A Google Update Happened?
it still looks to be rolling out, lots of turbulence still. I have been lucky so far to only be seeing small movements and not the big drops some have seen. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

G is for Google
Sounds to me it's more like a PR thing + a organisational restructure to get business wise not in trouble with laws etc.

Google Panda 4.2 Is Here
Just got my weekly MOZ report and see a huge drop in Google SERP for a ton of my keywords. I see similar drops for the competitors I am tracking as well though. I don't know if this is a MOZ reporting issue or if there was that big of a shakeup in the keyword rankings across the board. I have noticed bigger changes in keyword impressions/position in Google Webmaster Tools this week, so maybe the 4.2 update is the cause. I am in the real estate industry by the way.

Google Mobile Update
You can also use Google's dedicated Mobile-Friendly Test to ascertain if your site cuts the mustard or not. Yours, I'm happy to report, does.

Facebook & Instagram outage.
All they will ever say is it's self inflicted/internal. Google+ and North Korea probably teamed up to hack them and Tinder. LOL!

Dude Phishing on Moz
Hi Chenzo, We've actually just back a report as spam button in the PM system that you can use for this. This account also triggered some other systems we have, so I've already banned it. Thanks for letting us know! I've gone and removed some of the information, but will leave the question up so people know what to do if they do get spammed. Keri

Got hot - real hot.
Hi Chenzo, We noticed some real big increases across about 15 of our target keyword phrases a day or two after the recent algo updated (granted denied by Google). These updates for us we think are due to this update as we've been expecting the rank changes for a long time but much of our efforts could not budge our SERPs positions. Even though all our indicators were showing that we were not where we were supposed to be in relation to our competitors. I would add that these rank changes have affected our US positions, or UK positions (where we are located) have stayed relatively the same. In reference to Oren's comments for we always expect to see a drop in traffic around the 16th of the December and that I can see is staying true to the nature of our business. The positions I would add are centred around maybe a cluster of pages that have high PA, they are the ones where I've seen jumps in numbers of +9 as an average, with one in particular on a +20 (now first page) where previously it has stayed roughly on page 2 and 3 (Google SERPs) for most of this year. One has gone from 12 to 2 overnight and is still there today. Best, David

YELP: Legit, or is it wearing Prada's with a black hat?
No! They should use Yelp, just in the right way. Expect some bad reviews and be prepared to deal with them, fix whatever went wrong. With any business there will be good/bad reviews, just don't try to manipulate to your favor, sooner or later that can backfire (as it is happening to the lawyer, or even customers can spot those fake reviews).

Google Releases Panda Update 21, Impacts 1.1% Of US Queries In English
I had an adult toy store client get hit hard and it looks like most of their competition did too.I'd love to hear any thoughts on why they would drop in rankings.

Wiget Creation - boiler text - Mozcast optimized?
Chenzo, In my experience if you are using the same anchor text which is also in the domain (like brand name) then its fine because how you will stop people linking to you with your brand name (logically you can’t!) but using the keyword like ‘SEO widgets’ as an anchor text doesn’t make much sense... Hope this helps!

Google Will Penalize Sites Repeatedly Accused Of Copyright Infringement
They won't. It seems DMCA requests are handled differently for those sites and not counted the same way. ...and even if you were counted, you have to remember this isn't a "penalty". I don't understand why SEL is calling it a penalty when the official announcement says it'll be one of the 200+ signals. So I think it's an algo factor. Just like Site Speed is a factor. Slow sites still rank today because there's 200+ other factors also being considered.

Google Pushed Out Panda Update 3.9 Last Night
Ah ha. Maybe this is why. I have been puzzling all day over something. Briefly, on 22nd May my ranking for my number one keyword fell from 3 to around 50. My traffic dropped from about 180 visitors per day to about 35 and my income was halved as I have many repeat buyers that kept me afloat. This morning I got my number 3 ranking back. Woo-Hoo. I just want it to stay there a while, preferably forever, I hated all those crappy sites outranking me
