What is the point of having images clickable loading to their own page?
I could see linking to an image file itself as useful if the image were larger and you wanted to display it outside of a paragraph of text. Many infographics could qualify for a page of their own. The site would still benefit from traffic and from authority.

Tracking Numbers and Local Listings
Good Evening! The core problem with call tracking numbers is that they create data inconsistencies across the local search ecosystem which can result in a loss of trust on Google's part, a loss of rankings in the local search results and confusion on the part of customers. Google wants each local business to have a business name, address and local area code phone number (NAP) that is published with absolute consistency across the web. Call tracking numbers can completely mess up this consistency and are normally considered taboo in Local. Here are some good articles for you to read that talk intelligently about what you should and shouldn't do with call tracking numbers: http://blumenthals.com/blog/2013/05/14/a-guide-to-call-tracking-and-local/ http://localu.org/blog/truth-about-seo-call-tracking/ Stick by the advice these two authors provide and you should be in the clear. Hope this helps!

Best way to implement canonical tags on an ecommerce site with many filter options?
This is generally an exception Google supports - for example, they say that you can use rel=prev/next and rel=canonical in conjunction, where one handles pagination and the other handles sorts/filters. In the case of a sort (like ascending/descending) the actual results could be very different, but the intent is still legitimate. They generally understand you're trying to clean up these pages. In a perfect world, these filters wouldn't create unique URLs, honestly, but now that they already exist, you have to manage them. The other option would just be to META NOINDEX those filter URLs or set them up in parameter handling in Google Webmaster Tools. I tend to prefer the canonical here, personally.

Open Site Explorer
As Frederico says, Open Site Explorer uses the Mozscape link index which only crawls a portion of the internet. On the front page of Open Site Explorer you'll see some stats about the index: 106 Billion URLs, 150 Million Root domains, 764 Billion Links. While this sounds like a lot - it's nowhere near every link and every domain on the internet! I believe Raven uses MajecticSEO's link index which may (or may not) index the sites that link to your site hence the disparity between the two.

Google Adword Keyword Planner
Hi, many thanks for your response. Yes I am sure I selected the exact match option before. However, is there away to select Borad Match in the new Keyword Planner to see if this displays similar levels of traffic to that I received earlier, in order to double check.

Can I canonical the same page?
The term "canonical" comes from maths. It means "the standard form to present something in". So, if you have two or more things that are very similar or identical then you might want to say "this is the canonical version - the standard thing we will refer to". For example, if your CMS is a bit old-school and creates two versions of a page - one human-friendly like example.com/blog-post and another horrible one like example.com?id=12397863294862395 - then you want to point search engines to the nice one and say "this is the standard, canonical version - refer to that one". So in this case you should definitely use on example.com?id=1239786329486239 to give search engines that instruction. If you also add this to example.com/blog-post then that's fine - all you are saying is "this is the standard version of this page" which is perfectly valid. But from your question, this doesn't sound like your plan. Correct me if I'm wrong, but your plan sounds like you will tell the search engines something along the lines of "you see that blog post there, and that one there, and that one there, and that one over there? They're actually all the same thing, and the standard, canonical page you should refer to is this category page". That wouldn't be a good idea, because all of those articles are different things. So, I wouldn't add a hard-coded canonical URL into your template. Instead - as long as your CMS allows it - add the canonical tag to the of each article and link to the search engine friendly version of each blog post.

Google+ for photographers
Best thing you can do to get P-interst over there is to join in. Too often we share our stuff, pin our stuff, and run away. Try this and try it honestly: Go to Pinterest and search for interesting things. Instead of pinning, leave comments on everything you think is unique, cool, fun, interesting, or beautiful. Leave genuine, 10 word+ comments and do this for about an 30-60 mins a day for two weeks straight. Follow more users and repin some of your favorite stuff onto a board called Inspiration from Others At the end of two weeks, if your own repins aren't up, try something else. lol But they will be - in which case: lather, rinse & repeat.

Is it OK to choose a Domain Name with Brand-name followed by keyword?
Thank you for helping me in this. I now have the clarity in making the right recommendation to my client. However we are now left with 2 options: Create unique design/Content for the new brandnamebianalytics.com and work on optimization from scratch. Redirect brandnamebianalytics.com to brandname.co.in or vice versa. The reason we've considered this option is because brandname.co.in is rich in content and drawing around 3000 visitors traffic per month and we cannot afford to lose the reputation the (co.in) site has earned till date. I appreciate the time you've taken in replying to my query and I look forward to your thoughts/recommendations in the above mentioned issue.

Rel_Canonical
Which one is the third/new one? Your canonical tag looks fine. You are sending a bit of a mixed signal by linking your logo to "/index.html" - I'd strongly recommend changing that to just "/" and directing it to the root URL. Google doesn't always handle mixed signals well, and internal links are strong signals.

A Not Linked Page Question
The two previous answers on this question have it right, I believe. There's no harm in leaving the page available for Google to crawl and decide whether it wants to index/rank it or not. If it's something that has been outranking another page of yours unintentionally you can noindex it, nofollow links to it, request its removal from the index and throw the relative URL into your robots.txt. Pretty extreme if you ask me but if it's somehow ranking above a desired page that would be my move. But to answer your question: no a single page in the index that isn't particularly useful isn't a problem. Sites have privacy policies, about pages, and other non-essential resources all the time and Google knows this. No big deal. If you had hundreds of useless pages on your site that you didn't want indexed I'd recommend noindexing the lot of them. But sounds like we're talking about a single page. It won't ultimately hurt or help you to do any of the above unless, as I said the page is causing you issues in other ways (though it probably isnt). Hope that helps. Jacob @ Distilled

Website Redesign / Switching CMS / .aspx and .html extensions question
Hello Jeff, Thanks for your response as well! Like you said, I think we have to customize some things in our CMS system (Composite C1). I found some very helpfull documents which will help us with this. With a few tweaks I hope we can leave everything the same during the migration and change things later in small steps. Thanks a lot Jeff, Regards, Jorg
