Syndicating With Blogs
If your goal is to "get a message out" then you want to syndicate that message to every website that will post it. However, if your goal is to "advance your own website" then syndication of verbatim articles will place your content on other websites. That will give those websites an opportunity to rank above you for your own keywords. It can also get your website filtered from the search results or considered as "low quality" by the search engines. Also, the links that you get from syndication are often removed by the website owner or nofollowed. And, many of these websites really don't have links that will provide any useful ranking power - because they have no viable links of their own.

On-Page Report Card, rel canonical
Thanks Ryan. So apparently it is OK to have relative links, as long as they are done correctly. My developers insist that they HAVE done them correctly, but SEOmoz flags it anyway because for all it knows, the base link may not have been set to the right location. I'm going to see if I can get the URLs changed to absolute.

Parasite Hosting
What you are essentially talking about is creating offsite gateway pages. Gateway pages are definitely considered spam when done for the sole purpose of link building and ranking. Squidoo is not a bad site and we have many pages (lens) on squidoo and the pages have unique content. It is a good place to market your content and build personal authority. If your squidoo lens is high authority and have ton of links to it then a link from that particular page to your website will carry some link juice. However, the goal should be to create good quality lens to help users. It is also important to note that Google latest panda update has impacted the traffic and ranking of content farms and low quality content sites like hub pages, ehow, ezine article. It is quiet possible that squidoo has lost traffic as well because there are tons of lens that are low quality and were build for the sole purpose of link building. Best Sameer

Are tables OK in e-commerce sites?
If you're redesigning your site, why not switch to using DIVs? As far as I've read, there's no direct "penalty" for using tables, but tables to generally involve much more code to accomplish what DIV tags and CSS could do in much less code, which means your pages will load faster, which is something google takes into consideration when ranking. Not to mention that CSS layouts are much easier to customize, and can give your site a much cleaner and newer look. Chances are if you're seeing other ecommerce sites using tables they are simply using outdated shopping carts, but if you're going to take the time to redesign your site, why not do it the future-proof way using CSS?

Unanswered Questions
Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone! We're aware that there are old questions that tend to linger, and we're working on some solutions. Dunamis, why wouldn't an email work for you? I had thought an email might be one of the more effective ways of letting people know there had been answers to their questions, so I'd like to hear why it wouldn't work for some people. Some of the people who asked questions were in a trial membership, and are now basic members, so they can't mark something as answered. I am either marking those as answered, or a discussion question. I'm also leaving notes on questions asking people if this has answered their question, but not everyone is subscribed to their own questions by email, especially on the older questions. When Q&A first launched, it wasn't as active, so my hypothesis is that people didn't get a response right away and didn't sign up for email notifications, then just stopped checking for answers.

Breadcrumb links
I would not say they are more valued than any other kind of link but they do provide some distinct benefits and opportunities. when people land on the page from a web search, it provides a simple tool and a convention no less for anchoring yourself within the hierarchy of the site and navigating back a level depending on the source ordering it can often be the first link to the parent pages so can be used for keyword rich anchor text (where natural to do so) it can be some of the first text on the page so it provides a natural way to get your keywords (product name etc) at the beginning of the page which can also help Generally it is a good way to get your keywords on the page again without having to worry about working them into the body text in a natural way (which is not always possible) So, in summary, they are good for users, good for SEO (internal linking, keywords, relevancy) and they can help improve the format of your listing in the SERPs so... what's not to like? Hope it helps! Marcus
