New ways to get links (excluding on site link bait)?
Thanks for your answers Daniel & Andy But realistically isn’t it very time consuming to build quality relationships with each blog we would like to get a link from? That almost sounds like a full time job to itself. Would you say that 4-5 long time relationships with quality blogs is better that a one off “blogger competition” campaign with 50 new backdomain links.? Thanks for your time guys

Why sudden change in rankings?
I did slack off the link pace, waiting to see what would happen when it was digested but thought itmight stay up there as the phrase I'm competing for is quite niche oriented.

Linkbuilding URL Problem
I am not a developer, but I would say that if you are planning on anyone hitting your homepage to be forwarded, then this should be a perm redirect 301. Google understands these. Regards, Andy

What can be blocking the link juice?
You can't rely on SEOMoz and Majestic to give you Google data as these two use their own crawling. My warmest recommendation would be to gain access to GWT and learn about what Google knows about your links.

Local Keyword vs Business Name in URL
It probably would have been faster to link to this: http://www.seobook.com/googles-matt-cutts-talks-down-keyword-domain-names than tell me to research it, but whatever. I'll link to it for the benefit of others. Thank you for your input, I will take it under advisement and continue to look into this before I speak to my client. watch?v=rAWFv43qubI

Website Ranking Issue
Hi My tip would be to optimise the alt tag on your 'Simple ID' logo and file directory name (no more than two hyphens to be on the safe side) and the same for your flash image = turn into a slide show and optimise the alt tags & directory names. Keep them natural. and compare you and your competitiors inbound links.

Major Slipping of highly important keywords in a few days
A great test on those paid links would be to change the directory listings to point to another website or domain that you own which has been ranking pretty steadily over the past few weeks. If you see a decrease in organic rankings on that site as well, then you'll know for sure that the paid directories were the problem. If the directory listing was cheap, then it might not be worth your time - you'll need to weigh the pros and cons.
