Hey WanderingBird, I'll start by saying the following is broad so take it with some salt as I don't fully know your status. Not all links are created equal. it somewhat comes back to which is better, 100 DA1 links or 1 DA100 link? Is there a possibility that the competitor has hight quality link more than the quantity? There is also a somewhat of a saturation point I find with DA, not to mention DA is not used by Google so try not to get too hooked up on it if you're still performing well, it doesn't take into account things like the quality of the content on your site etc. You can also check-in link explorer and sort by 'new' to see what is being picked up and see if it matched with either internal records or Search engine console, that would help you Id if its an issue with Moz. You will find that 'newer' content and its a lot quicker to climb from e.g. 0 - 20 DA than it is to go from 20-40 etc. If you really want a fun afternoon you can compare their links and your own but don't get too stuck looking at them as its better to lead than to follow. Don't get diss-heartened keep up the work, its a marathon and not a sprint. You can always try to think outside the box on the content you could create that might appeal outside your niche whilst benefiting it and you open a whole other can of worms! sorry I couldn't give you a direct answer there are a lot of variables so the above is broad ideas of what it may be but without really digging around its hard to guess. If you really have to know why they're ranking differently I'd suggest looking at what is linking to them compared to you. Hope you find something helpful in the above. Good luck!

Howdy Salman, Generally yes, by ranking up long tail you'll find you rank for other terms. So you might find the creation of a sub-niche of (e.g.) best over-ear headphones 2021 helps rank for your above term though there are never any guarantees. Try to think of what a user might be looking for, e.g. comparisons review technical breakdowns and even videos of use. You are never really targeting one term, every term will always have users get to you by terms you might not that thought of. Try to think of what users might want to look at more than the single term, Google shows results for users, target them and not the term. Longtail terms are always what you want as that is at a point in the conversion funnel users are looking to buy, tricky to find though and as you noticed - low volume but its good intent-based volume. We have the same issue for our one of our client. Recently, we did changes in their on-page SEO to rank one of the keywords "accounting services singapore." We set an optimised title & meta description. The title was approved by our clients. 2 days ago they checked their website status on Google SERP and noticed the home page title & meta description were not the same. Hi there! One recommendation I'd have right off the bat is using the (free) MozBar to take a look at the inbound links pointing to the website. If this website is in "bad link neighborhoods" it would be helpful to get rid of  any backlinks from spammy sources. Have you taken this step? Best, Zack

Please unblock 3rd Party Cookies, or allow [*.]moz.com in your Cookie settings. Learn more" Click the cog icon Click Login in the bottom right Login to Moz If the bar hasn't logged you in yet, click the now available login in the MozBar. Hope this helps! Best, Zack
