Maps Listing Decrease End of Aug/Beginning of September
Hi Joy, Thanks so much for your response! I had seen that article, but wasn't entire sure if what I was seeing in the results were directly correlated to the Hawk update. I've attached a screenshot of the Maps rankings changes I was seeing in my ranking checker. Unfortunately, I didn't take screenshots of the live Maps results before, so it's tough to pinpoint with certainty. I am seeing two separate businesses, each with two locations, now showing up twice in the top 10, so that could definitely be related to the update. However, since I don't have screenshots of the live Maps SERPs, it's difficult to say for sure if that's what was causing our drop in the rankings, which is why I wanted to reach out and see if anyone else is noticing any other factor[s] that we may be overlooking. Thank you again for your feedback! It could very well be related to the Hawk update! wMEYA

Local Listing Submissions: Best Bang for Your Buck
Hey There Capsquare! Joy's suggestion of Whitespark might be a good one. They're a very fine company. However, if you've got 30 locations, and let's say you want to submit them to 7 basic places (Google, Bing, Acxiom, Localeze, Infogroup, Factual and YP), at $4 a citation, I'm getting an $840 price tag, so that's not really within your client's budget. And, it doesn't include finding and permanently closing duplicate listings (which, with 30 locations, it's a good bet they've got), remedying existing listings with misinformation, and ongoing monitoring (pretty essential for a good-sized enterprise like your client's). And, of course, 4 hours of your time isn't going to cover citation development/management. So, your client is pretty much putting you in a rather difficult position, because their expectations aren't commensurate with the requirements for managing their business online. I've been in your shoes, Capsquare, trying to find the right way to educate owners as to the importance of investing reasonably in location data management. It's a necessary investment, and given how search outperforms so many other mediums as a driver of traffic/transactions, it's a smart investment. A single component of citations - reviews - can truly blow away other forms of traditional marketing investments. In fact, I'd suggest you show this recent GetFiveStars post to the client, to give them a sense of why revising their budget to stretch to citation management could result in greater profits for them: https://www.getfivestars.com/blog/google-as-the-new-home-page/ But, I know ... sometimes clients don't get this, despite statistics. It's always worth a try, though.

Googles Search Intent – Plural & Singular KW’s
Google wants us to believe they are presenting results based on intent and not keywords. In adwords google doesn´t even let us target singulars and plurals directly anymore and keyword search data is presented equal for both. In practice i see however that a lot is still based on keywords, your example is one of them. I think both have a similiar, if not same intent, so creating seperate pages doesn´t make sense in my opinion, we usually try to use these variations in the page content as some pages are able to rank for both.

What are the best LinkedIn Automation tools around?
I know this is an old question and the solutions have changed since. May I introduce you to my favorite tool RecurPost? With its recurring schedules it is an alternative to Buffer. If you want categorized updates and schedule for the entire category then this is even a recommended solution by Buffer.

Site Migration Question
You helped validate my thoughts. Yeah, the reason I am taking this so seriously is because we are taking so much time to map out the old domain and the pages to their corresponding new pages, that I don't want something like this to ruin it. The client ended up saying that they don't mind reprinting a handful of business cards to reflect the old domain and then use the new cards when the new site is up. Either way, I think both options are doable. Thanks mememax! Appreciate it.

What Is The Best Strategy For Writing Image Alt Text For SEO?
Hi, I'll give you an idea how I approach this. If there is an image of red shoes, I describe as accurate as I can: 'red high-heels suede shoes with a bow on the top' (I'm being creative!). There is no harm in adding the brand if the shoes are this brand or if you want these shoes to be shown under Images when searching for your brand. So always be descriptive and feel free to add the brand if it makes sense. Hope this helps. Katarina

I am a beginner in Structure Data Markup and I want to know if I did it well
Hi Leebi, As you probably noticed by running the Schema.org snippet in the Structured Data Testing Tool is that the code doesn't verify. You're currently using an array for the sameAs property. But you can't use a @type SocialMediaPosting in there. Basically what it's expecting is an array of strings with the values of your sameAs properties. If you would change that it would likely verify. Martijn.

Should blogger award badges/links be nofollowed?
I still remember the old videos from Matt Cutts about widgets marketing. The issue is that many people have overused that strategy to squeeze over optimized anchor texts behind the widget, so many people ended up having a link pointing to a site without any editorial willingness to do this. Matt Cutts wasn't against widgets per se but against the lack of a clear user intent to link to a site. Widgets and badges can still be used if used right. Have a look at TRIP which is still very highly widgets oriented. If you create the article and offer a badge to embed on the food bloggers websites with a link back to the article I think it will be fine, as the badge should say something like TOP 2017 food blogger as mentioned on domain.com, check it out! and the link will point to the article where you're featuring them. I think it's natural and useful as it clearly states what's the purpose of the badge. A different thing would be if you try to squeeze multiple links or if you try to send users to another page of your website to try to boost it's rankings. Do things correctly and no issues will arise.

Can 'follow' rather than 'nofollow' links be damaging partner's SEO
They are just trying to follow "best practices", but you're one "dollow" link to their website is not hurting their SEO. Either your link is actually helping them a little bit, or it is being ignored by Google and has no factor in their rankings.

Moz crawler is not able to crawl my website
Hi there! Tawny from Moz's Help Team here! I think I can help you figure out what's going on with your robots.txt file. First things first: we're not starting at the robots.txt URL you list. Our crawler always starts from your Campaign URL and goes from there, and it can't start at an HTTPS URL, so it starts at the HTTP version and crawls from there. So, the robots.txt file we're having trouble accessing is khadination.shop/robots.txt. I ran a couple of tests, and it looks like this robots.txt file might be inaccessible from AWS (Amazon Web Services). When I tried to curl your robots.txt file from AWS I got a 302 temporary redirect error (https://www.screencast.com/t/jy4MkDZQNbQ), and when I ran it through hurl.it, which also runs on AWS, it returned an internal server error (https://www.screencast.com/t/mawknIyaMn). One more thing — it looks like you have a wildcard character ( * ) for the user-agent as the first line in this robots.txt file. Best practices indicate that you should put all your specific user-agent disallow commands before a wildcard user-agent; otherwise those specific crawlers will stop reading your robots.txt file after the wildcard user-agent line, since they'll assume that those rules apply to them. I think if you fix up those things, we should be able to access your robots.txt and crawl your site! If you still have questions or run into more trouble, shoot us a note at help@moz.com and we'll do everything we can to help you sort everything out.

Should I target two pages for the same keyword, but two different intents?
It might be more than double. Just to give you an example of one of my keywords, "Whiteboard animation" Some are searching for it to learn how to actually make a whiteboard animation. Some are searching for it because they want to hire a company to make whiteboard animation. Some are searching for it because they want to see whiteboard animation videos, either for the sake of entertainment or to get inspiration to make a video of their own. Really, there could be many intents. I will certainly make sure that one page is linked to the other, thanks.
