Backlinks pointing to the B page of an A/B test.
Thanks Keri. Appreciate the offer, but I'm all set. We just 301d the page after the test was done and have decided that we'll only multivariate the home page for now. We've now had 3 major press links point to the testing version of our home page, so we've decided our best bet is just to set up all tests as multivariate so we don't create two different URLs. Thanks again.

Hey nixforsix, I'm really sorry you're seeing those local results in the Keyword Difficulty tool. There's not a way to prevent that from happening at the moment, but I'll pass the issue on to our team and we'll try to come up with a fix as soon as we can. Thanks for letting us know! Feel free to shoot over other tech support questions to help@seomoz.org. Cheers, Aaron

Will duplicate content supplied from a hotel provider damage my website, or simply just the pages that it appears on?
Hi there, Digging up an old question I was asked to respond to. In short - if you're writing unique descriptions on the indexed pages, then those are fine. The non-indexed pages don't matter in regards to duplicate content, though I'm unclear why you would need page 2 or 3 for a single hotel.

Landing Pages on main site or on separate domains?
Any links gained to the sites in strategy 2 will be shared and only benefit those sites Any links gained in strategy 1 will benefit the whole domain. A brand new site can take a while to gain decent rankings although it may have the advantage of a keyword matched domain name. Hope this helps.

IP-Based Content on Homepage?
Again, it depends on how bots see your page. If a bot is based in, say, San Francisco, are you going to feed it SF localized results? Again, a thorough site map and site index (XML) should ensure that all content is spidered

How do you believe Google's +1 service is going to affect SEO? What can we do?
I'm not sure I see the motivation for people to +1 something. For Facebook, social connection is a big motivator: people want their friends to see what they 'like'. How many people actually view other Google profiles like we do Facebook? Why would anyone use the +1 in Google? I think understanding the motivation might be a key to understanding how to leverage it better.

HTTPS attaching to home page
One does not always have the option to use a canonical. If you have the option; always go with the 301-redirect in such a scenario. If your concern is about the SERP's only you can try this bit of code in a htaccess file (if you use apache): RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} ^443$ RewriteRule ^robots.txt$ robotsssl.txt Then add this code to your robotsssl.txt User-agent: * Disallow: / Have a good day! Landing Page Conversion Rates
Then I suppose what the query was that brought them to that landing page. If someone searches for "replace my windows" or "I need new windows" and ends up on a page offering a free consultation (and assuming the company looks credible, etc) then I can imagine a pretty high conversion rate. 15% seems believable. Maybe even higher if it's just email address in exchange for product info for products related to the initial query. But again, no one is going to share this kind of data because if it's really good it will attract new competitors and no one wants to invite competition...

Recent changes to suggested search algorithm?
I saw discussion about this on Twitter last night. Justin from Distilled wrote a post that Google is now blocking "scam" in suggested search and instant search. Look through the comments, as some people are still seeing scam, and there are still other terms to look for, such as complaints, pyramid, etc. http://www.distilled.co.uk/blog/seo/google-blocking-scam-keyword-in-autocomplete/

Is it possible that since the Google Farmer's Update, that people practicing Google Bowling can negatively affect your site?
In sifting through these two sites, I have also discovered one other thing. I checked their ISP neighborhoods and looked at shared domains to see how they were indexing. So far, almost all sites in the same neighborhood are not indexing. Could a bad ISP neighborhood by default bring your domain down?

Will Linking To "Offical Sites" Increase My SEO?
My rule of thumb is anything visible and on page should be optimised for the users experience. If it's going to help them consolidate the knowledge that they've just got from your site then it is beneficial. It will not help you in climbing the SERPS, as link juice and other metrics does not pass backwards in a link.

Does putting content in tabs devalue it at all?
My concern with this video is that he says to make sure it is not pages and pages of content. Granted, not all of these guides are going to be super long and this will probably be one of the longest, but the first complete guide is just over 1000 words.

Product ratings causing 302 redirect problem
Ok so I am trying to figure out the best way to add 50,000 links to the robots.txt file and future proof it so we dont have to keep adding manually to the file whenever a new product is added. I am not all that familar with x-cart. Here is how the urls i want to block are formated... website.com/store/product.php?mode=add_vote&productid=XXXXXX&vote=100" Would adding "Disallow: /product.php" work? Or should I "Disallow: /product.php?mode=add_vote&productid" <---will that work? Would this have any consequences I am not thinking of?
