Brad out of interest what do you think about using expandable divs so that users can see more content on the cat page if interest ? Not sure if this would be seen as black hat or not.

RE: Optimizing E-Commerce Category Pages For SEO
Thanks for the link and the advice Brad. Don't take this the wrong way as I like what you have done with the site. The content on the bottom of the page is well optimised but has been written for the benefit of google and not users. if you have guide for selecting the right baby food maker Would you be putting that at the bottom of the page? Or maybe that should be somewhere else on the site? Just trying to the best solution.

Thanks Brian . Any chance you can post a link to an example site? It is a balancing act between what works and what looks good.

RE: Optimizing E-Commerce Category Pages For SEO
Thanks ranksurge. Footer was the wrong word. I mean like comet have content at the bottom of each page just above the footer. http://www.comet.co.uk/c/Fridges-Freezers/Fridge-Freezers/1735 They don't really have that much content. How much content did you have on each page? We are looking at 500 words.

Optimizing E-Commerce Category Pages For SEO
Hey,
Does anyone have any tips for optimizing e-commerce category pages? Looking to add content to each category page but not sure where to put the content i.e. above the footer? Above the search results? In the left hand nav bar? Have a landing page which they click through to see search results?
If anyone has any good examples or tips it would be much appreciated.
cheers
David

RE: Edu links service
Easier and Faster , yes but more profitable, no. If people don't link to your content then your content isn't that good. People will link and share good content. Long term better content is a more profitable strategy.

RE: Edu links service
I just don't understand why people want to purchase backlinks. Personally I believe time and effort should be put into making great content which people actually want to link to.

Best way to setup large site for multi language
Hello, I am setting up a new site which is going to be very large, over 250,000 products. Most of our customers are in the UK (45%), the rest are from various European countries and the USA. Unfortunately we only have a team of two people writing content for these pages in English. I would value some input on the best way to setup my website structure for ranking. Obviously the best would be individual country oriented domains I.e. domain.fr domain.de domain.co.uk . However we wouldnt have the time to create content for every page and most pages would contain the same content as the English domain. Would I get a penalty for this from google? The second choice is to follow the example of overstock.com and pull in information relating to each country I.e. currency and delivery time. this would be a lot easier but I am concerned that the lack of geo focus would effect my rankings. Does any one have any ideas?

Best Layout for Product Page SEO
Hi
I am looking to revamp my website and would like to know your views on the best product layout for SEO - in particular if it better to have tabulated content like play.com
or non tabulated content like Amazon.
Are there any pros or cons to each approach? I believe tabulated looks better and is easier to navigate but do the engines see this as hidden text? I have been told this is an issue with expandable divs.
Many thanks

RE: HubPages.com?
Not sure if back links from sites like hub pages carry the same weight anymore. IMO Google has gotten wise to article spamming to generate back links. Personally I would concentrate on producing great content and articles on your own site. Give people a reason to link to the site

RE: How can I keyword optimize for slight spelling variants, while maintaining consistency?
Hi Ryan
Not sure if this is the correct answer but we have had some success optimizing for spelling mistakes and american/English/Scottish spellings. I would pick the word which is searched the most as your main keyword and then use the variant as your second word on the same page.
i.e.
Keyword 1: Theatre (use 3 to 4 times on page)
Keyword 2: Theater (use 2 - 3 times on the page)
Title: Blackburn Theatre | Top Theater Shows in Blackburn
Description: Voted best Theater shows in Blackburn. See gandhi on ice at Blackburn Theatre.
url: YOURURL/Blackburn-Theatre
Make sure you get both variants in the H1 or H2 tags
Hope that helps

thanks for the response. not sure about the smileycat link. They all look good but none of the category pages have text on them for optimization.

Good category pages - do you have examples?
Hello all.
Currently doing a major update to my e-commerce website which sells tractor spare parts.
I would like to optimize the category pages, which feature the parts from a particular manufacture of tractor parts. Does anyone have good examples of well optimized product page which do not have a detrimental effect on the visual quality of the site? It is important to see the products.
The best I have found is:
http://www.simplyelectricals.co.uk/
but I sure a better solution must exist
Thanks

Delio ag ieithoedd eraill !! Other Languages?
Hi,
Need some advice follow Mozzers (not sure if that is the correct term).
Most of my adwords are SKU numbers - in fact I have over 40,000. These all point to the correct product page which works well for English customers. We do a lot of trade internationally so language is important, unfortunately I do not have the resources to have each product page in a number of different languages (other than google translate plugin which isn't that good). So what would be the best alternative.
1. Adwords in the customer language which direct to English pages - with the option to use google translate. Higher click through but less conversion.
2. Build landing pages in the customer language for a range of parts i.e. tractor parts from John Deer. The customer can then send an email for a quote or go to the english page
3. Send a 'Learn English in 30 days" book with every order.
Thanks for the help
