  • You should only use a disavow tool if you are losing traffic or got a penalty. The Disavow tool is working, but it takes time for Google to stop counting these links. As Paddy said, these links will always stay, you cannot remove them by disavowing them.

  • The redirect service is the gray area here for me. I don't know them or their services. With that parameter in play, you need the self-referring canonical. The hreflang is set up right now, but I don't know how all of this is interacting together. I'd suggest starting by addressing the hreflang with the parameters in them. Make sure those parameters are not in the hreflang tags.  Also, do you have sitemaps for both languages submitted to Google? For what it is worth, I don't see things wrong in the SERPs. You are still on the first page for 'NASA gifts' and 'meterorite gifts' in the US. What other drops are you seeing? Some adjustment is expected when making changes like this.

  • Hi Samantha, I set up a new campaign using the https:// version of the site and ran a new crawl, but I'm running into the same issue as before. Perhaps this is a bigger question of how site redirects work? I was under the impression that any large-scale redirects (such as from non-www to www or http to https across all pages) can affect crawl time/load time. Rereading your comment, it sounds like what you're saying is those redirects count as layers of crawl depth, as well. By the same token, I'm assuming any redirects (301's in particular) also add a layer of crawl depth. So, my larger question then is: how can I maximize crawl depth if my site has been redirected from http to https? Will that "extra layer" of crawling always be there as long as the redirect is in place, or is there a way to compress/expedite how the crawl happens? Thanks for your input on this!

  • There are a lot of factors that can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like the crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links, and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links

  • So there are a few points to clarify here. 1. You cannot report spam on social to GMB anymore. 2. Your Local Guide level will not impact your results, it is all about the quality of edits. (look at your ratio of applied/not applied) 3. The turnaround on sam removal is 1 -2 weeks. Anything not removed has been either missed or deemed valid. (Submit it again) 4. You can't submit spam to the GMB community, it will be removed due to privacy concerns. Check out this article I wrote on getting stellar results from spam fighting https://www.brightlocal.com/blog/how-to-use-googles-spam-redressal-form-to-level-the-local-playing-field/

  • Hi I know this question is a bit old, but there has not been any real major shakeup in the local Algo. I believe in August there was a local algo glitch but hat was fixed in a few days.
