When do you use article markup for AMP pages?
Hi Anouk, I don't see any reason why you couldn't use the generic Article (rather than NewsArticle) markup on your informational pages, if that is how you want Google to view the content (as an informational 'article'). I'd be cautious with it if you want the content type to be seen as something else by Google, and/or if it is very long-form, heavily resourced content. You may want to test it on some of your info pages and compare what happens to the pages with the markup vs the AMP versions that don't include the markup. Hope that helps.

Is there a way for me to automatically download a website's sitemap.xml every month?
If you use a MySQL database to store your website data, I think that to do this kind of automatic "archival" work by creating an automatic PHP script would take between 2 to 5 hours work. I don't see why it should take more than that. If someone tells you that it is going to take more than that, I would be suspicious. Either the programmer is not good enough, or wants to cheat on you. That unfortunately happens more than you think!! Be sure to ask for a step-by-step description of how they plan to complete the job. If you have doubts, please feel free to ask me, I am a pretty expert PHP programmer. I don't work for others, but just for myself (I built and keep tweaking my own websites virtualsheetmusic.com, musicianspage.com and others with very little help from external programmers). Good luck!

What if I point my canonicals to a URL version that is not used in internal links
Thanks again. I hope Google will come out with some real guidelines on this subject. It saves us time arguing with third parties. For now I will get the canonicals fixed.

Universal Local Results & Venice Update - What's what?
Hi Harald, I agree with you...the terminology has become confusing. And glad to see that you are a Mike Blumenthal fan. As Mike states in his post to which you've linked, local results are essentially all blended. There used to be very significant differences between different types of results (7 packs vs. blended) for example, but in my opinion, what we are seeing now is that Google is moving it all into more or less one big lump. The actual Maps results remain somewhat different, but I think it's fairly safe to say (for the moment, anyway) that anything you see in the SERPs could be termed 'Local Universal Results'. It's not a very good name, granted, and I can understand the confusion on this. Hope this explanation helps. Miriam

What's your favourite blog on Paid Search?
It's not the prettiest blog, but I've always found Matthew Umbro's PPC advice to be solid. Other PPC-related blogs that I like: http://www.gordonchoi.com/ http://www.semgeek.com/ Also, don't forget about the PPC categories at SEOmoz and YOUmoz.

SEOmoz Crawl CSV in Excel: already split by semicolon. Is this Excel's fault or SEOmoz's?
Thanks a lot for this question and answer. I've been cursing for months and months on this issue. The solution suggested by Barry is TOP! Download Open Office, even if it's just to convert CSV correctly to columns.

Link juice distributed to too many pages. Will noindex, follow fix this?
Has the number of pages indexed changed? Specifically, do you have a sitemap and have you looked at what GWT is reporting for number of pages indexed? Maybe some of your pages dropped out of the index and that's why you're not getting as much traffic? Also, do a quick look at your pages and make sure something silly didn't happen when the products were added, like a rel canonical setting everything to the home page, or 5000 items suddenly getting a noindex, or your analytics program suddenly being stripped from some of your pages and that's why you're missing visits.

Effective keyword grouping - any suggestions?
Your product category pages should only focus on 1 or 2 keywords. If you come out with a lot of keywords on one page, it may look like you are keyword stuffing. The only way to tell which are going to be your best keywords is by hooking up Google Analytics and setting up conversion goals. This will tell you he value of the keyword. If you are using Google adwords, it'll tell you if a particular keyword is making or losing you money. I always break things down into categories. Mens shirt, Womens shirt, Baby Shirt, Dog shirt. You won't run into so much duplication like you would with the two categories you are talking about (baby & shirt). Use the Control F in Excel to find and replace duplicate keywords.

Run a batch of keywords 1 by 1 through Adwords Keyword tool
I was looking through some old questions of ours and saw that this one is still open. However, seogadget has obviously solved this problem when they introduced their Google Adwords Excel Plug-in!

How to get a quick idea of competition for large numbers of keywords
I found Market Samurai to be fairly useful for getting competition data on a few thousands of keywords. However, it is not as in-depth as SEOmoz KW difficulty tool.

How to optimize achor text links on ecommerce category page
This pretty much mirrors what I was going to say.... "I can't find an example of how it would be coded (check link above!), but you could look at having a single ahref stemming from the product text, and expand the clickable area to include the image. This would get around your issue, and I've always thought that having multiple links to a single product like that is sub-optimal. I'm not sure how much added SEO benefit this would have, but all the small things..."
