  • Not sure on get satisfaction but based on what you are trying to do I would recommend creating social platforms for your company. Start with a blog, add a facebook page and add a twitterfeed for starters. This creates connections and interaction between your company and customers.

  • I did try that. Not sure why it isn't working but I think it has something to do with Tom's answer below. Heh. Thanks though Daniel!!

  • Daniel and Tom- Thanks a million! I'll take your advice and use the cross url rel canonical element. I wasn't sure if it would work- but based on your input I did some searches and found Google's response to Matt Cutts original statement about not working across urls- and it looks like Google decided to support it, just as you said. Here is the link I tracked down: Google Webmaster Blog- Rel Canonical across domains Thanks again guys!

  • I need to disagree with Alex.  If you examine the impact the Google Panda/Farmer update had, you'll see that sites like Squidoo and HubPages took major hits and lost significant ranking.  Why? Because so much content on those sites was considered low quality or of insignificant value to Google.  So why would you want to go after links from such places? If you've got a team of people working on a multitude of inbound link efforts, it might be a different story, but if you're not relying on a team of people to do the work, I would suggest your time is much more valuable than focusing on what are now low quality / questionable links.  Especially when we're now talking about what Alex suggests in "spinning" the articles.  To get spinning right, you really need to know what you're doing otherwise you are more likely to cause harm than do good. It's much better to consider finding places to write UNIQUE articles you can get posted to high quality sites - guest blogging.   Sites like MyBlogGuest.com can get you started along that path.  Getting just one guest article that has one or two links pointing to the appropriate most relevant page on your site, where the article is posted to a site where your target market visits, can be worth dozens or hundreds of spun articles spit out to places like Squidoo or Hubpages.

  • Usually you won't need the plural form. As for your main question, I agree with previous responders: Option #2!

  • There is a theory to that effect, but I've never seen any evidence that it is true.

  • Yes, it sounds like Google has indexed both copies, so that would be duplicate content.

  • For one, I find it highly unlikely that any of these big players would ever publicly release anything related to that information. So I doubt there is much along the lines of conversion rates for sites you mentioned. However, big sites like those, especially overstock, aren't worth looking at anyway. They sell products that range from less than $10 to over $1,000. Conversion rate is heavily influenced by price. A site that only sells pool tables will be lucky to get conversion rates above 1%. A site that sells T-shirts for $3 is likely to get north of 10% conversion rate. So even if we knew a sitewide average conversion rate, it wouldn't tell us much as some product pages could be much higher and some could be much lower.

  • Some stuff I look for in a quality link: Pagerank/MozRank Other links on page - are there any pill/viagra or gambling/porn links?  Anything else fishy?  Skip it if so.  Are there more than 50-100 outbound links on the page?  That's a lot. Google cache date - has it been cached within the last couple of weeks?  The more recent the better. Is the site relevant to your niche?  What about the domain?  Does it look like a dropped site?  If so skip it. How easy is it to get a link?  Do they automatically take reciprocals? And like Adam said, how is the content? All of these factors can help, but really it also comes down to your gut feeling.

  • Thanx for the great answere, so the best is probably to leave it as it is. I just found it out because Screaming Frog runs into a loop, because it follows 302s. So i just put this url string which guides into the 302 into the robots.txt while i scan with seo frog and turn it off afterwards again. thanx!
