Do links count if they have no href parameter?
Taken from http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/on-page-keyword-optimization Avoid Excessive External Links <dl> <dt>Explanation</dt> <dd>Linking externally is generally a good thing, but as with many optimization tactics in SEO, moderation is the best path. Employing a high number of followed external links may prevent the engines from passing much value through any given link and can also trigger potential issues of spam/manipulation (particularly if those links are not pointing to high quality/trustworthy sites).</dd> <dd> Avoid Excessive Internal Links <dl> <dt>Explanation</dt> <dd>Employing an excessive quantity of internal-pointing links may not directly harm the value of a page, but it can influence the quanity of link juice sent through those links and dilute it's ability to help get link targets crawled, indexed and ranked.</dd> <dt>Recommendation</dt> <dd>Scale down the number of internal links to fewer than 100 (preferrably), and, at a minimum, fewer than 300</dd> </dl> </dd> </dl>

Rel= Author : Google suggests that we include this. Can i link to my FB profile
REL = Author does not work that way. My understanding of the process is as follows: 1. An author sets up their Google profile 2. The author creates a link from their Google profile to their profile / about page on your site. 3. The author also creates a link from their profile / about page on your site back to their Google profile. By establishing this two-way link between their Google profile and their profile page on your site, they have verified their identity and control over the page's content. This link then allows any content created by the author ON YOUR SITE to be linked with the REL = Author idea. It would not impact content created on any other site. Official REL = Author Google page

New website :301 redirection of a established domain
Hmm, it's not a simple matter of just buying up domains and you have to consider a bunch of things: are the links to this site relevant to the new site (branded links etc) is the old site a safe bet? Has it got penalties etc if the site is valuable, why is it for sale? I remembered this article from ages ago but it pretty much hits the nail on the head: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/buying-expired-domains-whats-the-best-strategy Also, are you going to pick apart the old site and do specific redirects to relevant content on the new site or are you just going to funnel everything into the homepage with a catch all redirect rule? Again, if the other site was relevant and you could distribute the juice out to relevant places it would likely herald better results. I guess the best tip here is to buy a site that is relevant and to not expect miracles! Also, make sure this is done as a complimentary strategy to other promotion and not as a sole approach. Hope it helps Marcus

Does it matter what text you wrap in an H1 tag?
The same H1 rule goes for all other headers. Headers are headers, mixing them in with the text content isn't very helpful in a user perspective. A quick tip is to try to add questions to the h2 to keep the text SEO and user friendly. So let's rephrase this into a h2 question: Interested in commercial landscaping design? We're the ones to call! Call us at 1-866-236-7263 or contact us by email. Hope I could help Best, Gustav

How do I get rid of all the 404 errors in google webmaster tools after building a new website under the same domiain
Gotcha, well depending on the crawl rate (PR/Update Frequency, etc.) and number of pages, Googlebot should be back to check it out, more than a month and I would start to wonder about other issues. But, hey, as Matt said above, if you can gain something from keeping those pages, 301 them to an equivilant page on the new site. If you know that thosee pages were low value or had no links (except internal ones), you could go the Remove URL route. Brian

Is SEOMoz better than Traffic Travis ?
Its a travesty to compare moz with small software like Travis . Moz has Backlink checker with world known metrics PA(Page Authority) ,DA (Domain authority). Web based power which is highly greater than the software one. Rank checker and so many tools that Travis cannot even imagine. Now let's see what traffic Travis can work for one-time payment and few number of tools. Way way cheaper then monthly subscription and not even $ 97 as you said but it's available for around $ 37 on some coupon sites like http://www.discountmycart.com/ so it is quite funny to compare both! travesty

Is blogging enough to keep my site fresh?
I would also recommend you to be active in social media like Facebook and Twitter. The social activity is positive in many ways, 1. Creates a buzz around your business, gives Google positive signals about popularity. 2. You will spread your information to friends, customers and others in your industry, it will help you build the brand.

Has anyone notice their website page rankings in Bing and Yahoo slipping lately?
I have had the exact opposite...I rank higher in google than Bing/yahoo... infact i created a dummy site with low quality links seattle-housepainting.com and it ranks in Yahoo and is not on the map for google. I am still trying to make heads and tails of the diff.

Does Google follow links in "id" tag?
Hi Dylan, All evidence is that if the URL is not wrapped in an <a href="">tag, then it won't be crawled.</a> <a href=""></a> <a href="">Matt Cutts has discussed this and not surprisingly suggested that it would not be a good thing if these URL's were crawlable. If that happened it would be open slather on adding your link to any user generated content such as forums, comments etc. You can view the video here</a> Will Google use non-link references? There is a post from SEOmofo that suggests in certain circumstances, google may accidentally make links crawlable if it strips out <text area="">code, but once again, the URL's in his demonstration are actually wrapped in the a href tag. You can find the post here</text> So, as far as I am aware, there is no evidence that URL's wrapped in a SPAN tag would be crawled - but as you will see, Matt emphasises that Google doesn't like to ever take anything "off the table". Hope that helps, Sha

Searching for Quality "Follow" Back Links
Thanks Matthew for the well thought out response. That's the kind of direction that I need and is greatly appreciated. You're correct, I'm at that awkward experience level where I'm forced to do too much copying of others rather than original creative thought. Just going through this painful exercise is opening my mind to a number of new possibilities.

Can SEOMOZ do Local SEO ?
Yes, Google allows you to change location but it seems like the search results are still different, probably because Google uses your IP address as a variable. I use a VPN provider which has 50+ servers around the world and use their VPN servers as proxies.

Link Acquisition Assistant
I'm not sure how your site is setup, but from a coding perspective you just change the text in the text here tags. I would definitely use something more keyword specific for your H1 tags, you can then put other less important titles in H2 or H3 tags. You can always have 2 H1 tags each targeting the different brand/keyword.

Local SEO - our company is in 2 very different locations
Ryan, Great progress on this. Thanks. Will taking "California" out of the title tag change the local traffic at all? Some of our strongest terms we're ranking for on the home page include the word "California". You already said it should be fine, but could you tell me a little more about how it works so that I can be more knowledgable here. Just so that you know, we have sitelinks for "NLP California". I attached a photo. sitelinks.jpg
