Dropping Lower and Lower
Thanks for the response Kane, I'll look into the SSL issue, I know there is mixed content loading which triggers a warning on firefox's address bar but I didn't know that chrome was showing an error. Thanks! I'll try and get the footer links updated like you recommended as well. I'll also look at adding additional content via a blog page so that things don't appear so stagnant. For the pages you listed, I'll work on getting those integrated into one. Thats definitely a good case where it makes sense to have one page since "best web design college station texas" contains the keyword "web design college station tx" so it should list for both. Thanks for the tips!

Assessing the true value of a backlink
I agree with Chris. It is not a question of quantity but natural quality. Hummingbird and Penguin from Google had become smarter and and they quickly detect excessive link building campaigns. Google warned that it is now forbidden to cheat the authority of a site this way and strongly suggests indexing nofollow links. Social Network are strongly recommended such Google Plus, Pinterest, Linkedin, Twitter and Facebook are the strongest. Modern new types of directories are created and respects Paid Link and Link Scheme such as WISE. Many directories are penalized by Penguin for not meeting its new recommendations of Google. A natural baclink profile is now the best way to achieve your goals. Google will always follow a Nofollow link coming from a site that has a strong reputation and will now transfer "Trust" instead of Linkjuice.

Does Moz's keyword tool pull data from your IP address?
Hiya! With respect to locations for rankings, there are 3 things I wanted to touch on. First, when collecting your rankings, Moz makes no assumptions whatsoever about your physical location. The location information that we use is specified by the campaign settings that you enter, whether that comes in the form of the country-specific search engines that you're tracking within your campaign settings or the locations that you've specifically assigned to keywords for local tracking. As far as these national keywords go, Moz is querying the search engine in a process that completely strips personalization from the query. This means that it's more representative of a national average for all searchers in the country, but it also means that you may not be able to reproduce these exact SERPs within your browser because your location is factored into your search results. For local keywords, I can't speak to the exact method that we utilize to represent local searches, but I can say that (at least for Google) we no longer utilize cookies to make location-specific determinations. I hope this helps to explain!

New websites
If it's only about the H1 - if you look at the source the H1 tag is commented Example; http://runforcharity.com/start-to-run/get-off-that-couch/getting-fit-for-a-marathon - H1 tag in source: Seems more an issue with your developers than content. The main title on that page is GETTING FIT FOR A MARATHON - which is the H2 title. I would change this to the H1? Dirk

Can you recommend any widgets or additions for a local landing page?
Hi Scott! Good question! Your specific industry is likely to dictate whether a widget will be useful, but I don't really know of a general widget that would directly impact local or localized organic rank. One might indirectly impact rankings if the presence of it enticed users to stay on a page longer, but I think it really depends on whether users found it highly useful and different than some app they already have on their cell phone (like weather!). I do recommend that you check out this 2015 post from Phil Rozek about building location landing pages. It's a good one: http://www.localvisibilitysystem.com/2015/04/06/25-principles-of-building-effective-city-pages-for-local-seo/ Hope it helps!

E-Commerce Mobile Pagination Dillema
Hi Sarah, First of all, Martijn is right, any of your solutions are definitely not cloaking. Google understands the complications of pagination. Your solution is probably the simplest, as long as that extra content doesn't slow page load too much. You can also paginate in a way that's even between mobile and desktop, so multiple mobile pages can canonical to the same desktop page. For example, if the desktop version of review pages lists 10 reviews per page, and the mobile version lists 5, then mobile pages 1 and 2 would refer to desktop page 1; mobile pages 3 and 4 would refer to desktop page 2; etc. Either way, you're on the right track! Google Answer Box Optimization?
I wouldnt say only backlinks were the reason as backlinks is only one part. I gained links from Wiki - as you know Google loves Wikipedia and pulls a lot of information from Wiki to knowledge graph. I build backlinks from Wiki and some other sources to our main page. After about 5-6 months, the answer box was showing. I also remember one thing that I forgot to mention earlier. It can sometimes take a lot of time to kick competitor out of answer box and get yourself up there. Food for thought - If you can build a click through relationship between searches and the webpage in question, I am sure Google can start giving you more favor if you increase click through rate for that particular keyword of yours. If you are already ranking higher then chances are that you are getting more clicks already but maybe from a different geographic location your competitor is getting more clicks and has a better click through rate.

How to get more Facebook likes
Hi Bob, I don't believe the price of what you are selling has a significant impact on the cost of ad clicks. The audience definition you use along with the relevance score of your ads is what will have the most significant impact in determining how much you will pay for ad clicks. Whether or not your ad campaign will be successful in selling a $50 product, I cannot say. There are a lot more factors that go into this. Generally, I like to use social ad campaigns to promote content or even just as a remarketing campaign so I know I am only reaching users who are familiar with the brand/website I am promoting. Let me know if that helps, I may have misunderstood your question!

Making people to submit a lots of data
Bryan, Chris thank you for your help! It ensured me that there's no golden rule for this problem. The problem is, that I'll need people to add quite boring data (e.g. demographics, car and real-estate conditions). I'm considering to split it up somehow and slowly but surely make people submit all the needed data. Capturing an email address and then guide the users through a personalised program making them fill everything, seems reasonable. I was just surprised that I hardly found anything in this topic on the interwebs. Maybe I'll write one our of this case.

Sitemaps and dynamic pages
Hey Malika, If you're talking about HTML sitemaps for a site with thousands of pages then I would even stay away from it and go for the XML sitemaps that you could add to speed up indexation. The keyword focused ones won't help you enough for now to make life easier to speed up indexation and might even cause bigger issues as you'll have thousand or hundreds of links on one page. Martijn.

Htaccess redirect, from /year/month to /blog
This is the right answer minus a few excess characters. If the blog structure is domain.com/2015/09/title-of-blog then the correct code would be as follows: RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule ^[0-9]+/[0-9]+/(.*)$ blog/$1 [R=301,L] This will result in: domain.com/blog/title-of-blog. In other words, Peter you had it right but you just had a few extra characters (you assumed the specific day was also included in the URL structure). Yours would work perfectly if the URL structure was domain.com/2015/09/02/title-of-blog Also, if anyone ever wants to test your rewrite rules this is a great tool. http://htaccess.mwl.be/.
