  • This is a good answer, but the pages that the bigcommerce tags appear on with the blog posts, isn't editable , it's just aggregating the blog posts based on tags like you said, not sure how to place that nofollow tag on just those tag pages. Almost seems like they shouldn't be an issue but are because of how bigcommerce is handling this tag process. I don't want to put the nofollow tag on the blog posts themselves, since I want that content index so it can rank, so still kinda stuck between a tag and a hard place.

  • First i'm on Mac since 2008/09 and i missed Windows7,8 and 10. But i have experience since Windows 3.0 somewhere in 91/92. So longs story short - you should do routine website testing in Edge just to see that everything is correct and works perfect. You shouldn't see any impact if you don't follow their suggestions. Actual all web developers and designers have long and difficult partnership with IE. IE6 trying to break W3C standards and implement own version of them. This is described here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Explorer_box_model_bug IE7 fixes them but add new "bugs", and IE8 add new portion of them. This is described here: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2009/10/css-differences-in-internet-explorer-6-7-and-8/ http://code.tutsplus.com/tutorials/9-most-common-ie-bugs-and-how-to-fix-them--net-7764 https://css-tricks.com/ie-css-bugs-thatll-get-you-every-time/ and in many other articles. So all devs finally was little bit pissed off and stop supporting IE at all. They just make some IE specific hacks for specific versions user just to see something almost correct. Later Webkit and Firefox join the party in CSS and add their own versions of CSS styles. Each of them start with webkit- or moz- as prefix. Opera also joins the party with o- preffix. But they fix almost all vendor prefixes within years with CSS3 and finally all agreed to abandon them. But all "vendors" comes with autoupdated browsers so they push new versions to users. You can't imagine today working with other than current version of Firefox, Chrome or Opera. Safari is different because actual version is only on current version of OSX. And in this world only IE is outdated... Just MS refuses to push new versions to old OSes. So today as Bob Dylan sing "Times have changed" everything is different. And Microsoft is trying to bring back support of all standards they lacking in past. But web here is different than web before and bringing support for IE is hard. That's why they sent mails about "possible problems". Honestly mine site works in IE 6,7,8,9,10 and 11 (tested, no joke!) and should works in Edge too (not tested). So that's why they sent you mail about "possible issues". In all web companies are jokes about IE6 or IE7 support: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2011/11/but-the-client-wants-ie-6-support/ http://www.sitepoint.com/how-to-stop-wasting-time-developing-for-internet-explorer/ And if today Microsoft warn us about "standartds" we should ask them where have they are all over years NOT supporting standards?

  • There's a good, detailed article on this very issue from PMG. Does this answer your question? If you don't think it does, can you provide more detail about your app, as this will help you get better answers. When was your app last updated? Are you referring to having 4 stars overall (i.e. over all versions of your app)? Or is that the star rating for the most recent version? How many reviews does your app have, for the latest version and over all versions?

  • HI, I feel your pain coming from Greece with many of the same issues regarding how people search vs how the language is 'properly' written. I cannot give you a definitive answer but I will tell you how I approach it. 1. ALWAYS write site texts in a grammatically correct way. I cannot bring myself to use foreign letters in place of accented letters or write greek words using english characters even though that is often how people search for things. It looks totally spammy and unprofessional in my opinion so it is a non starter. 2. The moz page grading engine has a lot of trouble with foreign languages and their different tense cases. I think google has a better understanding of this complexity and is likely to only get better at understanding that words in different tenses are all referring to the same subject. So with the above in mind I would suggest for your specific questions: 1. Write the texts in a grammatically correct way that serves the interests of you visitors and present your subject in a proper way. A good writer should be able to find a way to include a variety of tenses and phrases that address the same subject. Depending on the use of the text you can get an 'extra' nominative case into places like a caption for a photo for example.  If you search for 'atvirkštinis stogas' you will see already that google is bolding some of the search results that are not exactly that phrase (stogo, stogai) which I assume are a case and plural variation(?). So google does appear to understand some of the variations already. 2. For minor foreign character variations it could be worth popping one version into the page in a non obvious place (maybe a img alt text?). I am not really saying this is a good tactic - but it might be worth testing to see what happens. Generally if you are ranking strongly for the properly written phrase then you should be pretty strong already for the same phrase using a non accented character in place of an accented one and a single appearance of it in the page might be enough to make the difference. Hope it helps!

  • Hi There, I'm so sorry, but I've never marketed a business in the UK or Ireland. If you don't receive a response from a UK marketer in the community, I recommend taking your question to Google's own Google My Business forum: https://www.en.advertisercommunity.com/t5/Google-My-Business/ct-p/GMB You are certain to get an answer there.

  • Not sure this is the forum for that question. Most of us here frown upon the technique because it doesn't actually add value to the web. Is your goal to produce content for your own site? Or is it to get away with spreading duplicate content across the web, like a graffiti artist who always misspells his name hoping no one notices it is always him? Does this sound like a web you want to use? Anyway, the biggest problems with content spinners is they tend to rely on 2 features, both of which aren't very good... Exact synonym substitution: Basically, the number of variations you get is dependent upon how loose you are willing to be with substitution quality. Either you get a few variations because you are careful (and quality remains decent), or you get a lot of variations and the quality is weak. Sentence structure modification: Switching passive/active, moving prepositional phrases, etc. can provide greater variation but the sentences can often end up sounding quite awkward. There are some other technologies out there which do a slightly better job. However, all of these end up balancing uniqueness against readability. **Your best solution is always producing unique content by hand, targeted to the audience you are reaching out to. **

  • Hey Nico, Hate to say it, but this sounds like a serious mess. If there are multiple websites sharing partial or complete NAP and phone numbers being held hostage by third parties, I think: You need a formal audit from a heavy-hitting Local SEO agency to find all of the problems. Even with that, unless you have the authority and green light to launch a massive cleanup, involving all doctors and the practice, your hands may be tied here. This is one of those really difficult situations one sometimes wades into without realizing the depth of the pool. What you are describing sounds like a very large project, but a good agency can tackle large projects methodically, one step at a time. What is the real concern here is the mention of legal problems and phone numbers being held hostage. There's not going to be a simple solution for this, and it may be that the company needs to work out its internal matters before any SEO team can help them

  • I have read a lot of the responses here. While some of it I agree with, I think we are overlooking some very basic ideas about search engines and what they do, how they work and how we get credit for backlinks that push up the domain authority of our websites. So lets start at the beginning. It is a 'given in the SEO industry' that google citations (listings on multiple business listing sites) is important and that by signing up for YEXT we are attempting to solve a two-fold problem: We are synchronizing the NAP issue  read more here ( name address phone number) for the purpose of resolving NAP consistency. we are having our sites listed on Showmelocal, Manta, Foursquare, Yelp etc in a synchronized format with a clickable link to our URL. ( domain of our business) The second one, we immediately assume that by signing up for YEXT  we will have our business domain listed there and google will give us credit for this backlink - WELL THIS WILL ONLY HAPPEN IF THAT PAGE THAT YOU ARE ON IS INDEXED BY GOOGLE. I.E. YOUR LISTING ON FOURSQUARE OR SHOWMELOCAL GETS INDEXED BY GOOGLE. AND THEN YOUR BUSINESS WEBSITE GETS INDEXED BY GOOGLE A FEW DAYS LATER  -AND THEN GOOGLE GIVES YOUR CREDIT BECAUSE YOU HAVE A HIGH RANKING DOMAIN AUTHORITY DOFOLLOW BACKLINK POINTING TOWARDS YOUR BUSINESS URL. This is not the case.  Some people have mentioned on here that google sees these links.  Google WILL NOT unless they get indexed. I agree with Chris Ashton that google does not see these links until a long time later - this is due to the amount of time it takes to index these sites and all these pages.  Only when those pages with your business URL are indexed and your business site is indexed will you get credit. If you find this explanation to be inaccurate then test it.  You have to be testing it with a domain that you have signed up for YEXT and you cannot find its citation listings with its backlink when you perform an MOZ backlink search. Look at a business that is signed up for  YEXT and not showing google citations when you use MOZ or other software. Perform a search in the same format as it is displayed on foursquare without the https: ....eg. enter the domainname.com  just on its own into the google search bar....look through the pages ....if you cannot find it then the foursquare page is not indexed.  Or search the name of the business with "foursquare" along side it in the google search bar.... eg: Bergman dentistry Queens foursquare ( a fictitious practice) **if you dont see it in the SERPS pages -and  it listed on foursquare-  then its not indexed - ** hence you have confirmation. ** try with other citations sites... ** My solution - take the link to the profile page on foursquare or any other site - paste it multiple times into indexkings.com or pingfarm.com ( many advise against this but how else do you index someone else's site that you have no control over and you cannot login into search console) - also copy those  multiple links and paste them into about 5-10 youtube video comment sections ( preferably your own) - when you tube indexes it it will crawl those links.  then create a separate page on you site title links. paste the 100 or so google citation profile pages in here, now index the  page manually using search console....when google crawls that page it will index those links..... Failing this try to manually login into the profile pages - make some changes and update them - then do the method above. comments are welcome, but the above has worked for me... PH PS - i made a correction  as a I had previously mentioned YELP instead of YEXT.  my mistake.
