Hi Colocation, I agree with James; if you are looking fore your videos to be found on your website instead of youtube; I would host them directly on the website. If right now your videos are being found on youtube only, for the mean time, put your website information on the videos description, on the video itself before the video starts and create a channel that has a link to your website. Hey Kevin Just hit the help button and it will explain a notice to you. Basically it is just info about your site and due to the canonical tag having a massive effect on a site it is worth paying attention to. For example if you were working on a new client and it reported each page had a canonical tag then you would want to check they were correct. Hope that helps

I agree with dvtruong and Erica; doing guest posts on relevant sites is a good way to get links. It seems as if your competitors are doing a little black hat, which is never good and Google will catch up with them.

I created a script and database that I use a regex lookup for the product id from old URIs and it will give me the new URI for that product, the script then sends a 301 with the new URL.  There are about 11,000 entries in the database.  Add to that the pages that don't have an exact match (such as extra product info pages and extra product review pages)...those are sent to the new product page since it is the closest match.  That means I probably have 301s serving for 20,000+ pages.

I was caught up in the wording. OSE lists the number of internal and external links for a website. But you also have to factor in where they are linking to. Links to spam sites is not a site you want to be associated with.

In my experience links on highly trusted sites are more valuable than links on low quality sites. I wouldn't stress too much about the number of outbound links on a page. An authoritative and editorial link on harvard.edu would be more valuable with 100 other OBL than a link on a lower trust site/page with only 10 obl. Of course this is only my opinion, many people disagree with me.

Like Daniel suggests I wouldn't use this as a long term strategy, to me it would send a pretty strong signal that the site is spammy. On the other hand, if you are comfortable with it, you could always give it a test and see what CTR difference you get.

Thanks! All good answers. We have started by taking the complementary videos off the article pages to see if it is diluting our results. We're a small team so things take time but this is a good start.

If pages are not been indexed you can try and add the urls to Digg.com or Stumble Upon for example. It has worked for me in the past As said above it could also be other reasons for not been added to the index, no content? robots block? Server issues? Dormant pages not internal linked to?

A very late reply, but just in case anybody else has the same question.... I've been using Tribulants shopping cart. Once you get the kinks worked out it's good. I included SEO tips in my review. The short version is that it is a well featured cart and it's very cheap.

All of a sudden this company is no longer ranking for their main keywords... Could multiple logs used for keywords and content harm a ranking or be considered cheating to google? or did they do something else to get punished?

Whatever you do don't memorize the content in your efforts to alter it in each variatio. Leave your desk/laptop and have a cup of coffee/tea. Write down the content in your own words. That doen't always work for me, but I am able to get good variations when it does. Another thing I rarely do, but find amusing is I getting a cup of coffee and going where my colleagues go for a smoke. While eavesdropping on their conversation, I try to replace the subject of their discussion with the subject the page I'm stuck on. It is often bizarre but I get a few good expressions and synonyms.
