  • Hello Friends, I hope that you are all having an amazing day and this message finds you well! Unfortunately, it seems that you have run into some of the slightly less awesome aspects of our products. The standard time setting in the dashbaord is set to weekly. The way we collect traffic data is that we make collections every day and compile those collections at the end of the week to form a weekly collection. Since the dashboard is set to a weekly time frame and we do not have seven days worth of data just yet, it is displayed as a zero. Once seven days have passed you should begin to see traffic data within the dashboard. In the interim though, you can always go to the Traffic from Search section and select the daily time frame to collect all of most recent amazing traffic data. Here is a screen capture for reference: http://screencast.com/t/7HLdeJn6. I will speak to our product team to see if we can clean up the messaging for the dashbaord but in the meantime if you have any questions for me let me know. Have a spectacular day and may Roger be with you!

  • Hi Morgan. The example that you just posted is working fine, i.e. when you try to go to http://www.morganlindsayphotography.com/author/pnkspikchik/ you're redirected to http://www.morganlindsayphotography.com/ and now when you try to go to those old Wedding 404 pages it goes your current wedding package page.  Seems to all be in order. Cheers!

  • Hey Matthew, You're so right that it can be hard to figure out who to hire, and when it comes to Local SEO, you definitely need a service provider that specializes in this field. In addition to the Moz recommend list Don has linked to, I recommend that you look at the list of people who participate in the annual Local Search Ranking Factors survey. Everyone on that list is a recognized expert in this field. See in the right column of this page: http://moz.com/local-search-ranking-factors With that list, you should have some really terrific providers to consider!

  • Hello Tom, You answered a question for me some time ago, and i appreciate it.  I wanted to ask you, I am a very small business, I do my own site, seo, etc.  After being involved with a company that milked me for $...i realized that I can do SEO on my own...I have a great blog, 10,000 followers on Facebook Page, doing ok in basic SEO.  I do believe that this kind of has to be done organically these days, as content & linkbuilding needs to be authentic now? However, I obviously am NOT a professional, I believe my site has some issues and I cannot really deal with them well.  For example, my RSS feed is screwed up...http://www.seadwellers.com/key-largo-diving-blog/ I am getting this error message..."RSS Error: This XML document is invalid, likely due to invalid characters. XML error: not well-formed (invalid token) at line 257, column 32" I have not been able to fix this...and I think I have other on-page SEO isssues that are above me. Do you offer a one-time service that could address these kind of things?   I do not have big budget, but could use a look-over of my page for on-page issues that you could "optimize" for me? Also, what is you opinion on linkbuilding these days?  Is this something you think i can address on my own? Thank you,  Rob Sea Dwellers Dive Center of Key Largo

  • I just wrote a better  reply so forgive me the file was deleted by hit post. But I do think this information will help you get acquainted much better with a crawl budget One thing that may not incorporate your domain however is that is not centered a external link is a content delivery or CDN URL that is not rewritten to the traditional CDN.example.com Content delivery network URLs can look like https://example.cachefly.net/images/i-love-cats.jpg https://example.global.prod.fastly.net/images/i-love-cats-more.png So you may see URLs like one shown here should be considered part of your domain and treated like a domain even if they look like this but these are just two examples of literally thousands CDN variants. Examples for this would be the cost of incorporating your hostname to a HTTPS encrypted content delivery network can be very expensive. • Just a note that we've discontinued the old Crawl Test tool and have launched an entirely new On-Demand Crawl tool based on our upgraded Site Crawl engine (launched last year). The new tool has an enhanced UI, entirely rebuilt back-end, full export capability, and will save your old crawls for up to 90 days. We've written up a sample case study or logged-in customers can go directly to On-Demand Crawl. If you're looking to crawl more than 3,000 pages, you can also use campaign-based Site Crawl in Moz Pro.

  • There's few tools online offering traffic estimate service. In my opinion none is accurate enough to be relevant. you just need to try them with url of websites you have log access to see how poor their guess are. as far as i know moz doesn't offer such a tool if i have to name one of those tool i would name semrush, when I tested it's accurancy I found it to report traffic volumes between 10% and 100% wrong, which is more accurate than many others and it's still giving you an idea of a website traffic

  • Ah. This explains a bit more about your previous questions. If possible you need to make sure that your client gains ownership over his older domain.  Without access to the Registrar rights you're not going to be able to edit the nameserver and registry information to show that he owns it as well as do the necessary server side work to control the old domain. Wherever the old domain name is currently registered you'll need to contact them and inquire about the process regarding gaining complete ownership of the domain. Since your client is a lawyer he can probably be pretty persuasive in this area.

  • Is the established website staying active? Or is he moving all business to the new website?  If the latter, feel free to update citations as well as redirecting to the new site.  If he's keeping both websites and they're different businesses, you'll have to treat the new one as a separate entity and go through the process of developing its marketing and SEO from scratch.  Keep the old citations pointing to the original site, and work on developing new ones for the new site.  Cheers!

  • Hello Ashish, indexing and caching of pages depends upon many factors :- (1) dynamic nature of website (2) frequency and priority of webpages in XML sitemap (3) posting of webpages in G+, twitter and other social sites, freshness and uniqueness of content and lastly how popular your website. Its good new that Google is crawling website quickly just because of hard work associated with your work. 65% bounce rate is too much. Bounce rate directly depends upon session, session% and number of page view per visit. If you any particular visit in Google analytics, bounce rate shows lesser for visit with good number of page views. Hence more page visit per visitor, lesser bounce rate. To decrease bounce rate, use more related links and images to landing page. Additionally, use of images and inforgraphics can drastically lower down bounce rate and hence good keyword ranking. thanks and cheers
