Click fraud
If you are using any paid search services other than Google or Bing, I would strongly look into click fraud detection. The easiest way to do this is on your own end... First, you want to make sure that it is a real user, not a bot. You can check the following... 1. Does the user carry a referrer? 2. Does the user accept cookies? 3. Does the user allow javascript? 4. Does the user allow flash? The above are some simple tests - neither of them individually conclusive - that can test if it is a bot. Secondly, you want to make sure it is not the same user over and over again, by tracking IP addresses. Third, you should make sure that your clicks aren't being generated in small iframes or popunders - the easiest way to do this is with javascript and capturing the window size and/or whether self.window = top.window. Fourth, you should track what users are doing once they reach your site. If your conversion rate is less than 1/10th of Google AdWords or Bing, you should be concerned. You can always use a third party software like AdWatcher, which is pretty good. It can get buggy in large volumes though. Good Luck.

Any Twitter marketing resources?
Make sure you're organized! Following hundreds means nothing when you don’t take the time to actually use the tweets for anything. The key to using Twitter, and avoiding drowning in the constant feed is to group those you follow into lists. Without organizing the hundreds of accounts I followed, I couldn't make use of the endless content. Organizing the accounts I follow allows me to easily see tweets from a specific group say, local news, or competitors, or local partners etc., without having to scan my entire feed. Taking the initial time to organize the accounts you follow saves you loads of time overall!

Why does this site rank on the 1st page
Trust is a reasonable factor. Consider this - Google uses trust when they determine how accurate a company's Place page is. They go out and look to see whether the phone, address, other info are listed on other, known, trusted sites. So yes, EGOL's got a good point as well.

Do "Sponsored Posts" links get discounted by google?
There's a lot of shades of gray to this question. The more spam-like versions most likely would be discounted, while guest posts on strong websites would still drive link value. For example, if I wrote an article or story that was picked up by the mainstream news and placed on a site like ESPN, USA Today, NYT, etc. the link in the story would be valuable. If the site that picked up my article or story was a paid repository of low quality content then the link would likely count for much less or could possibly be considered spam if the website was considered a bad neighborhood in regards to linking.

What has been the best Link Bait you have seen for Low budgets?
Our site www.project365.co.uk was submitted to CSS Mania and got awarded best site of the week for handrawn sites, we went from 100 hits a month to 3500 per month becuase all the other css bloggers featured our site as a result of this. Since then we probably still get over 3500 hits a month from this and I reckon maybe 2 or 3 leads per month as a result. the fact that many of the leads are from asia and we tend not to convert them into business is beside the point. ( we have converted a few) It took me less than 5 mins to suggest our link and cost not a single penny.

Any Tips For putting up a new site and not loosing rankings?
We had the same issue moving our site from nopcommerce to magento. The structure of the site in regards to category and even file extension (.aspx to .html) changed. We had over 2000 products and to create redirects for all of them was quite a bear. What we ended up doing was to look into Google's rankings of our top 500 pages and focus on getting those redirected initially. Checking both the supplemental and primary indexes helped us to figure out which ones to do. I also ended up using excel and its formulas to create the redirect links enmass and then copied them to my .htaccess file. Also too, if you had a specific directory where your ecommerce site use to be located ( we had /Store/) create that directory and place your .htaccess in that file with Symlinks turned On. This seemed to take care of everything for us and helped us to focus on links that were actually indexed.
