Hi,
We are searching for a new SEO provider for www.compoundsecurity.co.uk and I notice that some SEO providers are now billing against results rather than days spent doing the work.
Considering the high prices and lack of work done for those fees by current provider, this is of interest to me.
Does anyone have experience of working this way and or have any advice please?
Thank you
Chers Paul,
Their MD /president is adamant that it is fair. Worked out at £240 or $360
What happened to a fair price for hard work in the online world.... Or anywhere else for that matter.
I appreciate your time Paul.
Regards
Si
Thank you Chris.
As i thought. I just did it myself and it took 2 mins.
Cheers
Hi All,
I have just had a bill from our webmaster / SEO provider for 3 hours work to embed two youtube video clips on to one page of our site (http://www.compoundsecurity.co.uk/raidervision-visual-verification-module-use-rdas-and-vx-gprs-wireless-security-systems)
Now i am not an HTML programmer, but i have the ability to insert HTML code in to our eBay pages to embed videos where i want them on a page and it takes less than a minute.
Would love to get feedback from several people on how long this should have taken. Is it really anywhere near 3 hours work. Everything else on the page was already there.
If it means anything, the site is done in Apach
Cheers
Thank you Wissam,
I will give it a try today.
Regards,
Si
Oh and i added a couple of extra internal links
Hi Wissam,
I changed the title, H1 tag, description and the entire copy of the page.
Hi all,
I hope there is a search guru out there who can assist with this.
I decided 3 months ago that our SEO contractors weren't doing as well as they should be and after long discussion, i reoptimised all pages myself. Most are performing better now but sales and enquiries went through the floor.
I have today found ranking information from the week before i made the changes, something i thought i had lost. Now i have this, i have found that one of the two main pages has gone from position 1 to position 38. This explains the problem.
I know all things are not equal and in the intervening months, competitors have updated their sites and links, however, this is the security sector and things don't change much, so, all things being equal, would reinstating the old version of the page be likely to reinstate my previous ranking position or thereabouts? or will the MIGHTY GOOGLE punish me in some way for swapping back to a previous page version?
We use a CMS system and all revisions are stored.
The page in question is www.compoundsecurity.co.uk/security-equipment and the keyword in question is 'wireless alarms'.
Any help will be greatly appreciated by this non SEO plebe.
Cheers
Si
P.S. feel free to berate me for not recording all pertinent info about rankings BEFORE i star playing around with the site. It was my first time and i have well and truly learn my lesson.
Hi Joel,
Thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately i am still none the wiser. I still don't understand why grader is telling me that the page http://www.compoundsecurity.co.uk/security-equipment/construction-site-security-alarm-systems is badly optimised (page rated as F) when it is actually optimised for 'construction site alarm systems. http://www.compoundsecurity.co.uk/security-equipment/gsm-gprs-wireless-battery-powered-building-site-security-systems is optimised for 'building site alarms'. I can see no reason why.
I am only a beginner at this, so any further advice you can give using words of two syllables or less would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Hi Cody,
Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question. I am not sure it really answers my question. Maybe it does, but i don't understand.I will do some more reasearch.
All the best

Hi there,
Getting to know the Pro tools and can't find an answer to this. Can someone explain for me please?
Using on page grader, I found a couple pages with an F. I scrolled downWTO where it shows the keyword phrases and under each, the URL.
Clicking on the first keyword "Building site alarms"it tells me off essentially for not optimising the page for that term. The URL is "construction site security systems" which are different to building site alarms which also have their own page. I don't understand why is Moz associating this keyword with this page? I certainly haven't told it to.
Please he
Thank you Yiannis, That's something else i need to learn how to do
Dear Yiannis and Chris,
Thank you both for your answers. Is the keyword in the first part of the URL really that important? By first part i mean the actual root domain www.wrieless-alarms.net.
Seems a bit unfair of Google, as it gives a very small number of competitors an advantage that nobody else could optimise for*. In terms of the keywords after the / in the URL, do you think it would be worth me changing my landing page for wireless alarms from www.compoundsecurity.co.uk/security-equipment to www.compoundsecurity.co.uk/wireless-alarms-and-security-systems?
HI Doug,
I'm about 50 miles away from you. Thank you for your answer. This leads me to ask, if wireless-alarms.com has such better stats (thank you for picking that up) then why is their .net domain the one with the great position?
I am not in the SEO sector, just a businessman on a steep learning curve.
Many thanks
Si
Hi All,
Could anyone please explain for me why the moz scores that show under SERPs in Google search show one set of values, but when i click on the SERP listing and go to that page, the Moz scores at the bottom of the tab the page is open in are completely different. I.E -

Hi,
I am trying to rank on page one on Google UK for the term 'wireless alarms'. the page i have optimised for this terms is www.compoundsecurity.co.uk/security-equipment and i have just completely revamped the text, tags and titles on this in the last 48 hours. It is not showing up in the top 50 yet, but this page http://www.compoundsecurity.co.uk/security-information/gsm-gprs-alarm-systems is showing up in position 47 for some reason.
I know i will not get to the top 5 or 6, as these are held by Amazon, Screwfix, Ebay etc., however, i have found something i don't understand.
There is one result in position 4 called www.wireless-alarms.net. But his DA is 9 and PA is 24 and links to his site is 3. Our stats are DA 47 and PA 39 and we have 15,000 links.
Question. How is his SERP position so high?
Also, although i have submited my page (www.compoundsecurity.co.uk/security-equipment) to Google Index, it is not showing the correct page yet. I guess this indexing can take a few days?
Any suggestions how i can achieve a better position with the correct page being displayed?
I am new to this and on a fast learning curve and want to learn as much as possible. Sorry to keep asking so many questions, but you guys are excellent.
Thank you
Si
Thank you Christy, I had been going round in circles.
Have a good weekend.

Hi,
I have set up a weekly crawl with Moz Pro and input all my keywords etc. and it is working fine, however, we have made changes to our onsite keywords and i'll be damned if i can figure out how to A) find the list that i input to Moz Pro and B) how to change them.
Needless to say i am fairly new to this, only been using it a couple of weeks.
Any help would be appreciated greatly.
Cheers
Hi Chris,
