Canonical for 80-90% duplicate content help
OK Seen Video thanks Wiqas, understand that Rel is a thorny thing. So I am not going to opt for that Brett thanks! Suggestion is to no index /no follow until it is made unique and concentrate on the most imortant pages first and then submit those bit by bit. Necessary ? Is it more beneficial to remove crap pages than to have them there even though they are indexed albeit at a low level.

Effects of significant cross linking between subdomains
Helen, I know people who have had success in reducing the number of links within mega menus by turning some of them (after the first two levels, for instance, but you could get much more sophisticated if you wanted) into javascript links. If the javascript is not too complex Google will still have no trouble getting to those pages, but the links won't be "hrefs" and therefore won't waste pagerank on pages that are not as important relative to the others. The upside to this is that the links are still there for users, assuming that is a good thing. As someone else mentioned, consider whether having those links there really is good for the users, or if they'd rather see a simpler menu. The search engines are beside the point in that case. Any time an eCommerce site experiences slow, steady traffic drops I always look into the uniqueness of their product copy. That is often a sign that they are sharing product copy with other sites, either due to manufacturer description use, or by publishing feeds to 3rd party sites like Amazon, eBay or price comparison shopping engines. Good luck!

Temporary Redirect 302 to subdomain for a couple of weeks?
Thanks that what I thought but in the end I made a recommendation against doing anything and keep the website as is. It seemed too risky.

How to build links naturally?
I suggest doing a test marketing campaign with your personal and business Facebook page. Create a catchy headline or comment on the photo, and post that with the link to your web page that should display the photo on that page. With the business page use the Booster promotion option to increase visibility and engagement. Images drive engagement on Facebook and if they are famous and stunning then people should like them and share them. Make sure to give credit to the photographer. You could also try the same campaign on Pinterest ! Based on the results / costs of the campaign, adjust and move forward. Good luck !

To all the PPC expert :
I would agree with the daily budget caps suggestion. That's what I've found out works best for me. I break the budget up so the campaign will run for as many days as possible with the daily budget before hitting your monthly budget total.

Dramatic decline in rankings
Hey, It will be very unfair to advise without analyzing website in terms of On Page and Back-links. Just a favor, similar issue happened with one of our USA based client last week. Complete collapse in rankings suddenly but rankings got backed within 2 days. That was mysterious. I wish the same for your client! Still, without analysis, we can't identify issues! There could be one or more reasons Some Sort of Robot Back-links Issues (Anchors, Diversity, Quality) or others.

Competitor outranking you with link spam. What would be your next steps?
Just an update. Our site eventually returned to the 1st position for our main keyword. The competitors site seems to have levelled out in position 9 There are other long tail terms we'd like to rank for that these are still dominating which I think is still a little crazy based on their link profile. I'd have expected them to have been hit a lot harder by Google? Thanks to all who contributed to this post so far, I will continue to watch and update this post should things change drastically.

Organic key word ranking
How you are checking the rank will influence the result. Checking from your own computers that often "visit" your own site can make your own pages show up better in the rankings. Did you try using a rank checking service, or an anonymous Google search tool like startpage.com ?

Losing links
Best way to find the lost links is Ahrefs.com that will show you the data of lost links within the index or Majestic SEO that will show you what links are now deleted. Hope this helps!

My Backlinks become 404s
You know Gregory and Simobens, I stand corrected. I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that. As Gregory says, good external links pointing to live pages on your site is good. If either the page with the link or the page on your site that the link points to is deleted, it's not good.

Moz Analytics - Custom Report Question
Hello Sam, Thanks for the answer, I just got your support ticket reply too! Please do forward it, there are two things that I would suggest for this application: 1. Brand Manager - I'm also an SEO re-seller, so I have to change my logo often, brand managers make my life my easier. 2. Report Templates - This would be useful for all, there are many types of reports I like to run, creating them repeatedly is not very fun however. Thanks again Sam, all the best

Rank drop ecommerce site
before I could tell you the best way to get your ranking backup I would have to look at your site. I Would bet you that because you have bad back links that you try to remove you might've missed a few. "There are 2 other paid links from two PR4 sites that look editorial. There are other links on the sites to other websites that are paid. All links for these 2 sites look editorial." Google it is a $40 billion a year company that has the resources and ability to figure out if it's a paid link or looks like a paid link. They will find out from other sites using similar services paid links are one of the worst things you can have in my opinion. Do a title tag like this is spamming running shoes | walking shoes | cross-training shoes using something like Shoes - Walking - Running - Cross-training would be a better title tag "Google changes the way the title tag is displayed sometimes in the search engines." This is normal for Google will change your title tag to suit the queried keywords. It is supposed to help you. "We may have many 404 errors (due to some mistakes we made with the URLs in our cart) - if Google hasn't deindexed them all then we could have dozens of 404s on important category pages. But nothing is showing up in GWT." Are you only using Google Webmaster tools to try to figure out if you have for 404's? when you say blogs I'm assuming your meaning posts? when you delete blog posts and other parts of the website you're essentially deleting interlinking, back links that you may not know about, your changing your website structure. If you have not corrected all possible 404's or at least most this will hurt you quite a bit. For instance when people redesign their site and do not 301 redirect properly even sometimes when they do 301 redirect properly they go down drastically in the SERPS this is because Google does not trust change immediately. if you scroll down you'll see my answer in this post and its relevancy to changing parts of the website and Actually trying to keep your site rank. http://moz.com/community/q/how-to-keep-old-url-juice-during-site-switch " We have a lot of subcategory pages that rel=cononical to main categories in the menu." That might not be the wisest idea. I would strongly recommend a site audit. if you give me your URL I will run it through some tools for you and give you my opinion. Sincerely, Thomas

How to handle pagination for a large website?
If you're using the WordPress SEO by Yoast you can easily do this by adding %%page%% to your title template. It appears as "Page 2 of 5".
