I agree with Anthony, it's not a problem - the user would just copy and paste the URL in. I think this can cause an issue on Windows servers since they would return the same page for Double-Beds-Luxury and double-beds-luxury (like Amazon does). Since Google interprets characters literally, accidentally linking to the wrong page can make it appear like you have dupe content - Google usually figures this out but it's thought it can dilute your link juice to that page. But you've mentioned that the page 404s if you lower the case which is good, I guess the site's on a linux server. I don't think here's nothing to worry about at all with leaving the caps as they are.

If you delete or archive, then you do free up another space for an active campaign.

If you are using SEO by Yoast to create your site map there are settings under the SEO -- XML Sitemap. --  then choices on what to exclude.  I would try exclude some of these. If that is the case and you make the change in Yoast, check your robots.txt file to see if the change in reflected there also. If you check some other websites robots.txt file you can get an idea of how it should be set up.

Chris, it's funny you should mention this: "...site owners probably feel violated and that you essentially got what was coming to you." The most recent response I had from a site owner was exactly this. The email stated the link had not appeared there by chance, it had been placed free of charge by either my client, or someone acting on their behalf. Which is true, unfortunately. I would suggest you implement the plugin SEO by Yoast and then follow all the configuration steps. It will help you solve all your permalink options while providing information on which will be the best option. Hope that helps!

Thanks Peter When we launched we wanted to present content first & then "buy" later so your comments support this, although there is a temptation of course to stray from this in order  to build traffic quicker! We have moved from about page 9 to page 2 & 3 of some of our key words and rising weekly, i just need to keep telling myself we have only been live 3 months! I was speaking in terms of the pictures in your portfolio on your site not the blog, as I assumed those were the images you were talking about.  Was I incorrect?

Hi Amanda You could just change your single pattern matched 301 to point all links to your old site to the home page of the new site. That way at least someone who clicks on a link to your old site will find the new site. Also without a 301 for all the links on your old site those old URLs are going to sit around in the indexes of search engines for a long time. Peter

1) why would so many companies like Hubspot, others require email for content exchange if putting on site would do as well? Here are two answers: A) they want to spam you with email and sell your email to everyone on the planet; B) the value of a sale is enormous, so they would rather have a sale than the ad clicks Does the type of industry: B-B, vs B-C make a difference in how you would approach or is your answer blanket for all types B-B,B-C? Publishing for everyone makes more sense for the B-C business because the number of potential visitors is enormous compared to the B-B. If we go the route of publishing to site (not pdf)  does it make a difference whether a 12 page ebook is one long scrolling page or should the content be 'click to read more' which advances to another possibly optimized page?  If multiple pages then each page would likely be optimizing for pretty much the same content? I put a few thousand words on a page but if you have more then I would break it into separate pages.  I would break the ebook into chapters or lessons each targeting a different keyword. Has there been any correlation between top step (main menu) and 2, 3, 4 steps below the main navigation on relevance (with same content) in rankings? Yes.  The deeper you bury the content in your navigation the deeper it will rank in the SERPs.   If you want to promote this for traffic, income, links, tweets, signups,  I would think that you would be showing it to every person who visits your website.  That's what I do when I have something hot, valuable and important.  If you fail to do that you lose the opportunity.

If a client is employing me to remove poorest backlinks identified at audit stage, I usually make 3/4 approaches to webmasters first, and see how that goes - and usually manage to take down the majority of spammy backlinks that way.

Thanks Peter! Much appreciated for opening the ticket. I just tried logging in now, and it happened again. So hopefully Moz fix the issue. Clearning cookies browser wide isn't an acceptable fix for me as I then lose my Google two-authentication cookies which is a pain.

I would suggest to put your resources, content and efforts on the main site, so that it becomes an authority in this domain of bins in general, because not all people now the differences that you as an insider knows. so if i search for bins then i would find all the resources in one place, and google will eventually see that there is a lot of resources in one place regarding this subject matter, and the people who want to link to your site naturally will find that your site has real authority in this domain. concentrated efforts will always win over diluted efforts.

Hey Veronica, Thanks for the question. I took a look at your campaign and think I see where the confusion about the date comes from. When you look at your Moz Analytics dashboard, it's a weekly display. In your case the week of Oct 21-27. You will see this update with new metrics for the week of Oct 28-Nov 3 today.
