Is it worth setting up a Google Plus page for your blog?
Hey Brad, if it is just you and it is your personal brand you are trying to build then I would stick with that. I have a small business (really just me as a consultant) and I have a business and personal page and it's tough to maintain them both and ultimately, I am putting the same kind of stuff up there so... really, my personal page is the one that gets all the attention. It's different if you are a brand or larger company that people can interact with in different ways but if you are small or primarily a consultant then focusing on your personal page would be my advice. Hope that helps Marcus

Please help me critique my friends site
Thanks Andrew. I definitely agree regarding the white text. Was hoping for a few more answers Here's what I had in mind, please let me know if you think I'm way off: Having a blog on site and a blog excerpt on the homepage with a snippet of the latest post (cocktail recipes, hosting parties with the correct glasses, polycarbonate vs regular glass etc) (unfortunately can only create on a subdomain on bigcommerce) Increase the content on the homepage and add cocktail of the week, glass of the week, links to individual glasses etc Making the main homepage banners smaller in height to move more content up above the fold Adding more content on the products page - it's very light on Highlight the addition of their new online store more - ie have a link in the header in the empty black space that links directly to their store. Also highlight it in the text below the main banners Change colour of add to cart button on individual product pages Add trust/security logos to products/cart Expand on FAQs and About Us pages - also include pages for shipping/returns They have social media accounts - link to them in the header Increase number of inbound links - any ideas on this? Thanks

Setting Up Author Tags on Wordpress Blog
OK I understand. Similar to what I have done on http://www.cookwareblog.com.au/? the latest post is linking to my G+ profile, the 2nd newest post is from another author within our company. I'll guess I will wait a while and see if they appear correctly in the SERPs. Thanks for your help!

Author Tag on Blogger - What am I Doing Wrong?!
Hi Jane, It appears that the correct authors are now appearing in the SERPs. All I did was make sure that each blogger was listed as a contributor and for each post I simply added "Written by Author Name - Author Name Google+". I linked the "Author Name Google +" to the respective G+ account and from the G+ account back to the blog under the 'Contributor To' field. Anyway, all seems to be working now - just thought I'd reply in case anyone needs help in the future! Many thanks, Brad

Benefits of getting inbound links to your Facebook account to go through your domain?
I think point 3 is the biggest one. instead of searching facebook for you or remembering your facebook page url, they will be remembering your main domain url which is good for future business.

Best way to use popular YouTube channel for SEO purposes
Hi Brad, Ask not what you can do to maximise your SEO, but what can you do to make your user experience better. In other words ensure that your visitor gets all the info he/she needs. 1. Make sure you link to products in the Video Description so anyone watching can easy find and purchase. 2. Have you considered creating a transcript to go along with the video? 3. Are the videos embedded on your product pages? 4. Have you shared the videos with your social circles? 5. Are the videos correctly branded with your website logo and URL? alot can change in a few years is the branding the same as it was when the videos were produced? 6. Have you considered creating some new videos? You channel may or may not have subscribers who could come back and view your new videos and maybe purchase a product or two. These are just my initial thoughs on what I would consider doing, I'm sure you have already touched upon these. Cheers Aran

What would you do with virtually unlimited quality content?
Unlimited QUALITY content? That makes me salivate. Be sure that each new piece of content is going to do at least one if these things: get you out in the SERPs for new keywords, provide information that visitors are interested in, be a magnet for social attention and links. The cooking niche is enormous. However, I personally would not give one page of QUALITY content those "smaller blogs, buying guides and social media accounts" especially if they are "interlinked in a random way". I would put all of my energy into building a fortress instead of building a lot of hotdog stands out yonder.

Should links to your social media accounts be followed?
i wouldn't use nofollow in that case either. link juice is no longer preserved by using nofollow, so other than sites "not trusted" or links that are "paid for" (as stated by EGOL), i no longer see other reasons to use them. i just can't think of an advantage here. and if you don't want pages like privacy policy etc. indexed, you'd better go with meta robots "noindex".

Should the Google Plus button be sitewide?
Thanks for the responses. Just a quick follow up question - would you make the links to these social media pages/accounts no follow as to not leak any link juice from your page? Or by making them followed, your social media accounts (particularly a page like Pinterest where some of the links are followed) gain a higher page authority and are thus more useful from a SEO point of view. Or is this just a really dumb question?
