I did see some major fluctuations in rankings over this past week.

Should I stop recommending clients to be in yelp?

In my experience with multiple domains forwarding to 1 mothership - I have seen issues with rankings and overall organic nature of all sites.
It would be best to at least place a few pages, >5 on the sister sites with authentic content - referencing the mothership with jpeg logos etc - to eliminate an un-healthy back link profile.

I have been using http://www.semrush.com/ for a long now and am looking for recommendations of another portal of similar - or better?
My main concern is being able to pull up all keywords google has given organically to a URL.
Any help?

You can "no-index" them within the html - but if you really want a fun trick - when and if you are not able to get around mass amount of duped content and it isn't for the sake of rankings - example, MLS listings, etc
Change the content into a pdf - or file format - thus not being able to be crawled.
Once again - it will NOT be crawled - so don't go doing this to an entire site
But maybe your clients confidential data - can be submitted this way - and it will not get indexed - except for the subpage - but then you can no index that subpage.

Universal wordpress settings are not best practice and it is my suggestion to install - "seo ultimate" but only utilize the "title tag" "meta tag" features as it will allow you to structure the post/wordpress site to SEO spec.
Also giving you the option for categories etc.

Bob - that principal still applies and the quicker the visitor can be in front of a potential conversion/purchase - the better.
From ans SEO perspective though - do not rob yourself at creating as many as subpages of product pages as NATURALLY possible - splitting the products within niche - within niche.

P.S. - supply a Top 5-10 products which changes either monthly or quarterly with seasonal market trends with also boost conversion and overall appeal of your homepage.

Google said that worldwide, the update will impact about 0.4% of queries that a regular user might notice. For those searching in the United States in English, the percentage is higher. 1.1%, Google says.

I'm anxious to see if anyone else has any insider information Adam.
BloomReach announced a new software product named Dynamic Duplication Reduction (DDR), that aims to eliminate duplicate content issues on web sites.
Anyone have any feedback on this yet - seems to go to be true if you ask me.

Depending on the vertical - you may be able to achieve more local/geographical rankings - but if this company has deep pockets and is branded as well as like "go-pro" or something else - you be better off finding another low hanging fruite - or your life could become a major battle throughout the longevity of the URL.
Not to mention - it will be tough for you branding if the other URL carries good recognition globally - or has the potential to out to you at the drop of a dime.

No way at all do you want to post duplicate content - even spun content.

Plus in a post penguin/panda world - you are really walking on thin ice.

Trust me - getting authentic content from a client will be like getting a hamburger at a veagan road side vendor - but YOU GOT TO!

Not only does it give you the times the KW is searched but it list the top 10 competitors - with a very thorough analylsis of them all.
Killer tool - and just one of many when becoming PRO.

I agree with Robert here Kate -
Keep in mind a 404 is like being placed in a room without any doors or windows.
The link juice stops and so do the bots.
It would be best to re-direct them and or take them down.
You could also implement a site wide script that can populate a landing page when a member has been removed vs a 404 error.

Christopher - you cover just 2 of the soft and hard values that the big G uses to give the page/domain rank.
Keep in mind that a while back - no-follow links were not crawled by the BOTS - but more recently than not - it seems that all links are crawled and given some value.
This is to ensure that you are not selling large quantities of links and or linking to adult/gambling sites.
But remember - what "gives" rank is a lot more in depth.

My saying is - if it doesn't make sense - it will not rank in a post penguin/panda world.
How old is the URL ?
Best thing to do though is if you have jumped to 2nd page within the first 3 months - then:
CONTENT _ CONTENT _ CONTENT
Remember Google's job is to provide the searcher the BEST resource.
