Website Migration and SEO
Thanks Jeff! Your response was very helpful. It is true that the old domain contained a competitive keyterm which was lost in the migration. The competition is also higher for that space so this explains why we took a hit in PageRank. I will be working on regaining that competitive edge in the coming months. Thanks again! Sheena

Quick question on meetup.com links
Thank you both for your responses. The css class comment totally makes sense. I'm surprised that the comments are nofollows... seems like an oversight!

Hi Chanan, thanks for your question! Do you mean inbound or outbound email? That is, are you looking for recommendations for SAAS that will scrub your email lists for marketing campaigns? And if so, how do you currently send email to your lists? Or did Oren answer your question? Please clarify, thanks! Christy

Disavow Links Notification
It's a known bug that the disavow tool does not always give you a confirmation message after you submit. Around the 6:50 mark of this Webmaster Central Hangout John Mueller confirms this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoQxHeD-jZM As Dr. Pete said, as long as you see that your file is in place, you just need to trust that the tool is working. When you submit, you'll see a notification within the disavow tool that says, "You have successfully submitted a file with xxx domains and xx urls" to show you that your file has indeed been submitted.

Images Sitemap GWT - not indexed?
Hey Ben, it has been quite a while, I would like to know if this has resolved and if so, how? I have a client who have millions of images and we have created sitemaps but they have not indexed any from the sitemap. I am guessing that it might be some information structure/link juice flow issue but any more info on the matter is gladly welcome.

Duplicate Content Issues on Product Pages
The canonical should pass link equity similar to a 301 redirect.

Duplicate content for product pages
How similar/different are these products? Are they marketed to slightly different audiences? Do they have slightly different uses? Or are the essentially the same product but one is blue and the other is black? If they can be marketed to different groups or have a big enough difference that they should be separate pages then I'd consider doing some research and copywriting to add unique, relevant content to each to set them apart. If they're really too similar then determine whether they definitely need to be on separate pages still or if the could be merged. If they can be merged, choose which on stays live, update the page as needed and 301 the old page to the one still live. If they definitely need to stay on separate pages still despite being so similar, consider canonicalizing one to the other.

Authorship without Google+ - Ideas and strategies
Hi Takeshi, Thanks so much for getting back to me on this one. I am aware of Bing's experiments with Klout and just signed up for it today to test it out. I will be your response to my client. I can see this is a very aggressive move on Google's behalf. I wonder if eventually they will get dinged as Microsoft did on monopolistic behaviors. hehe...time will tell. Tks for your time! Have a good weekend Carla

How do I fix duplicate content issues if the pages are really just localized versions?
Perfect. Note the #2 item on this list. The key to having international content is treating each country subsite as it's own site. Make sure you have someone from that country consulting you on each country focused site. So if UK, have someone native to the UK review the site. Same for Germany, France, etc. As for structure, my personal favorite is subfolders. So your UK site would be www.domain.com/uk. www.domain.com if you get to the point that you have so many and really need a US one as well, make www.domain.com the "universal" version, and www.domain.com/us as targeted to the US, but it might not be necessary at this point. The content is the big part, if you want to do well internationally, really focus on getting the content right. There will be some overlap, don't worry about that. Focus more on the user experience for people in each area. The only technical thing that needs to be done is for you to geo-target in the respective WMT areas. Does that help?

Off Canvas Menus
Hi Mark, On our site we use responsive design / css media queries to shape the same content to fit on mobiles / tablets / desktop. We initially had the same issue with the menu, but managed to use to clever css to actually use the same menu code, just present it at the top of the page for tablet / mobile, and off to the side (sliding in via a button touch) for mobile. This works pretty well and I certainly haven't noticed any negative effects SEO wise. Best wishes, Stuart

Incoming links which don't exists...
If these are all coming from one site, and you're worried about them, this is actually a good case for the disavow tool. You can disavow an entire domain in a single line: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/2648487?hl=en As Michael said, getting Google to actually recrawl/recache all of those pages can take quite a while. With the ad gone, it's probably a non-issue and they'll eventually clear out, but disavow would remove any lingering doubt. Unfortunately, there's no way to tell if you've been penalized without knowing more about the site, traffic, etc. I'd say its unlikely for a paid link from a single site, especially if that link was subsequently removed. Googles isn't usually that aggressive about it, especially if your site generally has solid authority/reputation.

Which Backlinks to Disavow?
Did you see any lost in traffic in your site lately? You should be very careful removing link many of those links might be actually helping your ranks. If you don't have any penalty or traffic decrease I think is better use of your time to keep building good links.

Guest Posting At Scale - A Definition!
Thanks Rand.. have just re-read this response and I totally agree with the SEO tactics you have mentioned.. but in my opinion you are assuming that the client has an endless budget for SEO. Unfortunately this isn’t the case for a lot of ‘smaller’ clients, they have limited budgets in comparison to their nationwide ‘bigger’ competitors.. Creating videos isn’t cheap, hosting events isn’t cheap etc.. Google favours big brands who have the resources to make them happy.. it’s a lose lose situation for smaller companies.. how can they compete?

How can I submit a reconsideration request while not having any manual action?
Yes, earlier it was possible, but not now. And you don't have to appeal for reconsideration if you have not received a message for manual spam from Google.
