Google you probably don't have a penalty, Hummingbiurd was more of an optimization update than a spam reducing update so I highly doubt it was what caused your site to drop in rankings it no doubt other factors.
I may have misread but if you brought links from fiverr that's no doubt where your trouble is, buying links is never a good way and always leads to this end result.
Same as most other problems, look at your links and remove the spammy / bad links and work on building good content, with good links and stay away from "Buy 1,000 link" strategy.
The golden rule : Quality over quantity.

When last month? Could it have been the Penguin/panda update? You can check by comparing your visits/serp with release dates of updates. You can see (some of) them here - http://moz.com/google-algorithm-change and here http://algoroo.com/
Not to mention if you've set up preferred domain or canonical this doesn't even matter. The only thing you may consider is it easier to advertise (branding) with out www.
