  • As mentioned in another comment, PA is for an individual page while DA represents the entire site. So it is entirely possible to have pages with different PA's. More information on both can be found via these links: https://moz.com/learn/seo/page-authority https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

  • Google could ignore any given metadata when it wants and how it wants. Ive seen this nummerous times that a manual set title and description is being thrown overboard and google simply selects the content thats onpage in this case. Dont stare blind on it; make sure your content is relevant on which you wanted to be searched for in the first place. The rest will pretty much follow.

  • No, you won't. In most cases, you'll be totally fine. I would only worry when either your area is incredibly competitive or when there are competitors with very similar brand names.

  • Thanks, Chris. We should have no external links pointing to the URLs with the additional product parameters. Are we losing any SEO juice for our internal pages, with the internal links with the additional parameters attached being no follow. For example. For this page: https://www.remke.com/aluminum-strain-relief-cord-grips/ All of the internal links to the "filtered" products/options are marked no follow. ex: https://www.remke.com/aluminum-strain-relief-cord-grips/?cordgriptype=45%20Degree (no follow when linked from the facet filtering on the lefthand side of the site). But the page itself: https://www.remke.com/aluminum-strain-relief-cord-grips/?cordgriptype=45%20Degree has a canonical pointing back to https://www.remke.com/aluminum-strain-relief-cord-grips/. Are we losing any SEO juice from the internal traffic utilizing the filters or is it a moot point and we should just leave it how it is? Thanks again for the help.

  • It seems like Google only has a handful of distinct pages indexed at the moment - whereas bing has about 10x as many. So that seems to indicate something wrong specifically for Google. I'd start by checking your search console - are there any errors? If you use the URL inspection tool and visit the URL in question (studyplaces.com/15-best-minors-for-business-majors/) does it tell you why it has been canonicalised? What happens if you view the page as Google saw it? Is there any chance that you are blocking googlebot / cloaking in any way? Have you had any website outages or downtime? As others noted, your about page is now missing - did you do that deliberately to see if it resolved this issue?

  • Hi Jeroen, PageRank still exists, it's just not public. DA/PA etc are 3rd party metrics which are designed to replicate PageRank for the benefit of marketers who want a rough idea of how strong a given page or domain is. I agree about the importance of relevant links and good content though and I wrote about this extensively in this chapter of The Link Building Book if you'd like to read more. Cheers. Paddy

  • I'm not sure why you would to stare blind at PA or DA in general. It's just a calculation from some link value pointed to your domain, with no indication or link with google. You can have a PA or DA of 80 and still perform worse in Google or in Bing for that matter. The more incoming (follow) links the better your DA will grow (over time). My DA is stuck at 76, but i know it takes far more links from this point on to grow even further then when going from DA 10 to 20 or so. It's normal. And i dont really look at it anymore. What matters is organic traffic, good content and having everything as healthy as possible.

  • Hi Mark, Don't fret too much about spammy links. According to Google, they try to limit negative effects of third party sites. Spammy backlinks that bring you down usually come with a "manual action", that is a big penalty sent down from the big man Google himself. These actions are made when it appears these spammy links are deliberate, paid for, or appear to be "black hat SEO". Unless you've experienced one of these penalties, or want to pre-empt one, you don't need to disavow them. If you want to check for manual actions or would still like to disavow these links and keep track of them, use the Google Search Console.

  • Try getting links for important pages. As for google crawling and indexing: i have websites that contain 10k of URL's on which i know, half of that is not relevant for search at all. Google does it completely automaticly and cuts out the most duplicate or non-relevant pages in comparison to what i offer in my sitemap and brings 4k of pages or so in actual search. It's really no issue. You cant tell me you got 20 million of unique (user) generated content.

  • For WordPress and most websites, redirects are easy to create with a plugin so you don't need to mess with .htaccess Also, we change URLs a lot and do not see declines in keyword rankings - we often see increases because we're redirecting to an SEO-optimized folder and page name when it was generic before.

  • If the PageRank of these domains are <4/10, then this could actually help you as they are from low quality domains. If the PageRank is 4/10 or higher, then your rankings are going to drop like a rock. You can measure PageRank here: https://www.prchecker.info/check_page_rank.php - I have no affiliation with this site but find it to be a useful tool.

  • Well, first learn that PA/DA are completely apart from Google itself. Now that we got that out of the way it's good to know the following things and if they are in check: Technical site content, good structure, sitemap, fast loading, light-weight etc etc Onsite seo like unique content with text, images and perhaps a video in check Good inbound (incoming) links from various sources, prefferable with some age, authority and so on. These are the 3 things to take in mind when looking at seo of any website. Good luck!
