i use google adsense on www.in2town.co.uk but i am not sure the text ads are working as since the 1st april we have not had any clicks and tried contacting google to find out if the text ads are working. how do the image ads compare to the text ads in revenue, and the links ads, do you have a good example of how these are used. can you have three google adsense ads and a link ad or do you have to just have three in total

It depends on the use you are going to give to the CMS and what kind of capabilities you are looking for. I think that Keri is talking about nice advertorial that gets loaded with a ton of spammy links. It's not about the quality of the content.  It's what people are trying to use it for.  (Getting your site to vote for their site in ways that Google doesn't approve.)

Hi Tim, We recommend Wordpress for all non ecomm sites and Joomla/Magento for the ecomm ones. Wordpress with all their plugins is very SEO friendly as well as a user friendly interface in the backend . We tried it for e-comm sites as well however had a very bad experience when the client wanted to customize the e-comm solution on the wordpress platform. Cheers,

I am going to get rid of some of the social bookmarks now. i have aldready got rid of one but not sure if i should keep the floating one on the left which is for people to like the article. What i want people to do is, i want them to share the article and then i want them to look at other articles

Thanks mememax, I see what you mean, now. The site I was talking about was a nice-looking news site, and a few years ago, I would have written about them, and I still may, but I'm not going to link to them, because that might suck me into a bad-link vortex, and I've got enough troubles of my own, so I don't want to add to them. (not that I've ever paid for any incoming links, but "something" else is wrong, that nobody seems to be able to diagnose.)

I think it is about understanding how to use it. for example i was trying to find out on www.cheapflightsgatwick.com  which is a wordpress site how to add more links under the holiday ideas and under the travel news  but even though i have checked and checked using the tool i still can find out the answer. for me i would like the tool to be made a bit more simple to use but maybe that is just me not understanding it properly

That's correct.  I don't know the specifics, however in this case, I would assume the reduced frequency/volume would mean less trouble dealing with the hosting provider's internal challenges.

Hi Peter, But still no local aspect to the rank tracking? I was hoping that with having David Mihm on-board, the Rank Tracker would also allow for Local Rank Tracker? Any idea when this feature would be implemented? Just checking... Cheers Greg

Hello Tim, Assuming you are already using Search Engine Friendly (SEF) URLs, try this: http://www.pathfindertech.net/joomla-1-5-and-link-rel-canonical-seo/ I had a look at the http://callprobest.com site mentioned as an example in that post, including the www. version, and it seems to be functioning correctly. They use the same version of Joomla you're using. You may also need to use this SEF extension too if you haven't already: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/site-management/sef/10134 Good luck!

Ann: I agree that paying for content is only one way of getting it. And I, too, am an advocate of guest blogging when done right. I also think it's unwise to post on your website "We pay for articles." You will get a lot of crap that wastes your time. Since I am a writer and editor,  I usually just write the article myself. If I am too busy to do so, I just commission the article myself with a single phone call to a writer I already know. I appreciate not everyone is in the same position.

hi, can you explainabout the DM, not sure what that is and if you can explain about doing a rel no follow, what would the reason be on this and would this be for the whole page. The problem i do have is, the page is about gastric band hypnotherapy and there are loads of articles with the word gastric band hypnotherapy in them, so this is a major problem when it comes with too many of the same words on the page. one thing that does worry me and i am not sure if it is my computer or if everyone is seeing this, but before xmas when i typed in gastric band hypnotherapy, or in2town gastric band hypnotherapy, then my site main page for this subject would come up as gastric band hypnotherapy, but now, for some reason the title comes up as gastric band hypnotherapy in2town lifestyle magazine, and also the url is showing www.in2town.co.uk and then next to it, health. can anyone confirm if they are seeing this as well and if so why has it happened.

can you explain more about the below please Hope I'm not being too harsh here, but don't expect a magic wand in your situation.  A quick link profile comparison between you and your competitors is enough to raise an eyebrow, and the ad-banner/logo combo in your header kind of begs a bounce. as a user what would you change, this would help me a lot. Last year we were number one under the keyword lifestyle magazine, and then in january we were number four and now we are about 15 which is not good so we are doing something wrong. some of the links above which include http://www.nelifestyle.co.uk/ have no content on the page so not sure how they are ranking better than we are. We just want to make the magazine the best it can be to attract more visitors and to rank better as that works hand in hand, without ranking well we cannot get the visitors.
